This place is amazing. We just came back from a week at Tumbling River Ranch that lasted through the end of June. We have two young children, one under 5, one who is 7. The big question for us was if they were going to enjoy it. Turns out, they loved it. The ladies who watch the children (Meghan and Meg, you rock!) were nothing less than stellar. They took the kids on scavenger hunts, horseback riding (or on the back of a pony for the tinies), to the critter pen to pet the animals, swimming, the list is endless.
What really makes the place special is the staff as a whole. Tumbling River is high touch, it is clear that they want their guests to have a memorable time. This same sentiment comes from the owners, Scott and Meghan. They are very involved in the day to day with guests. One example is that they noticed we enjoyed hiking. Well, there is a 14'er hike that is 15 minutes up the road from the ranch (Mt Bierstadt). They asked if we'd like to try it, and they arranged a way to get us up there early in the morning, which included someone showing up at our cabin to stay with our kids while they were still sleeping. That blew us away.
As far as the horseback riding, it was fantastic. We always felt safe, with the understanding that these are horses, not programmed machines. The wranglers (Kellsey, Will, Emma, Shelby, Jake, Josiah, & Christian) were top notch. The riding was up and down. You are in the mountains, not on the plains, so don't come in with the expectation that you will be loping non-stop.
So, point is, we'll be back. This ranks up there with the best vacations we've taken. If you like being outdoors, high touch service, and horses, you simply can't go wrong at Tumbling River. It has something for the whole family. read more
