Jones Road and 290. This is the location that I've been using for years. I've throughout my lifetime had many different haircuts and many different places but Hannah at the tuneup is amazing. She always treats me like the only person in the store. She has a staff that supports her very well that I can see. It's nice to have shiner in the fridge when I get there. I have never had even the slightest bad experience at this place and I will continue to use them as long as they stay open which I hope is a very long time. read more

So here we go...I have been driving by this place twice a day every day for two years. I had no clue it was a high-end men's Barbershop. I thought it was an Automotive or Truck parts store. One because of the old orange pickup truck by the road with Tune-up across the door. And two because the sign from the road said Tune-up. Who knew it was a high-end barbershop? So now we get to Jackie, sweet and funny. Why they call her sour Jackie I have no clue. She was super nice and funny. Now what did I get for 40 bucks? Just a basic haircut. I was offered a shampoo but turned it down. I was told it came with the haircut. I would have preferred to go old school and have the back of my neck shaved. That would have put them over the top in my opinion. So overall I give them a 3 only because 40 is pricy for a quick 15 min haircut. Will I go back yes, I live 3 minutes away and Jackie was entertaining. read more

As a longtime customer at this location, I've consistently sought your services around significant and important days. Until recently, I have enjoyed the amazing experiences that align with my preferences. Unfortunately, my most recent visit, which coincided with an important event, left much to be desired. I have always presented the same reference picture displaying a V-shape beard with a longer length in the chin area and shorter sides. This style has been perfectly executed by the staff in the past, aligning with my preferences exactly. However, during my most recent appointment, I encountered a severe breakdown in communication and effort with my initially assigned stylist, an older Asian lady named Mandy. Despite providing the familiar reference picture, Mandy rushed into trimming my beard without seeking any clarification or discussing the details of the desired style. This resulted in the entire chin area of my beard being trimmed from around a 30mm length down to 5mm. I was very shocked to realize what happened and instantly I expressed my dissatisfaction about how short she made my beard. Mandy insisted that the considerably shorter length was intentional, leading to a frustrating and unnecessary disagreement. I must express my deep appreciation for Alex, who stepped in to rectify the situation after I have complained to the front staff about what has happened. Alex's skills and commitment to customer satisfaction were creditable and positive, and I left feeling appreciative of his professionalism. I want to note that despite the initial screw up by Mandy, I did tip Alex for his effort and care to make things better for me. I would also like to mention that every other staff member, especially during the check-out process, has been very sincere and apologetic. While I appreciate the owner, Bryan, subsequent outreach and the offer of a free future service, the distress and frustration caused by Mandy's rushed approach and lack of communication was significant, especially given that this occurred on the day before my college graduation. I remain optimistic that my feedback will be taken constructively, contributing to the ongoing improvement of services at The Manly Salon. I am not in any form attempting to discredit the establishment as a whole. However, based on my recent experience and in consideration of other similar concerns raised in previous reviews here on multiple platforms like here and Google on Mandy's service, I strongly advocate for the reconsideration of Mandy's employment within the establishment. Her rushed approach and lack of attention to customer preferences have left me dissatisfied, and I believe that the overall customer experience would significantly benefit from her removal. I feel compelled to advise potential customers not to allow Mandy to perform services on them. Beware if you do business Tune Up salon on Barker Cypress. My son went in for a simple shave that should have cost $14.00 which is what he asked for upon arrival. He was charged $35 + 20% tip (he selected tip amount) because they said he wanted a full shave. Yes he wanted his full face shaved but again asked for the $14.00 shave. This is the second time they did this to him. My son is high functioning autistic and wants to handle these things himself with his own credit card but I feel he was taken advantage of for the second time and the last time. read more

The haircut was fine, apparently you have to constantly remind that you trim and not cut. Even though I'm pretty sure the "Barber" gets a ticket saying what services you've asked for. I kept having to remind her that I said beard trim, not cut. She then said "you should say trim not cut". Jackie Russell stylist is one of the worst stylist for the business she look down on clients even though we tip her even when rendered poor services. On three separate occasions she provided poor service like cutting mustache wrong which let to cutting off to do damage control. Hence, bedside manner is a poor representation of Tuneup company franchise, thus sense I bought a high end VIP package which allows certain services but when I makes an reservation for she only carries out haircuts and beards trim but pawn VIP off to other stylists so she don't have to do manicures, pedicures, eyebrows wax, ear wax, and nose wax. Thus, when brought to her attention she said I have other customers and only giving 30 minutes of services even though reserved schedule appointment for services pass basic and give right away to none vip service holder. So, strongly don't recommend her along with location if enabling her to flaunt franchise vip program who pay monthly fees and tips.
