Only reason I am posting this is I want to save anyone else the possible frustration. I used Turf Monsters do install a little rectangle of grass (315 sq ft). The existing grass was infested with weeds and what not, so I figured turf was the way to go in the long run. When it was installed, everything looked and seemed great. But then the old grass started popping through the turf within two weeks after a small drizzle (over 50 patches through the turf, not just on the edges, but throughout the entire turf - weeds were puller, and about 50 more popped up days after hosing the turf down with simple green). Turns out, only the top inch of old grass was scraped off, no weed killer was applied, and no weed barrier was placed down (as I was told and was specifically mentioned on their website). When I inquired about a fix, my rep said that the installers were on disciplinary action for cutting corners, and stated that they would fix the poor installation - the turf would need to be pulled up, the DG and more of the old soil taken out, and then weed killer and a weed barrier put in properly. But, when the owner found out, the only way he offered to fix anything was I would have to pay for all materials and labor myself. He stated that "no one" actually digs down deep enough to solve weed issues, no one puts weed barriers down for turf, and people just get used to spraying weed killer all the time as this is standard maintenance for turf owners. I mentioned that this is not what I was told from the original meeting, and explained that their own website states that existing dirt will be dug down, weed killer applied, weed barriers installed, then new DG laid down. The owner was quite angry with me, rude over the phone, and yelled at me with every question and proposal I asked or offered. The original installers were later sent back to my place to "make it right," with threat of being permanently fired. I was told to relay back to the rep what the installers planned on doing (as if this is my responsibility). They never showed. Owner refuses to acknowledge or uphold two-year warranty for labor. Owner even refuses to reimburse me for products that I paid for (weed killer and weed barrier) that were never applied. Rep agrees with me and wants everything fixed, owner refuses. I feel like I wasted a lot of money for a product that looks like I have to mow it every time it sprinkles or I hose it down. What a waste. I am incredibly disappointed in the final product, very frustrated with the owner's lack of care or concern for a professional product, and incredibly mad at myself for wasting money on something that is worse than what I had before. I know Turf Monsters has many positive reviews, but I feel this is worth sharing if it saves someone else the frustration, time, and money that I experienced. Response to comment: Their website specifically states that a weed barrier in part of the installation. I was also verbally told that a weed barrier would be installed, hence why I never questioned having to purchase this separately - I was never even offered purchasing a weed barrier separately (I would have happily paid extra if I would even have known). And yes, the comment is correct that I did state after the turf was installed that the owner's solution of spraying the top of the turf with weed killer was not acceptable, as we have small pets, and this is just a temporary solution anyways and thus unsatisfactory (but, I had no problem with weed killer being laid down before the DG was applied - which it clearly never was - though fully expected and paid for). Owner said it is not his responsibility to monitor what the installers do as he cannot go to everyone's house and babysit them, so the fact that they did not properly dig down the existing dead-grass layer, nor apply weed killer before the DG was laid down was simply not their problem. read more

Shortly after having artificial turf installed, we had a quality issue with our turf. Initially reached out to the Turf Monster sales rep that we had been dealing with and unfortunately he was no longer with the business. So we submitted the issue with Jordyn at Turf Monster. She initially denied the claim but ultimately told us that the owner Mike would get in contact with us. After an initial call and some follow-up texts, Mike said he would send someone out to remedy the issue. That was the end of August. Didn't hear anything so followed-up with Mike the beginning of October. Mike texted back that he would get someone out "ASAP". Almost two months later and have still not heard back from anyone at Turf Monster. Now I'm trying to move on from the headache of dealing with Turf Monster and getting quotes from other landscaping contractors . Good luck if you choose to go with Turf Monster for your landscaping, but based on my experience there are better options in the Valley. read more

My issue is they take your money up-front then two months later you may or may not get work done. Their communication style is immature and if they knew scheduling and some honesty, they would be even better. They tried to install a 5.00 timer from ACE hardware until I caught it. They installed a bad valve which caused my system to leak for months until my neighbor behind me had to come over since his retaining wall almost collapsed, not to mention my water bills. Took almost a month to get them back out here. The travertine boarder around my turf wasn't finished with concrete so that had to be fixed it shifted within a week. Had to raise hell to the owner Mike who said and I quote "they'd fix it and do something nice for my trouble. Well they came out and fixed the border and I was told the valve, timer, and border are fixed. Well now that summers has arrived and all the bushes they planted are dead I go check the system to see why and they installed a broken timer. Don't waste your time or money with this company! Called Turf Monsters to get some help with designing landscaping for my front and back yard. On Eric's arrival we had a discussion on some of the poor reviews regarding the owner. He seemed to feel that the owner's customer interaction was OK and I advised I did not agree. I spoke with your office staff initially who then had YOU call me directly. I realize the price you provided over the phone was a "range" but my square footage didn't change from what I provided to you over the phone from your own measurement. So I am not sure why the quote you provided wasn't in the same ballpark after meeting with me. In any case, this was something that happened 5 months ago. I was having trouble keeping grass growing in my back yard. Then I thought about it I'm getting older and don't always have time to cut the grass and I'm wasting water as half of the yard was dirt/mud when wet. Their representative Ryan came out on a Saturday when they are not even open to speak with me and work on an estimate. I scheduled for installation and as it happened they were able to come to install turf a week earlier than originally planned. While installation was going on Ryan checked in to make sure all was going right. When they finished the installation turned out better than even Ryan himself expected. I hired Turf Monsters to complete a large job of replacing my entire irrigation system and then adding pavers to ¾ of my yard. We picked Turf Monsters due to the fantastic reviews. First off, our turf does look beautiful. The quality looks great and I am hoping that it stays that way. When you walk on our turf with and without shoes it feels a little lumpy. I don't think it is supposed to feel that way. There is also a cut by our pavers that is not straight and doesn't look that great. When I talked to the company, they said that it is a human that cuts it so it won't be perfect. Also, if you use this company make sure that you confirm that they are doing what you requested for your job while the team is on the job. We caught them not doing something we asked and we think/hope they corrected the issue. The salesman was nice and I did feel comfortable going with Turf Monsters.
