Just realized I never reviewed this phenomenal establishment. Located on a bustling street of myriad options aimed towards all arenas of life and living hides THIS ethnic paradise. Super friendly greeting and hosting. We had multiple servers checking in, bringing food, refilling drinks etc. The place was bumpin too! The food was artistic and delicious. You can tell they went the extra mile with everything they did. The free crispy starter with 3 delightful dipping sauces got things going right out of the gate. I earned myself a free entrée this afternoon when I got lunch at Turmeric House. I participated in the spicy vindaloo challenge. Despite some occasional moments of doubt, I vanquished it. I got my lunch entrée for free plus a gift certificate for an additional entrée of my choice down the road. If you can handle the spice, it's definitely worth trying during the month of November. If you can't, Turmeric House is still a great place to get a not so spicy entrée as well. The staff were so friendly and encouraging and other patrons kept stopping by and eyeballing my entree with trepidation. As an Indian, I'm always skeptical of Indian food in Boston or in Massachusetts. Compared to Indian food in California I couldn't find any good Indian food in Boston. However, due to chance on a family trip and trying to find food that wasn't the typical East Coast seafood. We came across this Indian and Nepali's restaurant that was to die for we had the Rogan Josh lamb and the chicken biryani and tandoori chicken and garlic naan and all were very good. The service was quick and courteous. It's a small place but it's definitely popular from what I've seen. I highly recommend if you can't find good Indian food in Boston then drive down to Plymouth and you'll get your moneys worth. read more

Turmeric House has opened a full service restaurant and bar in Downtown Plymouth serving Indian and Nepalese cuisine. Their other locations are in Weymouth (full service) and Braintree (SSP food court). The Plymouth location offers a full service dining room with table seating, seating up at bar serving mocktails (liquor license pending) and a few high seats along the wall and a nice painted mural on the left wall. While I was visiting the area, I decided to get some takeout food from Turmeric House in Plymouth during their soft opening phase, ordering online through Toast. I ordered the Vegetable Korma ($16.95 plus tax) with basmati rice and the Cheese & Spinach Naan ($4.95 plus tax). My order was all set and ready for pickup in 15 minutes. After finding street parking closeby, I picked up my order and headed a park to enjoy my food outside on a warm clear evening. The Vegetable Korma had a mix of cauliflower, peas, potato, green beans, peppers, garlic, ginger, onion, & spices in a creamy curry cashew-nut base sauce. The basmati rice was soft and light, not sticking. The hot naan was stuffed with chopped spinach & melted mozzarella cheese, great with the korma dish. I will stop again at Turmeric House, but it'll likely be at the Weymouth location (closer north) and I also can order a dine-in lunch thali plate. read more

Sooooo happy to finally have an Indian restaurant here in Plymouth. The closest one before this one was hours away. The food: Great. I had the vindaloo, pappadams and the pakoras. Everything was labeled clearly for gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian & vegan!!!! Such a relief to be able to eat amazing ethnic foods without worrying! The ambiance: Well done. I liked the vibe in there. The service: The night was busy for a rainy Wednesday night, but they kept up pretty well although maybe a tad slower than normal. HOWEVER, there was a beautiful Indian waitress that seemed to be running the place who was a cut above the rest as she was warm, friendly and cared and here's why: My mom was looking at desserts and couldn't decide which she wanted but ended up picking one with the waitress' help. Somehow, this waitress picked up on the fact it was my mom's birthday and mimed to me when no one was looking to double check that she was right -- no one had mentioned to her it was a birthday before that. Then, she came out with a sample platter of all 3 desserts with a candle and sang happy birthday. My mom was happy and it was a really cute moment. Wow wow wow! This place is unreal. Always felt like we didn't have a good Indian option in Plymouth but we have it now. Probably some of the best Indian food I've had to date. We have been big fans of their Weymouth restaurant for years and were quite thrilled to hear that they were opening one in Plymouth, saving us the long drive. Tonight we took two friends who had never been to the original, and they, along with us, were totally blown away by the each and every dish that we ordered. Probably the worst dining experience we've had in years. Place was almost empty on a Thursday night at 7:30 when we arrived. WE were excited because the menu has lots of GF options. Goat Biryani was a very large, sharing sized dish, unfortunately most of the meat was gristle and there were lots, and I mean lots, of bone chunks. My wife, daughter and I just got home from dinner here, and I felt compelled to write about how good it was. We have been dying for a good Indian restaurant to open in Plymouth, since we moved to the area a few years ago, and this is exactly what we were hoping for. My vindaloo was perfectly spiced, and the chicken and potatoes were cooked just right. My wife loved her Tikka Masala, and said it tasted fresher than any she's had before. The papadums were also excellent. It was also impressive to witness how great the service was, despite being completely slammed. Our servers were super friendly and attentive, and had us in and out fairly quickly (which is awesome when eating out with a squirmy toddler.) I have eaten here twice, both times during the day. On my first trip I ordered the Korma with chicken. What impressed me mostly was the quality of the chicken in this dish. It was plump, meaty, and cooked to perfection. Honestly this is the reason I returned again. The second visit I ordered Chicken Madras. Again, the chicken quality was great and I enjoyed this visit. I said " I need time come back" I'm so glad I did because this is the type of India and Nepalese restaurant we need in Plymouth. Everything about this place is so inviting. The staff, food , service. All of it! I have had the lamb curry, vindaloo chicken, my wife has had the vindaloo with veggies and the shagg with spinach. Also we had ordered Naan which they have many different flavors. Finally we ordered two orders of samosas on our two visits as starters. Everything is made to order and fresh that makes all the difference. If it's drinks and appetizers you're into, from the looks of it the bar seems like they have their act together. All the cocktails I have ordered were on point. It's so nice to order a drink and know the bartender is knowledgeable and can mix off the menu. That just helps finish off the meal, right? I am not sure where these glowing reviews are coming from. The food tastes like what you would find in the freezer isle at Patel Marketplace. I tried eating here twice, blaming the first bad experience on growing pains of a new restaurant. Both times the food was very sub par.
