My friends and I visited Tsaocaa before COVID19 closings when they had just been open for a few weeks. There are many bubble tea places to chose from in Boston's Chinatown but we really wanted to like Tsaocaa because they're one of the places with the prettiest drinks/cups. My brown sugar bubble milk wasn't too bad. I loved the look of it with the brown sugar streaks on the side, however, the drink was basically...just milk. I expected milk as I did not order the milk tea version of this drink but the milk wasn't sweet at all. I had to use my straw to scrape off all the brown sugar from the side of the cup in order to flavor my milk - after that it tasted good. My boyfriend got the peach oolong tea with milk foam, less sweet. Wow, it just tasted like water. I wasn't getting the peach or the tea flavor. I was pretty shocked with how bad the tea was. It may be because he ordered under the "freshly brewed tea" section instead of the "fruit tea" section. It tasted like the tea leaves didn't have enough time to brew but I don't know. We're definitely bummed Tsaocaa is closed at this time during coronavirus but can't wait until they open back up again so we can try their actual fruit teas and milk teas. First of all, The drink itself is good. I love the salty milk foam and the crystal pearls. However, boba is undigested! It is huge and chewy! However, the service and ambiance are painful. The cashier continues checking her phone while the customer waiting to make the order. The charge a fee to switch from boba to other toppings - which is first of the kind I have experienced after visiting at least 20 boba shops in the city. The store is very messy with a lot of bills, trash but no one cares about cleaning it!! I walked past here getting lunch and noticed that they were open! I walked in and the staff were all friendly and offered me a menu. Decided on the Grapefruit Peach w/ Crystal Jelly. Went to pay and they only accepted cash ($10 minimum)...huge bummer and turnoff for this place. Every other bubble tea place does not have a minimum amount. Not a top choice for boba in Chinatown for me. I heard Tsaocaa had opened and came by to try their aesthetic drinks and check out the new space. They seemed to have good fruity drinks (since all the posters were fruity options) so I ordered a blueberry green tea with cheese foam which I saw featured on a poster. It surprisingly was a slush drink, that was pretty ice-chunky. The combination of blueberry and foam made it taste a lot like blueberry yogurt - which I wasn't a fan of. My friends also ordered fruity drinks, they thought it was slightly too sweet as well. Few pros is that there's only one drink size which is quite large, and the cafe space is large for Chinatown, and as aesthetic as the pics. Would possibly try another drink next time, maybe a tea, but otherwise would check out the many other bubble tea places around and on the street. read more

Tsaocaa is a new edition for milk tea shops in Boston, so I was really excited to try it. The aesthetic of the shop is really cute and they have the round bottom cups which are my favorite. I tried 3 different drinks, the peach oolong milk tea, matcha, and the lychee green tea with milk foam. The peach oolong was good, it was a nice balance with the peach not being too overpowering. The matcha was a bit thick, but it was still good taste wise. The lychee green tea was super refreshing, the milk foam was a nice touch with it as well if you like the mix with tea but not too milky. It comes with crystal boba/agar boba, but I personally don't like the texture of agar. Only thing that let me down was the boba. It was a bit too soft and the consistency of boba was a bit different. However, everything else was good. I have yet to try the herbal jelly, so I'll definitely try that next! read more

Since I discovered this new place, I've been hitting this spot 7 days in a row... I'm a big big fan of boba milk tea n I used to skip meals for milk tea. However, I almost quit milk tea since I moved to Boston last year, cuz there's not a legit milk tea place in Boston. All those chain places r overly sweet/creamy to me. One thing i like most abt Tsaocaa is the boba. Instead of the regular black one, it is amber boba, which is more chewy. I LOVE IT! I've been ordering purple potato fresh milk every day. By far the worst boba/bubble tea I've ever had. First off, they don't greet you when you walk into their store. I walked in and it was just complete silence and the lady just stared at me. Then, when I ordered I asked what was a "nata jelly" and how sweet their drinks are, and the lady didn't know how to answer me. When I got my drink, a peach jasmine with nata jelly 70% sugar, it was so sweet and the amber bubble tasted disgusting. Every time I took a sip it tasted like straight syrup. No tea flavor at all. Tsaocaa is next to several great boba shops including Tiger Sugar, Royal Tea, and TeaDo so was curious to see how it stacked up. I got the colorful fruits black tea with 50% sugar. They had these sugar oranges inside which they gave you a fork to eat them with. Even at 50% sugar it still felt very sweet and the drink was a brownish color from the black tea. Overall it tasted good but not unique enough or yummy enough for me to try the same drink again in the future. I will come back to try one of there other fruit teas read more

I only went here because the line for Tea-Do was too long and this was next door. There was a group of 3 people infront of me who ordered and a couple who ordered after me. The couple ended up getting their order before me, so I went up to the counter to say I didn't get my order and the workers looked lost and asked me what I ordered. I have mixed feelings about this place. Their drinks are unique and really good. I get the mango yogurt with crystal pearl, and it's so refreshing and lovely. Like drinking a yakult in slushy form with chunks of sweet mango throughout. Pure bliss on a hot summer's day. However, every time I've gone, it's taken a really long time for my drink to be made, even before the pandemic. Yes, their drinks can be complicated to make, but at the same time, their staff is insanely slow and seems to move at a snail's pace. I've never seen staff so unenthusiastic about making drinks--it's like they're doing you a favor by even being there, and they're constantly chatting with each other while they languidly pour milk and scoop ice. The first time I came here with friends, they actually forgot about my drink, and we had to remind them after we had already waited some 20-25 minutes for my friend's drinks to be made. That alone has made me avoid this place unless there's absolutely no one else in the store. The brown sugar one isn't that good, I would definitely recommend getting their fruit tea instead. The service was a bit slow even though there were four staff making drinks. It's Chinatown so cant expect too much out of the location itself. Once you get past the street and the surrounding exterior (going down the stairs ugh), the place is super clean and nice. Totally fits their theme and COVID safe. They have a touch screen for ordering (so bring purell or wear gloves) and while I havent tried many of their drinks, I love their brown sugar milk! I hate cheese so I need to order my drink without the cheese foam. I also dont like cold drinks (especially because it's winter) but, THEY CHARGE FOR NO ICE!!! BRUHHHHHHH so disappointing. The drinks here are fine. Only issue is with the staff/consistency. First time I came here I ordered the black milk tea w boba & pearl boba (under their specials menu). No where under the description did it mention it came with cheese foam. I'm not a fan of cheese foam & ended up throwing it up that night. So the 2nd time I came to order the same drink I specifically went out my way to order at the cashier & ask for NO CHEESE FOAM which the girl rudely told me "it doesn't come with any" so I snapped back and said well last time they gave it to me. Came back again today and ordered the same drink on the computer tablet they have and guess what? IT CAME WITH CHEESE FOAM and I couldn't stomach my drink cuz shit was salty. My friend got the same drink but with grapefruit jellies and she loved it. Another new bubble tea place in Chinatown. Tea is okay just like other bubble tea shops that you can name. However, the store organization is bad. I expected waiting time will be long for the new opened store. For this one, the waiting time is EXTREMELY long. Staffs didn't make tea by order number. Let say your number is 10 and they will make the order for #20. Then will go back and make your order after I don't know how long. Except for that, customers just randomly take your drinks without asking anything. We all know Boston Chinatown always lacks of parking.
