I discovered this place a few months ago when I was looking for more indoor experiences for my son to enjoy. We immediately fell in love this with this place. There are so many little nooks and crannies that make it an endless place for kids to explore. They have a climbing wall, a tetherball area, a trampoline, a little hide and seek house, multiple basketball hoops, slides, and climbing features! think it's so wonderful and beautiful that the staff take the time to really get to know the kids, memorize all their names, and even get to know their likes and wants. Toddlers require a lot of patience and Ed, Amanda, and Laurie are so kind and patient with them! (All the staff are, I just can't remember the names of the others I've interacted with). I appreciate them not judging us when we chat up with the other moms, and even do a great job looking after them to make sure they're OK even though we moms supervise pretty well at the same time. Best part is every10 minutes or so they change up the activities to make sure that the kids stay engaged. They integrate balls, climbing Obstacle courses, mazes, swings, singing, drumming, and have animal toys as well. Absolutely incredible space, people, and business. We just had my daughter's third birthday here and they went above and beyond-- and the kids were SO happy. To start: they were wonderful with communication before the party, with sending photos and info about the space. On the day of her party, I showed up and immediately a team of people started coming outside to bring in all of our supplies. I forgot to assemble a lot of the decorations, yet they didn't bat an eye. They started making flowers and butterflies, putting down table cloths, connecting the slideshow, and putting up decorations. They put out all of our food and beverages, and started playing with my two kids while we waited. Absolutely amazing help. During the party, the team at APEX was incredible. They planned fun activities for the kids and really met them on their level. Some of the children were jumping on the coaches as if they were best friends-- that's the kind of love they were giving. And by the end of the party, the coaches knew almost every child's name. I'm the mom and still had to question myself with names, yet they addressed every child by their name. Truly, just a very gifted and involved group of people. They are professionals in the truest sense. We are moving across the country in a few weeks, otherwise I'd immediately book my son's birthday party here. And we've done it all- soft play in our back yard, a children's museum in SM, a ball and bounce place in SM, and playgrounds, but APEX made my daughter's birthday party so special that we'd do it a thousand times over. I booked my daughter's 3 year old party at APEX at the beginning of 2020. What sold me is that they are flexible with outside food and beverages. We could bring anything we wanted as long as it stayed in the food area. The party consisted 2 hours of hosted active play - obstacle courses, swings, zip-lining etc.! We had 3 party hosts they navigated the party from beginning to end. Parents were able to sit back and actually enjoy themselves which was nice! In between obstacle courses, the party hosts did a great job entertaining kids in between. About half way through the party, all party guests took a break to eat. As a shoeless facility, I wish they enforced it better. For example, when setting up the party, everyone was wearing shoes and once the party guests arrived, shoes were removed. So, everyone's' socks were pretty much black after the party. Also, there was very little communication leading up to the party, just an email confirming the details. I actually had to call the venue directly to answer any last minute questions. Overall, the birthday girl and party guests had a fabulous time! I definitely recommend APEX for high energy parties! read more

I visited apex with my older 2 kids and always had a blast but was extremely disappointed today and I don't want this to happen to anyone else. They double booked my son's birthday when I dropped off forms and paid a deposit. I couldn't change the date because right before the holidays and I have 3 other kids schedules. I booked 7 weeks in advance with several emails back and forth with the manager. 2 days before I email her to confirm the head count and instead of having the guts to call me she emails me an apology that they made a mistake. It was so devastating to my son. Thankfully we found a backup 2 days before at the same time!!!! Please if you plan a birthday here double and triple check so the same thing doesn't happen to you. My son's favorite gym class! He has special needs so it is hard to find a place or program suitable for him. But Ed was fantastic. We LOVE Apex !! The class is absolutely amazing and Ed is brilliant with the kids. All the other teachers are superb too. It's my sons favorite class and he eagerly waits for it. They have a nice blend of the obstacle course, core strengthening, swings and play tIn no time my 2.5 year old started enjoying swings again after a few months of avoiding them. My sister had a birthday party catered here for my niece's 1st birthday. My niece A goes here on daily basis. went there a few times as I accompanied my sister for my niece's birthday and also when my niece A was taking class. APEX has such a large area for the children to explore - a gym just for kids! It is a really great environment to nurture the little ones to learn and practice basic athletic skills. There's a ball pit for the little ones to stumble in, toss a few balls around - and in the beginning of class, they get to go around all the obstacles learning how to run around. A little playground just for them. Within moments, it gets moved on to the next part of the class which could be playing with animal figurines, being put into swings which allows them to feel the breeze, learn how to walk on a plank, jumping on the trampoline, etc. The staff all around are very accommodating, gentle and understanding. For my niece's birthday, my sister reserved the location, brought the catering there - which was set up on tables which popped up in another room. And it was babies galore that day. It really let parents bond with their children in a safe nurturing environment while allowing them to learn about body awareness and improve their self confidence. I haven't check out yet if San Diego has a place like this, but I sure do hope they do when I look around when I have a little one. I believe it's very beneficial and helpful for the little ones to learn, seeing their parents as models and also interacting with others around their age but all the same having fun :) Parking wise - there is street parking around the area, and a parking lot. Best play space for kids! We've been to a lot of places around and this one is our favorite! Fair price for a great service! Pros: spacious, clean, always not to crowded, Welcoming, friendly staff, well structured classes. Ed - is amazing, our daughter loves him and other kids too. Cons: simply none! More staff supervising your little ones compare to other places. I really like that every time they build a different obstacle course for kids. read more

My little one and I love apex! Super great facility, very interactive class aged based, parking in the back, and very helpful front desk employe. My daughter always has a great time here. The staff is super nice and every time I'm in the alway super attentive, very well trained young adults ! I have noticed that The main coach Ed is a little mean to them and I just would recommend from a professional standpoint for him to avoid that especially in front of parents it's a bit deceiving and uncomfortable when your standing right there and he makes a blunt comment to staff. read more

This is the kind of place that makes me wish I had placed all my previous reviews for anything at 4 so this stands out as a 5 star rating. Seriously, this was the most amazing experience we have ever had at a gym! We are visiting LA from New York and I had some time and energy to burn through with my 5 year old son. Checking the previous reviews and seeing from the website that it was open gym hours, we went on over. The gym is brand new, two months old, and features not just the standard gym pieces but also some pieces of equipment that Ed made himself to help young kids with balance, coordination, and core strength. While he's not a PT or OT himself, after having been to many Physical and Occupational Therapists with my son, Ed was pretty indistinguishable. He spent the entire time with us, letting us try everything under the sun and pulling things out of the back to keep my son engaged. I don't think he has ever had a more exercise and fun filled hour in his life. Thank you, Ed, for making today extra special. read more

I absolutely love APEX! We've been coming to classes for over a year, my son started when he was 2 and has moved from the 2.5 year age group to his current 3.5 year age group. I have seen the activities strengthen both my sons physical skills as well as his emotional skills. Working with others, listening, team play, gross motor and fine motor skills as well as confidence building.. APEX covers tMy son absolutely adores Ed and Danielle! Ed, the owner, makes this gym a really great environment and each class, a great experience for the kids. He is energetic, understanding and patient with the kids and they respond really well to him. My 20 month old needs some time to open up in a new environment and participate but after 3 classes, and Ed's constant encouragement and positive energy, my boy really grew to love APEX and Ed. Otherwise, it's a huge indoor space where kids can run around and play hard and unhindered. They have low basketball goals, a big trampoline, a small slide, huge ball pit and a rock climbing wall. Throughout the hour of class, they also bring out varieties of swings, tons of fairly new toys and challenging but fun obstacle courses. 2-hr street parking is abundant around the building. Pricing is reasonable compared to MyGym, which is a much smaller space. No knock to MyGym, as we liked the instructors there too, but APEX is just a superior space for your kid to play. I also like that APEX starts with open gym, as it gives you some leeway on timing. read more

I wish I could say good things about this place! Ed is super kind (to your face). I have heard he will talk about the parents and nannies behind your back. Happened to me. The facility is constantly dirty and I have many times seen dried snot and dirt on toys, balls and mats. I felt as if the teenagers hired hated being there. They would push my child on the swing as if they dreaded another second of it. The receptionist Dan is constantly texting on his phone. They have a great idea of what they want to be but you could honestly take your child to the park for free and do the same things. Or maybe sign them up in gymnastics but APEX is a waste of money. :( read more

All I can say is WOW! We had a joint birthday party for my two kids (6 and 3), with 26 kids in attendance. They did an AMAZING job of keeping all the kids engaged and made sure everyone was having fun. My son is typically a bit cautious about trying new things but Ed would say things that gave him the confidence to try the different activities. The staff was wonderful, always checking in to see what was needed. They helped me set up the party room, distribute lunch and cake out to the guests, clean after the party and load my car. I've had parties at MyGym and Scooters Jungle. The service and level of engagement from the staff/Ed was superior. If you're thinking of having a party here, just do it. You won't regret it. Just make sure you keep your own tally of how many kids arrive. They miscounted and tried to charge me extra for 2 additional kids. Something I probably should have clarified with Ed but they also included an infant in the count who actually just sat at the side and didn't participate at all. APEX was the place of my son's 4th birthday party two days ago and they has a really great time. It's a new venue and very clean. The owner championed everything and his staff took care of the rest. He was great with the kids and kept them busy the whole time. Lots to do. There is a metered public lot behind their location so parking is easy. They have a TV in the room where you eat. I was able to throw some photos on a flash drive and have them cycle during the party too, which was cool. They have a big refrigerator so you just bring yourself, your food, drinks and utensils and you're good. Tipping the staff is appreciated. We gave $20 to each of the three staff, excluding the owner of course since he is the owner. A good experience for the kids, I believe we around ten, plus lots of parents. read more

If you are anywhere near West LA and have kids, you have to get in here! This brand new location is stunning: big, spacious, and full of fun. Every time I turned around, Ed (the owner) had my 2 year old son participating in a new activity that was not only fun, but also taught him a skill - like jumping, climbing, balance, taking turns etc. They offer classes, open play, and offer the space on weekends for birthday parties for up to 35 kids. There is ample street parking, and a large parking lot in back that charges a maximum of $4 for 10 hours. In LA, that alone is a selling point! And the location! On Santa Monica Blvd, right off the 405. So easy to get to. I cannot say enough ... you have to experience this place for yourself. You'll be hooked. I am ... I mean my kid is :)! All the guest said the place was really nice , clean and entertaining . There isn't enough planning that can ensure that a toddler will enjoy his birthday. That's why Apex is the BEST option. From the moment the kids enter the space, their eyes light up and they start running. Ed, the owner, knows what the kids love and can customize/configure the space to ensure a great experience for the kids. We had a party for 25+ kids - ages 2-7 - and their parents. We received glowing feedback from all the parents, and of course it was very apparent that the kids LOVED the space and the staff-led activities (and these are kids of all different types of temperaments and energy levels.) My favorite part was the "maze house" - the kids took their light up light foam sabers in there to get "Darth Vader" who attacked from holes on top. Priceless. The space is also clean and well taken care of (it's new). I was frustrated at first that each activity seem to last longer than scheduled, but I realized that we did have a lot of kids for taking turns, and the staff was just going with the flow and letting kids enjoy the space without restrictions. What a great place! After only visiting Apex one time, my son kept definitively asked me if he could have his birthday party there. Luckily, the space was available. I worked out the details with Ed, and the party was awesome. The location is great. Parking is great. The space is clean and big. And, the way that the party room opens into the play area is so great for a party. The adults could eat, drink, and congregate while the kids played. We knew that the kids were safe and entertained. My son and his friends had the best time - they loved all of the activities. The staff was so wonderful and accommodating. They helped us set up the room (which looked amazing). They helped prepare the food and set up the platters (they have a mini kitchen in the back). They made sure that all of the kids felt included and could safely do the activities (although it was a 5th birthday party, we had kids there ranging from 2 to 7 - they all had a blast). And, best of all, they took care of all of the clean-up. By the time that we were ready to leave, they had already packed up all of the extra food and drinks, loaded the presents, handed out the goodie bags, taken down the decorations, and thrown out the trash - woo hoo! I was concerned about having a "cookie cutter" birthday party at a play place. Rest assured that his party did not feel "cookie cutter" in the slightest. Ed and his staff made it personal for my son. Apex even has a big TV with a usb output - he told me to bring a flash drive with pictures of my son and his friends, and it would run as a slideshow throughout the party. What a great personal touch! Seeing pictures throughout the party was a subtle, but really nice, bonus to make it special for everyone. I highly recommend Apex. P.S. As a helpful tip, we ordered an ice cream cake from Baskin Robbins on Wilshire. They were so wonderful and accommodating - they delivered the cake to the party at the right time to make sure that it was the right consistency for the party. If you have a party at Apex and your child wants ice cream cake, I highly recommend using them as well - they were awesome. read more

Went to a birthday party today here. They are outstanding. The activities and the staff and proprietor are kind and gentle and understanding. I accidentally pinched my daughter's finger in the door and one man was so wonderful with my daughter and me. He got ice. Talked to her. Asked me if I needed a minute. These guys are pros. So understanding and professional. The kids loved it. Even though during the party one of my twins hit her lip and cried. And the other one twisted her leg and cried. And just so many tears. We had a birthday for our 6 year old here and it was amazing. I've been to practically every kid's bday venue in town, and I can say this is by far my favorite. Ed (the owner) and his team are super friendly, professional, and most importantly FUN. We had kids as young as 1 to as old as 7, and every single one of them had a blast. The space is large, clean, and full of obstacle courses. Great music, and Ed has tons of activities that they put together on the spot. I made a couple mistakes and forgot a few things, and Ed and his staff immediately had back up plans for me and saved the day. Just went by for a free free play session to check this new facility out! It's a really big space and the owner Ed was really great with the kids. He has two kids of his own so he gets it! I was surprised my one and a half year-old could do some of the cool obstacle course equipment. They also have parking in back and area for birthday parties. I cannot say enough good things about this place and the staff. Ed - you are the modern Mr.Rogers sans sweater and what you are doing is genius. My son looks forward to his apex class every week and I think I get more excited than him. It is the best place ever for our very active and curious son. APEX is Awesome! We just had my son's 7th birthday party there and everyone had a GREAT time. We had kids of all ages from 2-8 and all had a blast! The zip line and rock wall were a big hit, but the real fun was the way Ed and the other staff could change the obstacle courses to new fun in just minutes. The kids were able to use a variety of skills as they moved from one activity to the next. The friendly and knowledgable staff knew just the right activities for each age group to keep them safe and entertained. We loved having the whole space for our party and not having it crowded. There was plenty of space for all the kids to run, jump, and play. The only hard part was getting the kids to leave! We can't wait to go back! I would absolutely give it 5 stars. The disappointment is the limited open gym hours. Recently open gym hours were changed and the new hours really don't accommodate traditional non-working hours. Our son had a BLAST here for a friend's birthday party. A nice open space that allows kids to wander through the different play areas, depending on what they're interested in at the moment. Parents didn't necessary have to follow them from spot to spot while keeping an eye on them either, which allowed for more of a relaxed supervision. The activities were a lot of fun for all the kids. It looks like the owner overall runs the show with the various activities, with the other employees following his lead. It can get a little bit hectic, so minor spills here and there, but the employees all looked very on top of monitoring for safety issues. We may have to look into doing a repeat here for our own son's birthday party too! read more

They bring out all sorts of activities for the kids including a run-through maze, obstacle course, swing, zip line. And they change it up every time so it never gets old.
