Hands down the best Thai food in San Diego we have found so far. Their panang beef curry is an absolute must. The beef is so tender and unlike any other beef curries where they use just subpar beef and throw it in there. Their noodle dishes are also really great and the chicken wings are a good starter. I absolutely love this place! They do online and phone orders. For some reason when I tried to do a mobile order their spice levels started at 3 so we called in and did a takeout order. Definitely my favorite thai restaurant in San Diego, and I've had a good number of places in San Diego. This is our second time here and it is now our favorite Thai food restaurant! We had the "Sea Bass Lime Chili" which was not to spice but just the right flavors. This is my favorite dish so far. We also had and split ​the "Turmeric Pineapple Fried Rice" with pork. I have had their rice noodle dishes to and are really very good! Both dishes are very tasty and filling. Took a friend here for her birthday dinner. A small place tucked away near Windemere off Mt. Soledad Rd. The three of us love Thai food. Ordered crispy spring rolls, Pad See Ew with chicken, Panang Beef Curry and Asparagus with Shrimp. Everything tasted good and was cooked well. The vegetables were fresh and cooked perfectly. The beef was so tender, like butter off the short ribs bones. The one thing we noticed was that the sauces were thin and the flavors milder than what I am used to eating at Thai restaurants. I don't mean less spicey. I missed the more robust Thai curry flavor and even the Pad See Ew was less flavorful than what we are used to eating. The service was excellent--they weren't crowded, but had a good amount of customers. I imagine they do a big take out business in their location. This is probably my favorite Thai restaurant in SD. I have never had bad service or bad food either. I always go for the Pad See Ew with Fried Tofu and Pad Thai with Fried Tofu, of which both I choose level 3 for spice as I'm not good with spicy food. The portion sizes are very generous and two dishes would work well for three people. I especially love the flavors of each. The Pad Thai is on the sweeter side, but has bright flavors. I especially like mixing in the red cabbage, bean sprouts, and lime juice. The Pad See Ew has a more grilled flavor and comes with Chinese Broccoli. I highly recommend both of these and I will be back soon for my usual order. read more

Take a second to look around when you eat here. The lights, succulents, and overall atmosphere bring an elegant yet light-hearted vibe to this place. I wouldn't have tried this place given that it's hidden near the top of Mt. Soledad. But I'm glad I gave it a shot. The pad thai is a solid choice, and their stir fry (picture attached) got the job done. Tip: 5 and 6 and manageable on the spice scale, but if you jump to 7 it will be "pretty spicy." The regular spring rolls were a bit too minty for my personal taste but still refreshing. For mains we ordered the fried rice and pad Thai. The fried rice was great, very well seasoned and moist. After a long day at Comic-Con 2017. We ventured to this restaurant nestled in small strip mall near affluent residential neighborhood in La Jolla. There is inside and outside seating. We were seated quickly, but the food took a long time to come out...our crispy spring rolls took 35 minutes to make it out unto the table. My husband was upset that the couple at the table next to us got food before us even though they came at least 20 minutes after we were seated and ordered dishes of comparable preparation times (noodles)...it took nearly 1 hour for the entrees make their way unto the table. We ordered drunken noodles with fish and Pad Thai with tofu, some of the best tasting Thai noodles we ever had, the experience though was dampened by the speed of the service. I'm really bummed to write this review because I used to love this place but today's order was too disappointing to not share. First of all they have changed their spring rolls completely different and not good. I'm pretty sure I got the same ones from the frozen section in Costco. The Thai tea is not fresh today and does not taste good. the pad Thai is just not good the sauce taste completely different than before and my eggs are burnt. I cannot emphasize this enough, but what a great find!! My friends and I were looking for Thai restaurants on Yelp in the general La Jolla area and we came across Turmeric Thai Kitchen. Upon reading the positive reviews below and seeing that it had just opened a week ago, we knew we had to try it out. The drive up Mt. Soledad was an adventure itself. We were a bit lost at the beginning, but with the help of modern technology, we found our way to Turmeric Thai Kitchen, tucked away in the back right corner of a small shopping plaza on Caminito Blythefield. The decor had a relaxing, homey feel to it, accompanied by light instrumental music in the background. We were seated promptly and our server was kind, very attentive and she gave us some recommendations. We ordered the Green Papaya salad, Seafood Tom Yum soup, Basil Eggplant with Chicken, Pad Thai, and the Panang Beef Curry. All were excellent and incredibly flavorful! The green papaya salad was really good and had a strong spicy kick to it. But what really blew my taste buds away was the Panang Beef Curry. The best I've ever had. It had the perfect amount of spice to it and the sauce was neither too watery nor too creamy, it was just right. And the beef was so tender that it just melted in your mouth... Absolutely delicious! When we finished our main course, the owner introduced himself and asked if we wanted to order dessert. There were two options - Mango Sticky Rice and Fried Banana with Ice Cream. I personally have a weakness for mango sticky rice and fried banana (which was more like the Filipino banana turon), so I convinced my friends that we order one of each. The mango sticky rice was soft and not overly sweet, which was a nice balance against the crispy and crunchy fried banana. One friend even pointed out to us the small coconut shavings inside the fried banana roll. It's the extra little touches like this that just make your dining experience so much more enjoyable. If you're not in a hurry after your meal at Turmeric Thai Kitchen, take a walk around the Mt. Soledad Memorial while you're in the neighborhood (less than 5 mins away from the restaurant). It doesn't get better than taking in the panoramic view of San Diego with the starry sky after a wonderful Thai meal. To begin, we've never been to this Thai restaurant. My wife and I live by one in Del Mar and it's nothing special. The service can be horrible and the food bland. So, after stopping by the outdoor mall in UTC we decided to head over to Turmeric. Now I don't know the usual route/best route to get there but we trekked up Hidden Valley Pkway in La Jolla which had some amazing views and homes just to find Turmeric. We are glad we made the journey because it did not disappoint. The drunken noodle and pad see ew were great menu items and we topped it off which the mango and sticky rice. I would definitely make a return and hopefully find a better route to save on time, traffic can be brutal. The price in general was decent I don't believe it was too pricey and the quality of the food is what matters. read more

The taste changed much since the last time I came here, and it is really disapointed me, I got tomkha soup, it used to be delicious and it was one of the best of mine. It turned out to be super sweet. The fried rice was just fine, it was greasy, the mussel was salty and I feel like I drank a lot water afterwards and I do think that it totally changed! This was definitely a Yelp find, as it was pretty far out from where I would normally go, and probably never would have found it otherwise -- It's tucked back in the corner of a little shopping(?) center (It was late, so I didn't really see the other stores), with a somewhat inconspicuous driveway. That being said, the food was very, very tasty. We had the Tofu Pad Thai and some Green Curry. Both dishes were spot on! The service was great. From the moment we walked in, there were several hellos and we were promptly seated. After that, our waitress was very attentive, and our food came out very quickly. The atmosphere was great as well. It's just a small restaurant with a handful of tables, and then a few more outside. It's not a romantic feel, per se, but because of how small it is, it lends itself to a somewhat intimate feel. Upon sitting down, we were given some of the saddest menus I've ever seen; 2 pieces of 8.5"x11" paper in a sheet protector! Given the high end decor and clientele of this place, I expected something a little nicer. Our appetizer, the chicken satay took about 30 minutes to come out. The chicken was moist and was accompanied by a flavorful peanut dipping sauce. Also on the plate were a cucumber and onion vinegar salad and triangular pieces of lightly toasted bread. It was kind of weird. I've never ever been served bread with chicken satay. Perhaps I was suppose to make a mini sandwich? For my main dish, I ordered the house special beef panang curry. The mild flavor with a variety of spices was tasty, but overall I was disappointed by the $12 price tag and the small portion. It contained 2 pieces of potato, 6 pieces of meat chunks, and about 6 strips of bell pepper. The dish closely reminded me of a beef stew. Overall the service was slow (although they were apologetic) and at least one of the team members was dressed very unprofessionally. Seriously wearing a baseball cap and a UCSD long sleeve shirt? At the end of the meal, they came around to refill our waters 3 times, but we wanted the check asap to get going.
