I called on Saturday night because I was locked out of my apt in the Marina and this location was stated as 2 miles away and SF based. The guy answered and said his "agent" would call me but he's on his way. Eventually an East Bay number called at 9:50pm, and said he'd be there in 30 mins. I asked how much the price would be and he said anywhere from $85 to $140. After waiting almost an hour and a half, he finally showed up at 11:10pm and told me my apt lock was "commercial" and the "driving fee" from the East Bay is $150 on its own and this lock is actually $270 -- but he'd take $180 on Zelle immediately. He then unlocked my door in about 8 seconds. Being that it was almost midnight and I'm a woman alone, I had no choice. I'm not sure why a "driving fee" would be relevant to a business that advertises itself as LOCAL. I could have called the plenty of other SF-based locksmiths and 1) not had to wait much longer than promised 2) not been pressured into a payment that was well over the price that was quoted. read more

I was charged $750 for a very simple residential lockout on a Kwikset deadbolt. The technician did not disclose any price before starting the service. He only told me the cost after the door was already opened, when I no longer had the option to refuse. This is classic price gouging and an example of deceptive business practice. A standard lockout in San Francisco is normally $120-$200, even for SmartKey models. Charging $750 without prior disclosure is unacceptable. I am requesting a partial refund and a written explanation of their pricing structure. Until then, I cannot recommend this company. read more

Amazing service! The owner was very responsive to our requests. We needed someone to open a filing cabinet for us as we lost the keys. He came within 2 business to take care of the issue along with making 2 duplicate keys for the cabinet. When we received the keys in the mail, they didn't work for some reason. However, the owner came over again to fix the problem without charging us extra (it's the lock issue, not the key issue). ****Updated review: Daniel, the business owner, heard my story regarding the technician charging an additional $75 for the new lock without informing me that it's an additional charge. He resolved matters by reimbursing me the $75, which is very considerate and professional of him! He told me that they shouldn't be charging anything without letting me know before they do the work. Overall, Daniel was very quick to resolve the issue and followed up on the reimbursement. I'm putting down 4 stars because overall, I do think that providing a ballpark estimate on the work cost before dispatching a technician will provide a better transparency in pricing. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I had a similar experience as the other reviewer in that I called this number because I had been locked out. They dispatched a technician that must have been a contractor. I asked how much it would be on the phone and they cannot tell me a price due to not knowing what the work would look like. The technician came over, took a look, and said it'd be $175 for the unlocking and $45 for the service. Then he was unable to unlock the door so ended up drilling through my lock, then charged me an additional $75 for a new lock!! This one trip ended up costing me $295 total! They know they can charge for an arm and a leg when you're locked out of your apartment and can't do anything about it. read more

Oh wow! I told Dan our security gate was broken and it was an emergency. He promised he'd arrive before 11:00 AM and showed up at 9:00 AM. He fixed the problem in very short order. He also tuned up our gate closing mechanism. I find it very difficult to find someone who understands how to adjust that. We called Dan, per neighbor's reference, for a non-urgent lock change out. Next day Dan texted/called that he's coming. A guy shows up, answers to "Dan?" and comes into my home. He was not Dan! Later, I learned that he was "Ron." Employee? Still don't know. He (Ron) re-keyed 2 locks, then said he needed to completely replace one lock for which we couldn't find the key (found it couple of days later). He charged more than 100% what any other professional would have charged (found out later). The "new lock" he installed didn't work. I was disabled and had major surgery so didn't call until last week. Dan made and broke 5 appointments. Finally, after a lot of waiting and wasted time, Dan showed up. He yelled at me. He wouldn't listen. It seemed that he didn't even know what Ron had done (Dan called Ron in front of me to ask!). After a lot of yelling and stress, Dan used a tool to make the lock work. He had said we'd have to pay more. We objected, as the lock had never closed. We never were given an invoice. Ron used a digital device that just took our payment. We have requested a proper invoice, required by law. Big problem---man enters a home without identifying himself! Ron was a gentleman, but he never said that he was not Dan. He answered to "Dan" the entire time he was in our home. Weird??!!! read more

I called for an apartment lockout :( Got the spiel about how my particular door is high security and will be difficult to unlock. I got quoted $299 for the difficulty which apparently is $365 if I paid with card, $345 for venmo, or $325 for Zelle.
