I understand it's summertime, and you're busy with out-of-towners, but this past week, I had a particularly disappointing experience. At least once a month, I stop by at 7:30 AM and grab a premade Italian hoagie, asking the deli staff to add mayonnaise and oil and vinegar. They've always done this without any issues. However, this time, I was told they were not allowed to do that. It was frustrating because I was trying to save time on my way to work, and I had to let them make me a new Italian hoagie on the spot which made me late for work. When I spoke to a gentleman in the produce department about it, he seemed surprised and couldn't understand why they couldn't accommodate my simple request. Today, July 30, my Bride called in an order around 11:30 am to be ready for 5:00 Pm She ordered a pound of unsalted ham and an Italian hoagie without pepperoni. When she picked up the order and checked it in the car, she found they had given her honey ham and included pepperoni on the hoagie. She returned to the deli department, only to be told that they were closed and couldn't fix the mistake. This was particularly frustrating because we needed the order for that evening, not the next day. I'm very disappointed with the recent operation of the deli department. Management needs to take a closer look at what's going on and ensure that customer service standards are maintained.

But I was not prepared for what I was gonna find behind those double doors. Not in the middle of Pennsylvania and a small village that's for sure! The right hand side of The Store, fully 20% of it is hot food bar with a lot of Asian selections and probably one of the best meat counters and appetizer offerings I've ever seen, not to mention great produce. The whole store is laid out really well, it's immaculate, and they have a selection that would rival any grocery store in Newport Beach, California. Literally, The Store would beat the pants off any Gelson's, which is an awful lot. Anyway, they have beer and wine offerings on the far right hand side of The Store along with a nice seating area in the back. If you decide you wanna eat any of your food you're taking to go. The hard alcohol is conveniently located next-door to the right, just in case you were wondering.

Our whole visit pretty much sucked from start to finish: 1) The girls working this year are snooty! So sorry to bother you with our orders. 2) The fried foods we tried for the first time this year are AWFUL. The "cauliflower wings" had a parmesan sauce that tasted like an odd hot sauce. The broccoli bites had 5% broccoli in them. The mozzarella sticks were hard breaded logs. The cheese curds were at least edible. 3) The soft serve that got the syrup flavoring were melting everywhere. Literally every person we saw who had a cone was dripping all over themselves and running back to get a cup. 4) The "waffle crumbs" that one of us ordered were MASSIVE chunks of broken waffle. Who wants that as a topping?? And they were so stingy with sprinkles. We were so shell-shocked to have such a bad experience here because this *was* our favorite ice cream place in the Poconos. So if you're in Honesdale to go to the Wal-Mart or Home Depot, or to eat German food at one of the Central European restaurants that I've never been in, by all means drop by the Dollar General.
