Came through TSA Precheck in the morning at Terminal 1 and was rerouted to the upper level for screening. This station now accepted state-issued mobile IDs. The id checking process was seamless and the security process was also quick, without the need to remove laptops or liquids. There's a dust bin along with a liquid disposal before going through security. There are water dispensers on the main level at the main TSA security checkpoint. Actually, he couldn't get enough of it. It's good that a guy enjoys his job, but come on! Is it a San Francisco thing?. Worst TSA experience -- Terminal 1 pre check needs serious attention I've worked at this airport for over 10 years and never had issues getting through TSA until now. Every time I come through Terminal 1, I'm treated with disrespect and unnecessary hostility by the TSA staff. As a badged airport employee, I expect to be screened like anyone else -- but not harassed or targeted. The TSA morning staff here are rude, dismissive, and seem to go out of their way to make the experience miserable. Even worse, the supervisor does nothing when these concerns are brought up. No accountability, no professionalism. This has become a daily source of stress for me and others just trying to do their jobs. Terminal 1 TSA needs serious retraining and better leadership. So with the TSA its either feast or famine it seems. I have had good days and bad days. Also with any customer / employee interaction it all often comes down to how either individuals mood on that particular day. The biggest issue I have seen with the TSA is how they are staffed. You can tell when they are short staffed. The lines get long, the system gets overwhelmed, and on both sides patients gets thin. To address this issue they should start taxing all these private flights. When flying commercial you pay a surcharge so why do celebs and rich folk get to pass. They sure as heck are not waiting in lines... Today the precheck was fully manned and they got through people in a quick, professional, and efficient manner. And good go people listen to the instructions. Yes I talking to you the guy who did not take out laptop, left his belt THEN his keys and had to go through the detector 3 TIMES!!!! For a recent trip out of San Francisco International Airport (SFO), TSA PreCheck at Terminal 2 Security Checkpoint D was a breeze. My friend and I arrived at the airport together. We were headed to the same gate, C9 (Delta flight bound for Atlanta). It was an ordinary Sunday before noon. SFO was very busy. We entered our respective security lines: me PreCheck, he regular. I was through security about 20-25 minutes faster than he was. Not only that, but I could leave my belt, jacket, and shoes on and I didn't have to take anything out of my bags (e.g., laptop/tablet, liquids). I've had PreCheck through my Global Entry membership since 2015. Even if you only air-travel a little, I think Global Entry/TSA PreCheck is worth it because of the convenience and time savings. Memberships don't break the bank: $100 for Global Entry, which includes TSA PreCheck, or $85 for PreCheck alone. Good for five years. At the time of writing this review, these costs haven't increased since I first signed up in 2015 (despite recent high inflation). It's a great deal and even more so now. My friend that I mentioned above - we air-travel once a year together, typically. At different airports from coast to coast, we've done the same thing I described above at SFO. We enter our respective security lines at the same time. I always beat him through security, but the time differences have varied. The 20-25 minutes I quoted above is one of the longer time differences we've experienced over the years. For example, on our most recent trip together out of Atlanta, I only beat him by maybe 5 minutes. Anyway, in general, I think the cumulative time savings, not to mention convenience, are worth it for TSA PreCheck (and Global Entry). SFO has seven security checkpoints: A, B, C, D, F1, F3, and G. TSA PreCheck is available at all checkpoints except F3. I can't recall ever having any issues with TSA PreCheck at SFO. It's been solid. I found two Yelp listings for TSA PreCheck at SFO. Well, really disappointed with the Clear TSA Pre experience at Terminal 1 in SAn Francisco. There were only 3 Clear terminals at 5:10 in the AM. The lines wrapped around the upper level (new setup in Terminal 1) and it took forever to get people through the understaffed TSA Pre lines. Note to everyone, leave earlier because nobody can rely on Clear TSA Pre to be staffed to accommodate the crowds. I literally ran to barely make my flight. Put your running shoes on if you use this service! read more

Line was longer time wise than the regular security check point but process was still efficient. I do like how thorough the TSA agents are by clearly viewing your photo ID by comparing it to yourself "in the flesh", so to speak. read more

I'm a Diamond Medallion Million Miler with Delta and this is one of, if not the worst checkpoint in the country. The new screening system is maddeningly slow - it took me 20 minutes to get through with Clear and a line of only 10 people. The process is similar to what happens at many international checkpoints, but it's moving in super slow motion. Very frustrating as a frequent traveler and almost makes it not worth it to have Clear or PreCheck. read more

The TSA agents are sarcastic, patronizing and rude. One of the agents suggested we go outside and eat a tub of butter (I don't know why) but she said it with an ungodly level of condescension. My mother asked why she was so rude to which I suggested that she might not have a boyfriend. Turns out the agent next to us was her boyfriend and he jumped in on our conversation. He was worse that her, speaking with arrogance and sass. For a second I was transported into the hit TV series Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. They are a match made in heaven. The disagreement continued for a little while, however he shouldn't have gotten involved. If I didn't like planes, this would be a One start review. read more

Absolutely effortless experience this morning flying out of Terminal 1 on American Airlines. Security was fast, modern, and efficient.

Quick to get through security today, thanks to both PreCheck and CLEAR. CLEAR has the advantage of skipping the line to see the ID checking person and you can then go to either the regular queue (and the irradiation machine) or the Precheck queue (magnetometer, keep your stuff in your bag). There was only a reasonable amount of yelling here. "No liquids!" and "Shoes off!" in the other queue. Awesome. read more

Slow, slow, slow. Understaffed and abhorrently inefficient. The TSA needs a massive overhaul.

This is like a hybrid tsa precheck. Yes you can keep your shoes on but no, take your laptop out of your bag. The CLEAR setup seems all nice and renovated though so I guess that's the push here. read more

I've literally never had anyone else in front of me the handful of times I've gone through TSA Pre here. Unlike the poster below me, no one asked me to take my laptop out of my bag--it was shoes on, leave laptops and liquids inside the bag, aka business as usual for TSA Pre. Two minutes to get through security, mostly because my Fitbit strap takes more than a second to get off. Love it. read more

It does freak me out that they don't smile.... Does anyone else feel nervous for no dang reason when they go through security? At sfo, security is fast, efficient and effective. I like that I can get through fast to get to my morning coffee before my flight. But that's only because I know what to do. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE attitude by a TSA. I've taken planes many a times, internationally as well as domestically. Yes, it's been 2-3 years since i've flown domestically. In packing and prepping for my trip, I had packed tea in a thermos so that i don't get too dehydrated. I had intended to drink it at the airport while i await, but we ended going through Security shortly after arriving. i had completely forgotten about my tea (when travelling doesn't one have enough on one's mind??) and of course, i had my bag searched left and right. No big deal. That's their job. However, when the African American TSA discovered it, she was disgusted and annoyed. She demanded in a condescending and sarcastic tone, "DIDNT ANYONE EVER TELL YA YOU CANT BRING WATER THROUGH". Yes ma'am. She set it aside and demanded that if i wanted to KEEP my tea (of course, my thermos is $30 ma'am) that i needed to exit with my Boarding Pass, get rid of it, and return back through Security again. I complied. Couldn't find a fountain or immediate bathroom to drain it out and gulped down 20 oz of tea. Good thing Security was not busy and i quickly repeated the process. My poor kidneys were worked way too much as i had also drunk coffee before coming. lol When i returned to the Xray area, there were 2 lanes. Looks like she wasn't done harrassing me. Because there was no line on the other aisle and someone was in front of me, i motioned to her indicating i may head to the empty aisle and she quickly retorted NO. Ok, ppl get your act together and get some sensitivity training. Some attitude training. Learn to be kind, patient, and cordial. Did not talk to her and definitely didn't provoke her to behave this way. Sad how customer service and proper civility doesn't exist anymore. read more

Don't bring Polish horseradish ... it's a paste. Have learned that bringing nothing is the best course of action, perhaps even renting clothes at one's destination.
