But on the way, I saw a sign saying more upstairs. That's where the real stock was kept. It somehow felt like there was twice as much space on the second floor than the first. Sci fi, fantasy, horror, Manga (limited),etc all the good stuff was on the second floor for me. Value wise it was worth stopping in here. We had to ask an employee where the puzzles were and they seemed kind of meh and pointed. They were stocking puzzles, so I thought they'd be close by. I initially stopped by to pick up the latest release from one of my favorite authors, but somehow left with two books instead. (Book lovers will understand!) I was warmly greeted when I arrived, and the welcoming atmosphere immediately made me want to linger and browse. What I appreciate most about MahoganyBooks is that it does much more than sell books. The bookstore is intentional about creating space for authors of color to be seen, celebrated, and supported. From book signings and author events to community activities and wellness-focused gatherings, it's clear that they're building community through literature and culture. After browsing the shelves, I visited the small café inside the bookstore for a smoothie before taking my new books down to the waterfront. Finding a bench by the water and reading a few pages while enjoying the beautiful views of National Harbor was the perfect way to spend the afternoon. Between the thoughtfully curated book selection, welcoming atmosphere, café, and beautiful waterfront location, the experience feels like much more than a trip to a bookstore.

I met my cousin for dinner and we spent time before and after exploring the shelf's. Loved the layout and intimate vibe. Rachel responded to me a day later, and also informed me my books were on back order, so they would take some time to get and deliver. OK, no problem. Totally understandable, and I was happy that they were getting so much business. I waited until July 9 to follow up as none of my books arrived and I had no communications about my order since that June 18 email. I replied to Rachel asking if she had an update on my order (since I was charged already, and so was understandably wondering what happened to my orders). Nothing. July 22 I reached out on their Instagram account with a Direct Message. Nothing. I've called and no one picks up and the voicemail is full. It is now July 28 and I have yet to hear a response about the four books I ordered. I am extremely disappointed, because I really wanted to support this business, but it's now been a month and a half since my order. I would be more understanding if they at would at least reply to me to let me know what's going on and were keeping me in the loop, but so far they have consistently ignored a customer. I really hate leaving this review, but short of just walking up to their store and beating on the glass (which I'm sure would make me look like a lunatic!), I honestly don't know what else to do.

This is located near the Apple Store and is easy to park. In fact parking is free if you get them…read moreto stamp your ticket. I usually come here when charging my car and it's always great to browse the books. I never had any issue with the service while buying books and I think things are decently priced here, though hard for me to compare considering I don't buy many books. One thing to note is that the coffee store is not a Starbucks so don't expect to get Starbucks treatment. I went around 6 and they refused to open a bag of beans because it was too late. I don't think opening a bag of beans would have made a difference but ends up I had to drink coffee that I didn't really want.
