I highly recommend Brandon and Tufts Tree Service. He responded quickly to my initial phone call, provided a competitive quote, and was able to schedule a date to remove limbs in a short time frame. He and his assistant were very safety conscious, professional and courteous. They removed large limbs from a confined space with power lines and my roof line in close proximity without any damage or issues. Removing tree limbs can be dangerous. Pathetic. After we'd spoken on the phone Brandon was unable to successfully call me back. He changed our schedule and some how left a message somewhere else. When he didn't show for the re-scheduled appointment he put it on me that he'd called and left a message and sent me his screen shot to prove it - to the wrong number. He then said he'd quote pictures if I sent them, which I did. I was clear that I only wanted a limited $ amount and his quote came in extremely high compared to other quotes I'd gotten. I decided to take 1 item and when I agreed to it he then bumped that price 60%. Not showing up, erroneous outgoing calls and texts are not indicative of quality performance. Not standing behind a quote is unethical and sad. Read Brandon's response (and lies) and you'll see his character. Highly recommended! Reasonably priced. Excellent work and clean-up. Brandon helped us re-gain control of a very large, overgrown, sick tree, and improved the look of the yard by shaping up several other trees. I can't even begin to say how professional and talented Brandon and his team were. Brandon canceled his vacation plans to help us on a tree that uprooted. We knew it was going to die (it's at Hackberry) but it was almost coming onto our house and making a lot of racket. We tried to fix it ourselves with a bungee cord but it did not fix the situation. I am writing this review purely based on my experience with the company and Brandon. Although my budget was really tight for the tree trimming he worked really hard to meet me where I was. Unfortunately on my end the timing was a little off for the tree service but will definitely keep him in mind. He is a very knowledgeable person when it comes to protecting the integrity of the tree itself. I've had others who did not care, but were just trying to make a quick buck. I could tell the trees were more important than the money. My personal suggestion would be to call him directly and not try to get the Groupon. Groupon can be a hassle for a small business. Reviewing for work in Austin, though this is the same company and phone number matching this Dallas listing. I purchased a Groupon for $400 in services at a cost of $160. I have one large 25-30 ft ash that needed the canopy raised in front, and a neighbor's ash that I wanted to have the overhang and dead branches removed from over my backyard. I also wanted to clear another neighbor's tree limbs that were close to touching my roof line. The estimate for this was $1015, which was too high for me, so I requested a second estimate without clearing the neighbor's tree at my roofline. That one came back at $760. Still high, but doable with the discount. So I went ahead and scheduled for first availability, which was a little over two weeks out. An hour before my 10 am appointment, I got a call from Brandon saying they were behind and would be over around 2 pm instead. By 6 pm, I hadn't heard anything so I left another message. Brandon called me back at 7pm to say he didn't know when they'd be able to get to it. As I'm selling my house and had a buyer inspection coming up that Monday, I asked him to work (my missed appt) into his schedule sooner. He called me back at 9 pm to say he wouldn't be able to do that, and I needed to understand how hard he's working, how much rain we've had, and that he wouldn't make enough on my job because of the Groupon. While I'm sure all of that's true, I'm the customer and was depending on him to do a job, so trying to make me feel bad about that isn't going to work. I told him that I wasn't happy but understood, to cancel the job, and that I would be requesting a refund for what I'd already paid. The next morning he called to tell me that he'd called around to find me a different company so do the work for $400, but he didn't know anything about them, and he'd like to keep the $160 I already paid. I didn't ask for or want him to do that. By this time, I'd already set up new estimates on my own, and was ready to be done with Tufts. I said thanks, but I'm not interested in paying him any money for services I didn't receive. At this point things went downhill very quickly. Brandon lost his temper and proceeded to yell at me about how 'this is what he gets for trying to help someone ' and how I didn't appreciate the deep discount he was allowing me by having a Groupon, or how hard he's working. Realizing I wouldn't get anything out of continuing the conversation, especially since I wasn't able to get a word in edgewise, and not caring to listen to a stranger yelling at me, I hung up. Which started Brandon texting me to continue the belittling tirade. I have never been treated so rudely, and am at a loss as to how someone would stay in business treating customers this way. I understand not having control over the weather, but no one forced him to list on Groupon or to over schedule because he doesn't want to turn down work. read more

We were faced with a super fun situation where we needed a rather large stone sculpture (3000 lbs) moved that was anchored into the ground AND a decorative wrought iron fence with locks on it. (we are talking crane service and a flat bed trailer) Brandon didn't skip a beat or shy away from the out of the norm project. He and his team were fantastic. This company is a complete joke and Brandon specifically is the rudest company liaison person I have ever had the misfortune of attempting to work with. I order this service from groupon and when I tried to set an appointment they said they were too busy to even put something on the books and I should call back in a month. Then when I called back he said "I guess I can't put you off any longer" and booked something still another month out. On the day of the appointment they didn't show up and when I called Brandon he yelled at me and said there was no appointment and I should just get a refund from groupon. NOT A RECOMMEND. This vendor, Tufts Tree Service, would not honor their own Groupon valued at $450. The job of complete tree removal was quoted, negotiated, and accepted. The job was supposed to be completed that Friday. After a call from the owner saying he could not get to the job until the following week I pleaded with him to come out and at least clean up the fallen limb which he did (was supposed to do the complete the full job that day). When he found out that a Groupon would be utilized he took a different tone and attitude. He explained that the Groupon was really for people who were uninformed, could not afford, or did not know how much a tree service cost. Then, after days of ignoring multiple texts, calls, and emails, he finally contacted me again complaining about his own coupon and how it hurt his cash inflow. When pressed to complete the job he said he could not complete it unless he rebid the job for a higher price (presumably higher than the original quote). This was not acceptable. I requested and received a refund from Groupon. I contacted a local tree service. They came out within 30 minutes to quote the remainder of the job (remove the remaining 70% of the tree, including grinding out the stump. 40 minutes after that the crew from L and T Landscaping Tree Service showed up. They had the tree down, stump ground to oblivion, all brush, logs, limbs, and leaves removed, in just over 2 hours. This was all done for half of what the original quote from Tufts. UPDATE: Clearly the comments below, and the review above, indicate that had Tufts known about the Groupon coupon, the quote would have been higher to offset the cost. Again, a local vendor completed the work for half the cost of the original Tufts quote. Apparently a coupon, paid for, worth $450 is not considered legal tender, even when the vendor issues it. Again, it's obvious the original quote would have been much higher had the coupon been remembered at the time the job was bid. In any case, the job was completed for half the price by a different local vendor. Shop around and caveat emptor. read more
