The video function on my Lumix camera didn't seem to work. John took the camera and fiddled with it for a while. It turned out that I wasn't using the correct button to access the video (duh). I'm in from out of town and forgot my camera battery and charger. I found Tucson camera repair online and went there to purchase a replacement battery. The gentleman at the counter was extremely helpful and even charged my battery so I didn't have to purchase a charger while in town. I am so grateful to have found this camera shop. Okay, this may be the only camera repair place in town, but it is also the best. I brought them a used video camera that I had just purchased which apparently had some dead pixels. This camera was a big investment and I was really nervous that the repair was going to cost me an arm and a leg. I talked with John, the owner, a lot throughout the process. I was surprised how gracious he was with his time as it is a very busy place. I paid $45 for them to look at the camera. This is credited towards the work if you get it fixed with them. People complain about this, but I understand. By the time most digital cameras go bad, it is not worth repairing. It is better to just buy a new one. If they gave free estimates, they would make no money. After the tech looked at the camera, we talked through the possibilities. Turns out JVC refused to even let the tech do the repair and insisted that they mail the camera to them for repair. I found a work around online and had the tech do it in the shop. It is not a permanent fix, but better than getting fleeced by JVC. The story does not really have a happy ending, but I felt like I had an ally in John and Tucson Camera Repair. There is another guy in the shop who is very unhelpful and doesn't know the business as well, but that is unavoidable. Ask for John if you have a complicated issue. I would definitely bring my cameras here in the future. read more

Went in to Tucson Camera Repair looking for an older canon lens. Walking in the showroom is small and it looked like they didn't have what I needed. Then John asked what I needed and he disappeared to the back room and came out with exactly that! Great price and all the used lenses are checked by a tech so they offer a 30 day warranty! John was really helpful and we conversed for a while about cameras and football. Another customer came in and he immediately recognized him and got his camera. Seems like a well run business that will have me coming back. read more

I stopped by to have a well-loved Sony camera repaired, and while I was told it wasn't possible (sigh), I was given a "work around" solution - an adaptor for the MicroSD memory card - free of charge. These guys are the best of the best. Absolutely wonderful customer service, and they KNOW cameras. I've been to famous camera shops from NYC to LA and this is a really standout place. I also really appreciate that they still work on film cameras, as it's sort of a dying art and can be hard to find people who are trained to work on them. The gentleman who owns the shop is very nice and quite knowledgeable about cameras. (I wish they carried Canon accessories.) He's also great at explaining what's wrong and what needs to be fixed. He really knows cameras. And, his repair prices are very fair. The thing that I like about this place: He's honest, he's fair, and his turnaround time is very quick! I dropped my camera off one day, and it was fixed within 24 hours. What can I say? Awesome! read more

I was very disappointed with the service I received at Tucson Camera. The gentleman behind the desk was extremely unhelpful and gave us conflicting information as to his ability to recharge the camera in order to run diagnostics before he could assist. I contacted another camera shop, who offered a few "quick fixes" over the phone, and the problem has been solved. The bottom line is he did not want to be bothered with our small point and shoot camera. He has lost our business -- and we do have multiple 35 mm cameras of various price ranges. read more

I needed a new tripod receptacle put in to my olympus camera. Right off, the owner started complaining about Olympus and there parts department. They had my cameramfor over a week before they even got to giving me an estsmet.then I had to call to get a status update on my camera. When they were done, they gave my camera back with out installing the strap or cap. These items were on the camera when I dropped it off. then the guy got indignant when I complained! Still cannot believe the great service here. I took a Canon teleconverter lens in for repair because some screws had fallen out and were lost. When I walked into the store, it appeared everything in the store was of Nikon manufacture but the salesperson assured me they can fix Canon equipment also. After a short wait my teleconverter was repaired and there was NO CHARGE!! Truly amazing service and I would definitely return to this shop whenever I am in need of camera repair. read more

I just got back from my third experience with Tucson Camera Repair and once again they've left me feeling like they went out of their way to be extremely professional and friendly. I took my camera in to get a $45 cleaning and after asking me a few questions and looking at my DSLR, the owner recommended that I go home and try the sensor-cleaning function in my camera. Other stores would have just taken my money. But he was right and the function took care of everything. I can't stress enough how helpful the place is. I've had spots on my pictures ever since I bought my Canon DSLR. I'd tried cleaning the sensor myself but the spots were always there. Finally I decided to try a professional, I used Google to find camera repair locations in Tucson and this was the first on the list, possibly the only one on the list. I took my camera in, they checked it out and told me they could clean the sensor. They also noticed another problem with one of the dials which I had forgotten about. I got a call a couple of days later that my camera was ready. I picked it up and it really is like new. Not only is everything repaired (no more spots, yay) but the whole camera looks clean and new. Hopefully I won't have future problems with my camera, but if I do I'll know where to take it. read more

Terrible service! First it cost 50$ for them to give you an estimate! They Claim that the money goes to opening the camera, but my camera was not opened at all. And here's why, I bought my camera and there was a spill in the camera of unknown sticky liquid. I sent my camera here to fix a problem with the digitalizer and why it had splotches on it. They claimed they looked at it and needed a surprising amount of replacement parts to me. They said it would cost 180$ not including the 50$ I previously paid. I did not have that much money so I took it back to realize it was never opened! I decided to fix it myself, which came to literally 25 dollars! They're THIEVES and LIARS and will not be coming back. read more

I went here on a friend's recommendation when my DSLR wouldn't auto-focus. Spoke with John, and he was friendly and knowledgeable, and immediately diagnosed the problem with my lens (NOT the camera body, whew!), but kept it to make sure. In the end, his diagnosis was correct, and my lens was toast, so I'll be going back as soon as I can replace it. A good experience, despite my poor lens. read more

I stopped by on 8/14/12 to have a tripod head separated from the boom clamp or how to do it. . John told me how to fix it. As I was leaving, he told me to leave it and he would take it home to try and fix it. When i returned to pick it up and asked "How much do I owe you" he said NO CHARGE". I am in Tucson for a few weeks, and noticed a problem with my binoculars. I found out that Tucson Camera does some repairs of binocs, as well as cameras, and they said to bring it over to see if they could figure out what the problem is.
