My yard looks way better than the 3 years I struggled to "do it myself" and still spend a ton of money on fertilizer from the big garden stores. I think our technician was Mike - he was super polite, professional, and cares for our lawn like it would be his own. I had an unidentified weed come up across my yard and they were able to identify it, treat it, and get rid of it at no extra charge to me on my pre-paid plan. Another thing I love is the text messages they send the day before a treatment - it helps me ensure I know they're coming and keep the kids inside just for the treatment. Their products are pet and kid safe after just a little while and I really appreciate that! I would 100% recommend them - in fact, I just finished pre-paying for this next year. read more

I started lawn service with Turf care Enterprises in March last year 2025. -Fertilizer/Pre emergent in March - 15 minutes after application we had a 40 mph sustained wind all day. In March the lawn is not completed grown in, there are bare spots so wind will blow off pellets. Lawn didn't seem to be responding to fertilizer, so I called and requested they re apply it due to the wind. they refused. -Pre emergent did not work (Prob due to the wind after application). Lawn full of crabgrass. I called the office and told them I had crabgrass. Tech came out. Said he didn't see anything. I said there is crabgrass all over the lawn. He said he would check it out, but if it is crabgrass he didn't have anything in the truck for it. I called shortly after he left and he said it was crabgrass. A few days later it was not dying I called the office asked if he used the right weed killer they said no. So he knew he had nothing to kill it with, but did nothing. They sent a new tech out. Things were going pretty well, lawn was looking better. - I was told I should aerate and seed in the fall. I set it up with another company since they had better equipment. Turfcare applied the final fertilizer and weed killer mid september in preparation for the seeding. 3ish days later, half my lawn erupted with quack grass!!! I was then told there was nothing they could do, because you can't spray quackgrass without killing the lawn and I should NOT aerate and seed because the quackgrass would spread. I was left with my lawn ruined and no option. -But wait, a manager (Ashe) came out and looked at my lawn and said it was too late in the year, but they would aerate/seed in the spring at NO CHARGE to me. I thought, ok lets give this a chance. we talked several times about the order/timing of applications to avoid killing new grass in spring. I asked him several times, "no charge right?" he said yes. I had to continually reach out to him asking for this "spring plan." finally 2 months later, right before thanksgiving he emailed me a "spring plan." In the email, the plan hiked me up from the Silver plan to the most expensive Platinum plan, after his "discounts", it was $700 for 2026!!! $300 more than last year! He included liquid aeration which we never spoke about. I was charged around $450 the previous season on the Silver Plan, which should have been the same for 2026, since there was no charge for the aeration/seeding. I feel like he was stringing me along for 2 months saying no charge for the aeration/seeding, and he was lying. It's bad enough that my lawn was RUINED with quack grass (and also other weed grasses) which I never had in my lawn before, but to string me along for 2 months saying no additional charge and then to charge me is horrible. I'm a senior and I don't appreciate following after this guy for 2 months to get this set up for 2026 and then have him do this to me. Bottom line, cant trust them to do the job right. Can't trust the techs or the managers. I really need natural fertilizer for health reasons. I REALLY wanted this to work out well. Since I watered consistently all summer and this happened after the final fertilizer/weed application, I think there were weed seeds in the fertilizer. So disappointed. read more

But now under control for the most part, the lawn is looking better each year. We had tried other lawn services the prior years and our lawn was getting worse. Bare spots, weeds and grub damage to name a few. After much research I was happy to find this company. Their attention to detail was exceptional. They sent out a tech named Cynthia to meet with me and discuss the problem areas in my yard. She was extremely knowledgeable and gave us a recommendation for all problem areas. Cynthia applied the recommended treatments and always made sure to show me exactly what to expect. I contacted Turf Care around November, 2020 because I saw my pine tree needles have turned brown. I sent their service advisor James a few pictures and he told me it was caused by is Dothistroma Needle Blight and recommended I contacted again in Spring for fungicidal treatment. I had very positive impression at that time and assumed I found the company who could help me take care those pine trees. Boy, was I wrong! I contacted James at the beginning of April this year, reminding him of my problem and wanted to schedule an appointment. He said he would get back to by the end of the day or at latest next day. Then.. he just went AWOL on me. I called the main office at least 3 times and each time I was told he was busy talking with other customers. Each time I left my name and phone number and asked him to call me back and he never did. After waiting for two weeks and no callback, I left a voice mail directly on his phone just last Friday. Still , so far no response. This is super unprofessional! If they are not interested in my business, at least they should have the curtesy to call me back so that I can look for other options. Super disappointed! Update on 4/30/2021: James called me back apologizing for the delay and scheduled an on-site inspection with one of their technicians Brian. Brian and I had a great discussion about the problems I have. He came up with a plan to treat my trees and shrubs that make sense to me. I decided on the spot to let him do the first treatment on that day and signed up late with Turfcare prepaying all the treatments Brian recommended for 2021. Today I got a follow-up call from James' manager assuring me this incidence was really uncharacteristic. I am switching my review to be 4-star considering Turfcare took swift action to correct course after my complaint. If my pine trees/shrubs become healthy after all the treatments this year, I will definitely switch my review to 5-star! read more

Not often enough do we reach out and let our service companies know that they are doing a great job. We have had Turfcare for as long as I can remember that I have owned our home. Turfcare has kept our lawn looking incredible during the "great" mid-west seasons we have had. Since we added the perimeter pest control it has proven to be really beneficial. We do not have to call an exterminator to handle ant or other undesirables. Turfcare always provides the details of the work done along with a hand written note from the technician. His notes are always a nice touch to let us know what needs to be done. I also appreciate the follow-up phone calls from the office to find out our satisfaction and about any areas that need to be taken care that I might not have got to talk the tech about. Gave us a quote. We paid for the entire summer service upfront. We had called several times to get them to spray the lawn. They finally came out. We ask had a lot if new weeds coming in. We called several more times to spray again. Funfair came out 3 weeks later. Haven't seen them since beginning of May. We've called numerous times and get the same bs sort story that we're scheduled for such and such day. Low and behold no one comes out. I have tried a couple other companies in the past at my previous home which really made me question these lawn care companies. I tried turf care based on the reviews and my god ITS FOR REAL! I wish I would of done a before and after but needless to say the amount of light brown patches and bare spots went down considerably. I made sure to follow there after care instructions and grass cutting techniques which has helped create a lawn that looks healthy and almost weed free. Mind you I just started them a couple months ago and after only one core aeration, overseed, and two fertilizer and weed control applications my lawn looks awesome. I'm not going to lie it's not cheap for the service but at least you get RESULTS. read more

I got a quote in the email from one guy, I called and got passed around by 2 other guys to try to understand what's included in the quote. The initial quote is 40% more than a couple of other companies I quoted from and with less service. The others quoted spring and fall aeration & overseed after coming out to inspect the place. But they only looked at software mapping to sell me a product that's supposed to guarantee most beautiful and healthy lawn. And I was told that at the 1st service they will do inspection to determine the condition of the lawn. I am afraid I cannot understand the logic. We are very happy with Turf Care. For starters, they were the only company out of the four I originally contacted that came to my house in order to provide an estimate. The other 3 companies simply quoted me from what they saw from Google Maps. After using them for one full year, my lawn looks noticably better. Crab Grass was out of control in my yard, now it is completely eliminated. They always leave detailed information of the work that was performed as well as seasonal lawn care instructions. This is my first full year with Turf Care. The sales guys I first talked with were very professional, promising wonderful service and free return visits if I was not happy (weeds appeared ...). I signed up for the Gold Program and I used them for the Association too. Everything was great until my lawn got a fungus, the week before 7/4. I called the office twice and those messages got lost. (I was told they are very busy) Called a third time, talked to Carlos (manager) and was promised quick action. 7/6 a "technician" showed up and diagnosed the problem as fescue grass not receiving enough water (incorrect.) Also said there was lots of crab grass. Called again on 7/6, must have heard "I'm sorry" 8-9 times and talked to Carlos again. Carlos told me crabgrass was not around this time of year. I told him his technician said it was crab grass. He asked me how I knew it was a fungus ... it gets it every year. Carlos was rude, aggressive, offered excuse after excuse and said "I dropped everything to take your call" as if an unhappy customer is not important. MY LAWN LOOKS LIKE SH_T. This is our second year using Turf Care and we couldn't be more pleased. They have shown an interest in our lawn, which needed some TLC after last year's drought. The technician does a great job. We've used Turf Care for two or three seasons now and the lawn does look very nice. There are two problems that caused me to cancel the service and look elsewhere. 1) They are always pushing to do more services like aeration, or another application of something else. These add on services are quite pricey. 2) They put their bill in a plastic bag attached to the front door. Due to our location it can get very windy and several times I have found the plastic bag with their bill in our bushes and once in the pond. This causes the aggressive collection calls and notices where you are treated like some low life criminal. The final insult was when I received a bill dated 7/24/2020 showing an outstanding balance of one treatment. I entered the payment into one of my bank account bill payment systems on 7/31/2020. On 8/24/2020 I receive a notice from a collection agency dated 8/14/2020 demanding payment. I checked my bank account and the payment was sent, according to the bank, but never presented for payment. That was it! There are plenty of other's wanting my business and it was time for change so I cancelled payment (at my expense), sent another payment and cancelled their service. read more

Turf Care has been treating my lawn and garden for about 10 years or so. Their services supplement the work done by a landscaper for maintenance. I have found them to be both knowledgable and responsive. If and when a question arises, either it's answered on the phone or an arborist or another team member stops by to take a look. At times the answer is nothing is amiss. I don't ever feel that they are trying to push unnecessary services just to increase the bill. They apply a senior discount to the bill without a request, which is much appreciated. I have recommended them to friends and neighbors who have commented on how lovely our landscaping looks. read more

We found out about them from a neighbor, and we needed Turf Care's help after the Grayslake area tornado a few summers ago. Our yard was in very bad condition due to the huge fallen trees that tore up the grass, and Turf Care was able to get our lawn back in good shape. I have used Turf Care for two years now. My yard looks beautiful after some neglect by previous owners. Sod is thick and now only has some minor weed intrusion. I have TC's gold pkg. Staff is knowledgeable, professional and courteous. They come back and fix anything between applications if needed at no additional charge. There are services out there that are less money, I've tried a few, but TC is s good value for what they deliver. read more
