The visit I had last Wednesday, December 10, was very pleasant. All the women working that morning were very nice and helpful. I had a phone call from there yesterday saying my glasses are ready. I have had fake AI calls that were more friendly! The woman said just what was needed and nothing else. No greetings, nothing! She was the direct opposite from my visit last week! I hope Vision Works can hire people who are very nice and welcoming as the ones in the store were. Maybe when I go to pick up my glasses it will be a pleasant experience. I can only hope. read more

My family and I just moved to NY from NJ and from calling to make appointments to having our appointments and getting new glasses it was a great experience. Back in April my gf woke up with a grey dot in her vision which is pretty alarming so we tried to call to make an appointment here however you couldn't get through at all. It kept having a weird dial tone then ringing so we stopped by since it's close. They told us they were fully booked months in advance but not to worry because it sounds like a floater and it'll gradually go away in time. My girlfriend decided to wait because we were moving and she already had an appointment booked in august in our new town. Her vision got worse and more warped by august when she went to get her eyes checked. They referred her to a specialist because it was in fact not a floater, at all. After she saw the specialist she was told because it wasn't stopped when it started there is nothing that can be done to fix it. No surgery, no medicine, no getting better in time, nothing. They could have simply told us they're full like everywhere else at that time but instead they had to give us false reassurance. Because of this establishment my girlfriend will never be able to see normally again. Everything in her right eye looks like a Picasso painting with the lights dimmed. Her vision is distorted and warped and it will never be fixed. I'm an atheist but after this I hope I'm wrong. I hope there is a hell and I hope I see the staff from this establishment there. read more

I have fond memories of this place. I got my first pair of glasses here. My younger sister got hers here, and so did my brother. I used to come here every year when I lived in Corning 6 years ago. . . but MAN, how things have gone downhill since then! Maybe it's because I work with clients and customers on a daily basis that I'm so amazed when I receive poor customer service. Experiences like these remind me that people who work in customer service don't necessarily share my desire to help the customer and to make a good impression for the company I represent. I paid them a visit on a weekday, mid-afternoon. "Oh great, there she comes," said the look on the receptionist's face. But when I said hi to her with a smile, she did greet me back and showed me a form to fill out. I filled it out and waited to be called in for the eye exam. So far, so good. Now, I had asked for new prescriptions for frames and contact lenses. I had made that clear to the eye doctor. Although the eye doctor was a bit sloppy with the air-puff tonometer test (if my eyes could scream in pain, that's what they would have been doing), he was very friendly and professional when he acknowledged that I needed frames AND contacts. We proceeded with the eye exams. Same steps as usual, plus a few for the contacts (or so I thought). Since I had to leave Corning the next day, arrangements were made for my parents to pick up my frames. Because I would be out of town and would not be able to try on the contacts, the doctor wrote me a prescription and told me to show it to my local vision center to get contacts. Turns out it was just a regular prescription. What was the point of visiting my favorite childhood vision center when I would have to go through the entire process again back in the city? The doctor knew it was my first time getting contacts. NOW I know what a contact prescription looks like, but why did the doctor tell me then that the regular prescription was a contact lens prescription? The frames I got were fine. After all that hassle, the prescription still isn't strong enough. The selection of frames was all right. The man behind the register rang me out wrong, so we had to redo the transaction. Since I paid with credit card, I had to wait for the manager to come in the following day to get my balance adjusted. No apologies for the inconvenience. They don't really seem to care anymore. read more

I'm so disappointed with the customer service at the visionworks located in Corning, NY. I've been a customer there for way over 10 years. My concerns were not addressed when I called to ask for assistance with my new purchased glasses. I have pain in my eyes from my eyebrow area to the back of my eyes. I'm very nauseated and dizzy.. I will return the glasses and go elsewhere. read more

We had a great experience in the store. We did have trouble reaching the store on the phone but our online booked appointments for my husband and for myself, were informative and helpful. The exams were conducted safely and with our comfort in mind. Two of our three pairs were ready for pick up within a week's time and the general manager went out of his way to help us. We did have to wait as there was not anyone working with him, but he apologized and did spend a lot of time making sure our glasses were correct and fit. Especially during these times when everything is a little more complicated and takes longer, we appreciated the store staff treating us better than the average office. Staff always treats us with utmost respect. They are very patient and help adjust eyeglasses anytime it's needed. We have never had any issues or complaints in all the 20 + years we have been there. We have been to other places but always return. They caught a problem with my eyes and referred me to a specialist - they could have just sold me glasses but they cared to make sure I had proper care. Poor customer service. We tried ordering glasses one evening, but due to an issue with their computer system, they needed to verify our insurance and agreed to call us the next morning. We are still waiting for a call three days later, even after I followed up after two days. Many businesses are short-staffed, but at least keep the customer updated on what's happening. We'll be going elsewhere. read more

Well most of the service is good but I don't like the fact they don't really do fittings and adjust glasses well to the face. I still go there because my informations is there and it close to home but I wish they had train people to fit the glasses properly. read more

Last year, I gave this place a poor review due to an inept employee on the phone. Today they get five stars. From the initial receptionist to the doctor to the contact lens specialist, everything was spot on. I went in to get contacts only, no glasses. After an eye test administered by the professional Dr. Jumper, I ordered my contacts and was out of there in less than 45 minutes. Short and sweet with no bull. The price was lower than expected also. Who knew. read more

While this location had been decent in the past, my 2016 visit was disappointing. I was left with the feeling of an underhanded used car salesman. Customer service is l Ming big time at this place. I picked up one pair of glasses yesterday and was d, emailed and texted both were ready. I get there the lady fitting my glasses was ride and said I only have 1. I explained that I had received a message both were ready trying to get clarification and she snapped at me and said I don't what to tell you you only have one and shewed me out of the store. I receive a text message today, and email they arrived. I tried calling the store to make sure and the new phone system wouldn't put me through to verify with the store, because online it all says I'm good to go and they are done. So I drove a half hour to get there give them my name and guess what no glasses!!! After them spending time to find them it's discovered that the glasses had to be redone and are still in Texas at the Lab! Bad communication, rude, systems don't work correctly. I stopped into Empire Visionworks while I was vacationing in the Corning/Ithaca area June 1st, 2016. I remember the day because I was flying out that day, and just now remembered to post a review. I needed to have my eye glasses adjusted. I found the staff personnel very helpful. A couple of females staff and a male manager were very attentive and friendly. I don't recall their names but they wore name badges. Oh, well! But what I remember is that they didn't seem put off that I was there just to have my glasses repaired! Nice, clean, professional and right downtown in the center of Corning! Stop in if you need your glasses repaired while on vacation or need new ones if you live in the area. I came to Visionworks because my previous eye doctor had retired & I was in need of new contacts. It was easy to make an appointment & in the time of Covid I felt like the office was safe. However, considering I was a first time patient, I was completely disappointed in the doctor. Did not introduce himself, did not ask me my history, the exam barely lasted ten minutes & I was sent on my way with the completely wrong prescription & a brand that caused my eyes to be dry & burn. Went back the next day for another trial pair, supposed to be better, but still one eye's contact had the wrong strength & with the same dry, burning. Told them to cancel my order, I would find my old brand online only to find out I didn't at any point get a true script that would even allow me to do so! Told I had to come BACK in to the office & be seen AGAIN just to get what I need to buy my own contacts! The women on the phones were kind & understanding the entire time, but I will not be going back after this gets sorted out, even if it is the only place that takes my insurance. read more

I wish there was a way to give this place zero stars because I would. In having to give them one star I feel like I am not doing this review justice. I have never been treated more poorly in my life. They definitely LACK in ALL customer service skills. They made me feel dumb and belittled. From the second you walk you get this look like here comes another person to ruin my day. I understand that I have tattoos but come on! I was watched like a hawk when trying on different frames like I was going to try and steal a pair or something. So judgmental and stereotypical of them. It made me feel sick. All they seemed to care about was money and how much they could get out of me. They are very rude and insensitive. When my insurance card gave them a problem, they made me feel like it was my fault that they didn't know how to fix or adjust it. I would highly recommend going some place else for your eye care. This place is not worth the way they make you feel. If I owned it, I would fire the whole staff and start over with people who actually like their job and care about their customers. read more

I agree with the 1-star rating other reviewers have given it. I don't necessarily have a complaint about their customer service (maybe it has changed in the couple yrs since the other reviews were written). But, the prices are ridiculous. My insurance covers glasses and I got a pair there last year. When I went this yr the price had DOUBLED. The employee told me "oh, yeah, there was a huge cost increase industry-wide." So I went to another vision place and found that wasn't true. Every time I've been in there employees out number customers two to one or so. Maybe they are overcompensating for shitty customer service previously, I don't know. And maybe that is why their prices are so ridiculous. But, I won't go there and be gouged simply out of principle - even if I had to pay more out of pocket - which I don't, I just have to submit a claim rather then have them do it. Find another vision center - don't go here. read more

My wife and I had our glasses and exam in Big Flats and picked up our glasses here because it is closer to where we live. Horrible quality in this whole experience ..and we still can not see and get headaches constantly.. The absolute worse place you could ever go to get glasses or exams ..over twenty years of service with this company and they still can not get it right..it took long enough but we finally learned our lesson... DO NOT GO TO VISION WORKS EVER !!! read more
