Goat Korma, Chicken Tikka Masala, Naan

We came 25 minutes before close and they turned us away. Definitely not coming back here.

I came here for the Vegan Prix Fixe menu (Yelp Instagram giveaway winner) The menu was beautifully crafted, with each ingredient combination thought out. Personally, I found the food salty, but others did not. They thought it was perfectly seasoned. Since there was two of us, we got to try the entire menu. My favorite item by far was the butternut squash soup. This creamy, decadent soup was flavorful and comforting. We also ordered the Chicken Tikka as an addition to our meal, and this was my second favorite because I love the flavors and how juicy/tender the meat was. Not only was the food absolutely amazing, but so was the service. Everyone was super attentive and I loved how they explained each dish, even the chef came out. Big shout out to Executive Chef Anand Pokhrel for explaining his thought process of this menu. You can see the passion he has for his food, definitely try out this place!

Veggie Pakoras

We went for lunch and tried some new things. We had a new appetizer Golden Prawn they give 6 big size golden fried shrimp with a fresh Ginger & Garlic paste served on top of a garlic Maya sauce. Double Delicious. The 2nd appetizer Was a tried and true veggie Pakora fried balls with carrots, spinach, chickpeas, potatoes, onions, small peas with turmeric and spices. The entree was Chicken Jalfrieze. One amazing dish consisting: Boneless Chicken, onions, peppers (just a tiny bit), green beans, big chunks of cauliflower with sweet chili based tomato sauce. This yummy dish is served with Basmati Rice which is lightly drizzled with baby peas on top. We also had a freshly made Garlic Naan bread. Totally delish!!! Can't wait to go back and try new food.

Nutty coconut naan

My partner and I enjoyed the complimentary papadum crackers w chutney, vegetable momo, khasi ko masu (spicy), lamb do-pyaja (medium), nutty coconut naan, and Rupee beer - TASTE: 5/5 - started off great w the selection of green, tamarind, and red onion chutneys and flavorful vegetable momo. The coconut flakes on the naan were so good, added such a nice balance of sweetness. Enjoyed the spice level of the khasi ko masu bone-in goat, but liked the sweet sauce of the lamb even better. The Rupee beer was a light and refreshing complement to the meal TEXTURE: 4/5 - the papadum was addicting, so crisp and easy to devour! The naan was fluffy and perfect for cleaning up the sauces, along w the basmati rice that came w the entrees PRICE: 4/5 - subtotal came out to $58, which I thought was pretty good SERVING SIZE: 4/5 - left stuffed and w a couple boxes of leftovers SERVICE: 4/5 - we walked in at 6pm on a Friday and were immediately seated and served the complimentary papadum crackers! There were only a few tables occupied when we arrived, but the space was full by the time we left, w a regular string of folks coming in and out for takeout orders. Our waiter was kind and attentive ATMOSPHERE: 4/5 - the space was larger than I expected and warmly decorated, w a merch section too! Good for small and large groups, and the plating looked a little elevated PARKING: 5/5 - ample parking in their dedicated lot

My first time coming to this restaurant and I honestly loved the food. The Vegetable samosa and butter Naan was my favorite, but honestly all their food was delicious. I'm really glad I got to meet the 3/4 owners and the creator of Rupee beer! They were all so nice and friendly. Definitely need to give this place a try! Can't wait to come back with my grandpa lol he loves Indian food.

Rupee beer

Absolutely delicious food. I came here for a Yelp Elite event and got to try the kashmiri tikki, vegetable samosa, shaag paneer, butter chicken, vegetable rice, and butter naan. Everything was absolutely fantastic. I did have a Rupee beer with my meal. I don't personally like beer, but wanted to try it anyway. I did notice it was much more tolerable than other brands of beer I have had, The service was super friendly, and the restaurant itself was clean and organized.

I absolutely loved this place! The restaurant is very plain looking but the food was absolutely delicious. We tried everything we could on the menu, and I am astounded by how authentic the Nepalese and Indian cuisine was. We ordered so much but I have to make special note of the tandoori shrimp and khaasi ko masu (lamb curry). They were so delicious! I also have to say the service was quick snd the inside of the restaurant was very spacious and clean. There was also plenty of parking. I would 10/10 come again.

Matar Paneer (takeout)
Anish K.

Decently good Indian food. Have seen a few misses on some orders though. Butter chicken (spicy) had good flavour to the gravy, but the chicken was not so great. Matar paneer (spicy) was a bit bland with rubbery textured panner cubes and the Matar seemed to have been cooked seperately so lacking any flavor. Bhindi masala (spicy) was a bit too oily (usually it is, so can't really fault it) but tasted ok.

Five stars five stars! Went here after another community event and I'm so glad I did. Staff was…read moregreat when I couldn't decide and I was very grateful for all of the vegetarian and vegan options! Prices were very reasonable and the portions were HUGE. I'm very glad. Each dish was really meant to be shared (based on size alone). Ambience is really relaxing. Warm lighting, cloth napkins, footed water glasses. All in all it would be a really cute date night spot too.

I have been fortunate to be able to find and dine at several Himilayan/Nepalese restaurants in the…read moreBoston area, and every one of them has so far been a great experience. Tonight, I added Momo Masala to that list. I was also fortunate to have friends who live nearby, and when I mentioned to them I was going (hopefully to invite them), they said it was one of their regular places for take-out. But they also informed me that they did not have a liquor license. But that recently changed!! They now offer beer, wine, cocktails, and whiskey pours - none of these are huge amounts, but there are certainly enough options for any of these. Our group of 4 did sample several cocktails. They aren't super fancy (though some drinks do have garnishes or salty/spiced rims), but everything is well crafted. Momos first, if course. They offer several varieties, but if you prefer yours steamed, read the menu carefully, as not all varieties are available steamed. We got vegetable and chicken momos, the chicken ones in a broth. Their medium level of spiciness provided a nice but not overwhelming kick. Our entrees continued the high quality. Their chicken tikka masala has a very dark and rich sauce, and the chicken chunks were tender. The lamb was equally good. The naan here (we got garlic) is very crisp, just the way I like it. This is a popular take-out spot, but there are enough tables to accommodate people who dine in conveniently, with a relaxing ambiance. This is another great add to the wide variety of dining options in Jamaica Plain.

I think there is a lot left to be desired here. I had a party of 7 with a reservation, but they…read morecould not seat us until 15 minutes after our reservation time. This is due partly to another party ahead of us not leaving promptly, but I think the restaurant could have been ready ahead of us as well. I will admit that I enjoyed the ambiance - it had nice low lighting with contemporary decor which made a nice dinner spot. The service in terms of both the waiters and kitchen did not feel timely either. It took a while for drinks to arrive and there were barely any water refills in general. We ordered four different dishes on our side of the table and they were somewhat bland. The vegetable momos definitely need some kind of sauce since they were lacking in flavor. We also got a curry chicken thigh, beef noodles, and butter tofu. I think only the beef noodles had a good enough flavor profile and kick to them. I was also surprised that the portion sizes weren't close to what you would expect for the price. I think with so many good south Asian spots in the area, it's hard to recommend Martsa. I might consider coming back if I learn that there is a particular dish that I am missing out on.
