We had one of larest Maple trees in the area, it was in a fenced in yard, (too) close to the house, it suffered from squirrel damage, and we had little choice but to have it removed as the next wind storm could bring it down on our house. Removal challenges included utility lines, a tool shed, a wood deck and of course the house. We called several companies and decided to go with Neighbor Tree Service. When we requested a quote, Ray was there in 15 minutes, he walked the site, listen to, and cleary understood our areas of concern. The qouted price was very reasonable and combined with good online reviews we immediately felt comfortable going forward with awarding Rays crew the job. The crew showed on time and immediately set to work. Each worker knew their job as they quickly setup ropes, staged tools, and got er done. Any concern about the building & utility lines where put to rest as I saw Ray on site , "hands on", and directing all operations. The whole crew was friendly, acted professionally, worked as a team, and kept the work area clean and safe. We hated to see such a large shade tree come down but during removal, some of the cut away sections exposed insect damage that confirmed that removal was the only real option. I just have to say that Ray and his crew did an excellent job in removing a 40+ ft tree from our backyard along with other smaller bushes and trees around the house. We were having a hard time deciding between all of the various arborists in the area but decided to try Neighbor based on the number of good reviews. Well, they are definitely there for a reason and we're so glad we had them do the work. The owner Ray and the others were all very pleasant to deal with and they will be our first choice to contact for future work. The price was also very reasonable for the work done, and let me tell you, they work. The first day they came out it was just one of the guys by himself because the rest of the crew was busy on other jobs due to the number of trees that had fallen with the strong winds the other day. Anyhow, the worker was extremely efficient and with just himself and a chainsaw he had every branch cut from the trunk within an hour. Probably more like half an hour. They came back today with the chipper and had everything cleaned in an hour. The log truck arrived very shortly after to pick up the large cuts of the tree trunk which took all of about 5 minutes. Ray and the crew at Neighbor Tree Service did a phenomenal job transforming our backyard into the outdoor retreat we were hoping for. We have a small yard that had a 60-year tree growing in the center of it which made it difficult for playing ball and yard games. It was a tough decision to remove the tree, but we are so happy with the results after it was completed. The tree had a ​huge infestation of carpenter​ ants that we didn't know about so we were glad it was cut down instead of falling on our house. Our yard also had several problems, some of which were because of the tree roots mounding much of our backyard. We also had issues with ponds forming in the Spring and during heavy rains, an uneven ground, and grass that was very overgrown with weeds. Thanks to Neighbor Tree Service they corrected everything wrong with our backyard space. They removed the tree, the stump​, leveled the yard and added drainage, placed new sod, and several flower gardens were installed. We couldn't be happier with the final results and the great work completed. All work was provided at an affordable rate, done quickly, and everything cleaned up at the end. Ray and his crew are FANTASTIC. Timely, efficient, responsive and clean. Will definitely utilize them again. I needed a tree removed in my backyard that was half hollow due to insect damage. Ray answered the phone, agreed to drop by that day to provide an estimate for removal and stump grinding and left the estimate in my mailbox. He called back a few days later to confirm we had all the information we needed and I told him I would be in touch. His estimate was the same price as another guy but Ray had provided a written invoice estimate and the other guy did not. I also inquired about if he could take some other brush I chopped down that was hanging out and he said no problem! I said DEAL! They came, they chain-sawed, they conquered. He had to come back a few days later to grind the stump as it's a separate machine, but as promised, came back, took care of the stump, spread out the wood chips as mulch and gave us some advice about a couple of junk trees, drainage and retaining walls. Ray and his crew are amazing!! A week ago we had an emergency situation where a wind storm split one of our trees and a large limb landed on our neighbors house. It was late Saturday afternoon with only 3 hours of daylight in the day left. I tried 2 other tree services and no one answered their phones. When I called Neighbor Tree Service, Ray answered. Within 1 hour, he was in my back yard assessing our situation. With the consistent winds still in the area, Ray determined that the remaining half of our tree needed to be removed that day, or it too, might fall (on our house). He called his crew in and they worked for hours into the night, removed the tree limb from my neighbors house and took what remained down.They even raked my neighbors yard to remove sticks and leaves etc that had fallen!!! They returned the next morning to remove the tree trunk sections that they had stacked on the side of the house and on Monday morning to mulch what remained. Each visit promised, with absolute professional follow through! I hope nothing like this ever happens again, but I know EXACTLY who I'll be calling if it does!! read more

I was extremely nervous about the removal of a giant elm tree close to my home in Old Town and I got several quotes for tree removal. Two companies declined to quote saying that the job was too complex for them. The Neighbor Tree team not only seemed confident about their ability to do the job, they seemed excited for the challenge. Their confidence helped quell my fear of felling this giant tree that canopied over not only my house but my two neighbors. They had no room to work and had to carry out the entire giant tree by hand as no machinery would fit down our gangway. The team arrived cheerful on a Sat. at 8am and mastered the very difficult job happily and without incident by 5pm. The entire block was watching the progress throughout the day. I have a dog business and one of my trees crashed into my fence the day before Thanksgiving!!! I Have called many places in the past for all kinds of projects and this was far the best experience I have ever had!! He answered the phone at 830 am and came to my house an hour later! After recent storms in the area took it's toll on a tall and aging tree, with a couple of branches dangerously hanging near or over the house, Ray's group was able to come out same day and assess our needs and given the damaged state of a couple of large trunks, was able to accommodate us the next day. Very professional crew and after a couple of short hours of very warm late June work, our shabby and damaged tree looks amazing and definitely has restored it to a much healthier state. This is a wonderful and courteous group of guys that Ray had on site today and as requested, was even able to leave us large chunks of the wood to be used for some future projects. Once the work was completed,the crew was so thorough in their cleanup that aside from some tree shavings and an improved tree, I couldn't even tell they had been here. I needed a second estimate and noticed the high rating on yelp. Called for a quote and they came out the same day. I usually use a big name tree company out of Mundelein but Neighbor came in almost $700 cheaper with stump grinding included!!! They arrived early and started as soon as legally possible. They are very organized. 7 guys and each has a specific job assignment, really interesting to watch how the process works. They even took care of temporarily relocating the cable tv and phone drops to avoid any damage. This crew understands customer service and is working for repeat business and high ratings. Our front and back yards had become a jungle of weeds and tree stumps. The weeds all interlocked underground. We couldn't begin to tackle the mess. Designs of April came up with a lovely and affordable plan, and Neighbor Tree Service came in to execute it. They arrived at first light, needing nothing from us except access, and quietly set to work. They trimmed three trees and a hedge, uprooted all the weeds, moved and/or planted to fit the plan, mulched, and even moved (and buried) the gutter runoff piping so that water no longer runs down our basement steps. I can't say enough good things about Ray, Manuel and their team. I received an in-person quote from Ray within two hours of calling, with an appointment set up for about a week after that. I needed to reschedule due to a home repair and I was accommodated within minutes with a next day time slot. We had a fir tree removed and an ornamental pear tree trimmed that was is desperate need of attention. From their initial visit for a quote right through the day of service they were excellent to interact with. They did everything exactly as described and it looks amazing! We had them take out 3 large trees and one smaller tree that had died. They also removed a couple small brush piles and trimmed back and shaped 3 of our overgrown fruit trees. Once the were done it looked like the trees were never even there! They removed all of the debris, mulched the trunks and branches, ground the stumps, raked all of the remaining tree debris and essentially made it all disappear! I hired this company to trim 2 Japanese Lilac trees in my front yard. These are high maintenance trees that grow like weeds and have to be trimmed yearly. Ray and his team showed up on time and completed the job during a drizzling rain in one hour--including cleanup--and their price was very reasonable. I can truly say that the trees have never looked this good in the 10-12 years that I have had them(check out the before-after pics).
