We absolutely love Cali Camp!…read more I have two boys, and both have had an amazing experience there. My older son loved it so much that he is now becoming a Junior Leader, which says everything about how meaningful Cali Camp has been for him. My younger son, who is in 2nd grade, went for the first time last year and is already so excited to go back. What really stood out to me was how quickly they both adapted. My younger son joined not knowing anyone and felt welcomed almost immediately. Both of my boys felt included from day one. The staff is incredibly caring, supportive, and attentive. You can truly feel that they work hard to create a safe, joyful environment for the kids, and as a parent that means everything. The activities are fantastic: well planned, age appropriate, engaging, and fun. The natural setting is also beautiful and feels especially important these days. My boys came home with confidence, stories, friendships, and summer memories they will cherish forever. And the camp spirit is real. We still sing the silly songs at home, especially the announcements song whenever we have a family announcement, and the birthday song too. I cannot recommend Cali Camp enough. It has been such a special part of our family's life.

It's not fancy but they're not roughing it either. It's just the right mix of Topanga nature-inspired tranquility sprinkled with breezy silliness. This is a happy place and you feel it as soon as you arrive. Feels good to leave my son here knowing he's going to have a great day and come home dirty and tired with stories he's eager to share. 5th year and now a Jr Leader - what a lovely place to learn, grow and laugh through childhood summers.

After traveling to speak in China with a colleague about Safe Place as an Art Therapy directive, Dr Richardson , Our Chinese colleague Wang Chunhong, and I wrote a chapter on our experience in the text book, Art Therapy in Asia. Even on zoom, Kathy Leader provides a safe space to make art. She personifies the Traditional Chinese Medicine concept of Dao Yen, loosely translated into - to guide. We had a class on January 6. All of us came to group upset. Some people even kept the news on as we worked. Kathy led us through a breathing exercise and encouraged us to put aside everything but our art for the next hour and a half. I stopped hearing the news in the background and became completely engaged in art making. I felt like a weight was lifted as I worked. Having rarely worked in mixed media and hating my color and design courses in college, taking Kathy's class was a real stretch for me. I decided to try it because I believe Art heals and I needed a push to make art during this Covid depression. I have enjoyed learning concepts of composition and how to use mixed media and am constantly surprised at how I progress each week. Kathy is a terrific teacher/ guide. Andrea Gollub

I love the title, "The Art Process" as it speaks volumes to me as to how much fun and how much artistic satisfaction I get while in the process of creating and the process of learning. I just got back from Kathy's weekend Art Retreat in Santa Barbara. There were so many things about it that were positive. Thanks Kathy for providing an environment where I was able to explore, create, and feel inspired both artistically and spiritually.

Ms. Emily has the biggest heart and is a complete natural at interacting with children so young. At the beginning of the session, when my daughter had just turned 2, she had a lot of trouble focusing on her teacher and following instructions - which I learned is completely okay. Over time, her ability to focus improved and she would look forward to her ballet and tap class every weekend. Her favorite part was when Ms. Emily would give a sticker or glitter at the end of class. I loved watching how happy she was in class and how much she talked about it afterwards. Sadly, due to the COVID situation, the studio has been closed for the last two months and our routine has been disrupted. We're really hopeful that the situation improves in Los Angeles and we can find a way to have the class back in a safe way. We can't wait to be back! P.S. Funny story.. I was SO excited to put my (then) 2 year old in a mommy & me ballet class that I read the class instructions very carefully... the dress code was fairly specific (a certain color leotard, tights, ballet slippers etc). So I thought the moms were supposed to dress up just like their daughters. First class ever, I showed up in full leotard and tights to dance with my girl! After that, I realized the moms come in regular clothes so I was careful to dress appropriately from then on. Just a tip for other moms enrolling in the mommy & me class!

In other camps, the coaches are actual coaches for Olympic athletes. This camp made discus/shot put throwers spend majority of the time running and training with the runners, instead of learning throwing technique. You don't learn much and for $300, don't even get a shirt or feel much camp culture. We would have been better off spending our effort, time, and money going to the San Francisco camp.

We were invited to a 5 year old birthday party and it's a cool spot. There's lot of fun activities such as air hockey, basketball, a doll house. magnetic tiles, jumbo jenga tiles, foosball, a VR headset, an art room, big screen TV, and a crafts table. Yes, there's lots of stuff to run around and play with and to fit whatever interest your LO's heart desires. My LO just turned 3 so a lot of the games really weren't for her but she LOVES crafting so we spent most of the time at the craft table The art room looked cool but would be cramped if a bunch of kids ran in there There is a connected room with a long table where the kids eat and pizza and cake are served The owner and his family are super nice and helpful. One star off for no longer having a parking lot. My friend said it had been converted to an outdoor play area but we came on a day it had rained so maybe that's why it wasn't available for the party. Parking is a pain but persistence paid off and I found a spot two blocks down. Be careful of permit only parking areas I don't live in the area so I don't see myself coming often but it think it's a neat place to take your kids but I feel age 5 and over would appreciate it more

I took 2 kids (not mine) age 7 to this camp. The facility is huge with different rooms, activity areas, and even a kitchen to make lunch as a group. The day the kids went, it was lasagna rolls. Before choosing this place, I looked at other day/summer camps like Zooga or options like Pamper N Play. I asked some questions via email and they were pretty fast in responding and being very helpful. Upon arriving, there were a couple kids who were "regulars" and all seemed happy and excited to be there. The facility looks like a very equipped community center/rec room. Clean, well maintained, a huge plethora of toys to keep a kid very busy. During the day they leave the venue to go to the beach, a local park, zip lining, etc. Seems very well run, organized, and they start the day off by having a meeting as a group to talk about the day's schedule and activities. I came to pick up the kids 15 min early and they were having such a good time, I let them play until it was time to go because they did not want to leave. Worth trying out to see if your kid enjoys it!
