I've used Advanced Tree Care twice. First time couple years ago I needed to remove a tree that was uprooting and leaning on wires, and another troubled tree. This year I had companies come out to asses all my trees and advise me on trimming. I had areas I was concerned about as well. Sean and his team were great to work with both times. Don't hire these company! Found them at the home show in Grayslake met with the sales guy super nice came out in the spring cut some branches and stumps then coming back in Nov to cut my big oak tree. Well November comes rec'd two emails they were coming out they had to cancel the 1st one because of weather, never showed for second appointment called was told by the owner sales guy left the company and he knows nothing about his sales? Unfortunately, our home was hit bad during a recent "microburst". In addition to damage to our home, garage, and fence, we also ended up with a backyard full of debris. Beware. These guys can't seem to fill a work order correctly. Confirmed our appointment, took the day off to be home for it, and they didn't show. This was a return call from previous job done. Everything was great except for a few snafus, came on time, workers all wearing helmets, very safety minded and all friendly. One big suggestion, when getting a quote for trimming branches, make sure you get in writing which branches are to be removed. One review stated they were happy with what they already trimmed, and asked if any other remaining branches needed to be removed. Well that never happened to me, I mentioned about a branch and told me that wasn't in the quote. Get a photo if possible or someway to identify the branches you want to be removed. They will have a led light to point out the branches you want removed. Get that on paper!! read more

Well it is Christmas Eve in Northbrook so I guess we better trim some trees. But this year it isn't a tree for the front window it is two badly neglected trees in our yard. So at the recommendation of Advanced Tree Care we had some targeted surgery done while the trees were enjoying their winter dormant rest period. We had ATC out earlier in the year to remove and trim up some other trees but these two like the cool of the winter. So this morning when the thermomator hovered at a sunny 16 degrees a crew of 4 showed with smiles and layers to give the much needed trim job. The crew was moving from the time they arrived until the they loaded up for their next stop less than 2 hours later. They almost seemed to whistle while they worked on this Christmas Eve morning. They did an outstanding job and asked us more than once during the process if we were happy with what they had already trimmed and asked if we had saw any other remaining branches that they should remove. When they finished the trim job they made sure all stray branches where cleaned up including our neighbors backyard and any wood chips in the street. They surely left our yard in better shape than when they had arrived. So bottomline is they arrived on time, the lumberjacks were all very skilled and pleasant and finally they cleaned up their mess plus. I am happy to say that we won't be seeing them next year but down the road they are who we will call if we need a trim or removal. read more

The work that this company did was acceptable. However, the owner has a terrible attitude and a very poor businessman. The recent problem stems from a proposal that they made where they left off one of the services. I signed off on the contract based on the total proposed amount. After they finished the work, they sent me an updated invoice which was higher than what I signed off on. I contacted the owner and offered to split the difference of the amount in error. He seemed angry and said "so you expect me to eat the rest"?. Of course, he accepted my offer as he had no recourse. He was in no way apologetic for their error and then said outright "do not call us to do any more work for you!" I won't be using this company again and won't recommend them to anybody else. I will also inform other people that have used them to not use them again due to the owner's unprofessional and poor business practice and attitude. read more

I had previously written a positive review for tree trimming work performed by Advanced Tree Care, but I'm back to update my review based on poor customer service regarding a spray and soil drench performed on my magnolia tree. I have tried calling and emailing to get ahold of someone to discuss my issue, and have been ignored repeatedly. I wanted some questions answered about the service they performed, as I have not seen any improvement in the magnolia scale since they treated the tree, and wanted to understand how long it should take to work. I was emailing with Lori who recommended a service that I already had done, and after I told her they already performed that and it hasn't worked, she stopped responding to my emails and didn't answer any of my questions. I also replied to the email they sent me with the bill for this service, and I was told I would be contacted by an arborist to discuss the issue. That never happened. My husband pointed out that one side was crooked. Called the rep to come out and fix. Was reprimanded like a child because the crew was not advised before they left. After my first review, Mike (the owner) stepped in and immediately worked to make everything right again. The results were ... jaw-dropping. Really. He coordinated repairing our garage without inconveniencing our schedules -- and the work was first-rate! (His guys even paint-matched our existing paint perfectly ... then left us the leftover paint for future use.) Then, he worked with our original guy (Dennis) on the landscaping itself, stating that, even though it looked fine to our eyes, he himself thought it could have been done even better. And it WAS done better! The entire time he worked to make things right, he regularly updated us on the status of the repairs -- and you could tell that his earnestness to make things right was sincere and heartfelt. Mike clearly takes pride in the quality of his work, and he demands the best from the guys who work for him. When things went off the tracks (as they did with us initially), he was shocked to hear the news -- then determined to leave us more than satisfied with the remediation. We recently had to have a tree removed and another one trimmed. Mike came out and we could tell right away versus the other folks who gave us estimates (four others) that he knew what he was talking about and that he was truly interested in helping us and improving the condition of other trees on our property. While we waited for the quote we prayed it would be one of the lowest but assumed it would be on the high side - alas - it was one of the lowest for the most work. So we went with Advanced Tree Care. They took care of working with the village to get the permits and the crew came out and did a quick job and except for not knowing they were supposwed to leave some lumber for firewood and leaving a few foot sized holes in the yard (where the trunk had fallen) they did a great job. The ground down the stump about a foot and a half into the ground - way better than other jobs we've seen in the neighborhood. If you have a tree trimming or removal need call them! read more

Let me start by saying that the arborists did an exceptional job removing my giant ash tree located in my backyard basically boxed in by phone lines. Ever since I knew that the tree had to come down it was a huge burden on my back. This was not an easy job, as im sure most of the arborist jobs arent easy and if the conditions arent just right can be potentially dangerous... Not just for the arborists but for neighbors and potentially for yourself. If its too windy the falling limbs are all of a sudden much harder to control, same thing for rain. So this must be taken into consideration when rescheduling. I too was annoyed by the fact that it was pushed back almost a month from the original date, but after everything was said and done I realized it was the only decision they could make without putting myself, my neighbors, and most of all the arborists at risk. So if there is a tree you need removed, plan ahead. Dont call and expect it to be taken down immediately, this is poor planning. Anyways, I watched most of the tree come down (some parts i just couldnt bare to watch). And these guys really impressed me. They made it look easy, and I know that it was anything but. Like I metioned before this tree in particular was boxed in by wires allowing not much room for limbs to fall. But they somehow managed to barely even brush up against the wires. I called Advanced Tree Care hoping to get setvices from a knowledgeable company to trim trees and bushes in my yard, rather than just have my grass people do it. What a disappointment! The trees were barely trimmed - when I asked about it, they said they are only supposed to take the deadwood off. Guess what - now that there are leaves, you can see that the trees are full of dead branches. They left a bunch of cut branches in the bushes, I am having to spend hours taking them out, and it turns out that the way they trimmed privets will lead to bear branches only with greenery on top, not a nice hedge I was looking for - I will have to have someone else cut it again. Another set of bushes appears dead after the pruning. I feel like I threw a lot of money away. read more
