Papaya Salad and seating outdoor in the garden
    Henri V.

Tumeric Thai Kitchen is a small restaurant located up the hills of La Jolla in a cul de sac of Windermere a gated community. Plenty of free parking in the lot. This is a casual restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. I was always curious about trying this restaurant from the raving reviews of some yelp friends. As someone who has visited Phuket in Thailand where the food was amazing, my expectation for any comparable thai food is high. Ordered my usual favorites: papaya salad, green curry with veggies tofu and pad thai noodles with shrimp. Every dish was presented nicely and the garden setting was ideal. After taking pics, I tried a taste of the small soup with tofu and enoki mushrooms and found it to be too sweet. The papaya salad looked lovely but was disappointed it lacked flavor, and the shredded papaya was hard to chew, perhaps a little too green. The green curry with tofu and veggies was delicious with the steamed brown rice. The shrimp pad thai noodles tasted too sweet and missing additional herbs. Felt disappointed as I so anticipated a great meal. I had everything boxed Togo. Service was ok but could use improvement by both the young male and female staffers. Although the garden setting was lovely, the food lacked the seductive flavors certainly incomparable to the same dishes I had in Phuket. If your taste buds are not as picky as mine, perhaps this place is worth trying.

True Hidden Gem. No, really, it's actually hidden and hard to find. I ordered the chicken satay as an appetizer and pad Thai with chicken. Both were super delicious. Port Ayan sizes were great. I ended up taking some home with me. They have a really cool and relaxing outdoor dining area with tons of flowers and plants. They have a smaller indoor dining area. This place is good for medium to small groups. Finding the place was a little bit hard. I followed the GPS, but even that looked confusing when you're entering in, but trust the GPS and it'll take you to the parking lot that you need to be in. The sign is very small for the actual entrance to the restaurant. Take a look at my pictures maybe that'll help. Service was great as well very fast and friendly. Glad I found this place. I'll definitely be coming back.

Loveee everything about this place, it was honestly a hidden gem. Went here mainly for their mango sticky rice because I was craving it and we came back a few more times during our vacation! I honestly miss this place because they had the best mango sticky rice ever! And the mango and thai iced tea were also refreshing. Definitely coming back.

Soooooooooooo freaking good! I love Thai foo, especially the green coconut green curry. This place did not disappoint. 1st time here and definitely not the last. Huge portions, couldn't finish it all, had to take it to go. Waiters were very knowledgeable and gave great recommendations. 10/10 highly recommend.

Side order of cucumber salad, where is the cucumber? All dressing. Kind of a rip off for four dollars.

The quality and the taste of the food was OK. However, the quantity was terrible. We ordered the pad see ew and there was virtually no chicken in it with the chicken protein option. We ordered a side of cucumber salad and it was all dressing and no cucumber. Given the total cost, I feel like this was not a good value and probably will not order there again.

If you feed them they will come!!! This quaint little restaurant is a true hidden gem! Flavors are fresh and tantalizing. We had Tom yum soup 4.6/5 The true gem for me was the BEEF PANAG 6/5 the beef was crazy and unbelievably tender!! Marinated for over 24 hours. Drunken Noodles 4.5/5 The only downside is that they get crazy busy so the quality of service was like 3/5 They are very sweet but understaffed. The food came out reasonably quick. Again, it is tucked away. I thought our GPS lead us to the wrong location.

Turmeric Thai is a cute restaurant with a very nice outdoor space. We were seated quickly and the server was attentive and nice. I tried the following: shrimp lemongrass (4/5; flavorful, light and tasty), Thai iced tea (5/5; made just right!), sea bass (4/5; moist, flaky, great sauce and veggies complimented the fish nicely. A light and satisfying fish), mango sticky rice (4.5/5; rice was sticky and just the right amount of sweet and the mango was ripe and tasty). Overall, a satisfying Thai dinner!

I'm writing this in the middle of the night because I cant stop thinking about their new Tom Yum soup. Its genuinely might have changed my life. Literally everything at Turmeric thai is off the charts food (especially their pineapple fried rice) but this new soup has me salivating just remembering it.

If I could give ten stars I would! What a hidden gem! We celebrated a birthday dinner with ten of us present and it was the first time for all of us at this restaurant. I was greeted right away with warmth and kindness. The ambiance was very charming and romantic. Our server was kind, patient and very accommodating the whole time even though I feel we were a challenging crew to handle with having a hard time making up our minds. The food came out fast and we all loved our dishes. Some of the dishes we ordered were fresh spring rolls, pumpkin curry, red curry, spicy cod and Turmeric seafood all delicious. It was a perfect experience and we had a hard time leaving. We all will be back and can't recommend Turmeric Thai Garden more highly!

Spicy Cod w brown rice and an extra side of steamed vegetables

Came here for a work lunch at 11:30AM on a Thursday. Relatively empty, as expected, but because they were just getting started up for the day the service was pretty slow. Had trouble getting waters out to the table and the kitchen staff had to come out to serve and was in a rush to get back in. I've been here multiple times for work lunches, and the food is alright. Pad thai is pretty greasy but at the same time could be a little more flavorful. The spicy cod that I ordered this time was a little dry, both the fish and the rice. Not particularly cheap either. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Every time I have been here there are bees and wasps flying around because of all the plants they keep in their outdoor dining area, which isn't really their fault, but might be a reason to opt to sit indoors for those who particularly mind. Passable lunch spot, but for a good pad thai, I would just make a quick stop at a little mom and pop type shop instead.

Do you want egg? Which protein? There is a lot of variety at The Pad Thai Stand. My companion and I had different styles of Pad Thai and they tasted completely different! (My fork might have wandered over to his dish.) Be aware that this really is a stand- you order at the window, there are no tables. So take your to go box to the beach, or just down the block to the matcha spot and order a matcha to go with your Pad Thai and use their tables. Because The Pad Thai Stand makes every dish to order, there's not much chance of gluten cross contamination IMO. There's one sauce very clearly marked that is not GF.

The portion was exceptional, however, I felt like it it was too much noodle and not enough veggies and protein. I paid extra for ingredients and not only was it not obvious to me that I got what I paid for, what I could see was a small amount only on top, but the noodles were basically just a big glob underneath. The dish was also too sweet. The bean sprouts were nice and fresh, but I didn't see much of the other extras that I ordered aside from a small amount on top. No lime wedge. I couldn't see the fried garlic. I will not be ordering again, unfortunately.

The nearby curbside parking situation was quite easy this time probably because the rain had kept people inside. I remembered that the seating capacity used to be larger than what it is now which was only sufficient for about 10 diners. It could be a reflection that the vast majority of their business was from takeout orders. There was a laminated two-page menu sheet at the service counter. Appetizers, soups, and salads were listed on one side. The other side displayed the chef specialties, curries, entrees, fried rice, noodles, sides, drinks, and desserts. At least half a dozen dishes had an X mark next to them which meant they were unavailable. From the four Fried Rice choices, I picked the Crabby version ($22). Jasmine rice, egg, spring onions, garlic, and real crab meat were the ingredients along with Thai seasoning. When the item was rung up on the register, it was priced at $24. I don't know why there was a discrepancy, but I didn't want to initiate a dispute so I kept quiet. I took a seat at a table and soon afterward, a bowl containing the contents was brought out. The rice was steaming hot. I asked for mild spiciness at level three, however it had more kick than I expected and left a buzz on my palate. The portion size was good, but not for $24 which was the most expensive I have seen for a crab variety. I gave a 3.5 star rating for my dinner at Hot or Not Thai.
