My boyfriend and I stopped by to pick up some children's books for a gift. I am in love with this shop. It's small, but clean and well organized. The prices are easily identifiable by the stickers. They have a punch card for buying multiple children's books. Kids can even bring in report cards with good scores to get free books! So so glad that they're promoting reading like this! I went there on April to check out some books and found one that I wanted, a fairly popular book (the four agreements) in the self help category for $2. An amazing find. I do like these genre month sales. The store is small and quiet with good library vibes that we don't usually get from large corporate stores that feel more like a merchandising spectacle. This is a wonderful little bookstore located on Bell Boulevard in Bayside, New York. I have always found several items that I've walked out with. A great collection. And they take donations, but you have to call first. What I love most about this business, is that they employee, disabled and/or mentally handicapped adults. They are caring, knowledgeable, and just really great people. Man, woman or child, you will find a nice selection and something that will tickle your fancy. Great selection of very gently used books in children's section, where I went to find titles for my 3 year old granddaughter. Bought 6 books for $17. Store employs intellectually challenged individuals. Pleasant, clean space, long and narrow, well lit, bright and fun. Parking on Bell Blvd. is very difficult, but spots can be found around the corner. I shop online plenty, but this store is an antidote to the impersonal shopping on a computer. My gf and I walked in, looking to mainly browse. I sought out the sci-fi section. It wasn't as large as I was hoping but I found two books that interested me. Found two other books in other sections as possibilities to buy, depending on what the clerk would tell us about the price. Cute little book store on Bell blvd. They packed in lots of books in the little space. Nice and clean and organized. Due to pandemic they are only allowing one person in at a time and you are given 7 minutes. When I got there someone beat me to the door by a second so I had to wait. Had to knock on the door after 10 minutes to let them know time is up. Going in took a while to figure out how the books were organized. I did not find the books I was looking for but they definitely had tons of inventory. read more

First time visiting this used book store. It is a smaller book store but they have a variety of books. I found 5 books I've been searching for at my local library, so glad I came here. this is a local gem and remnants of one of Bayside's last tiny bookstores (probably only), especially after the old Barnes and Noble left Bay Terrace (replaced by Home Goods). Now that libraries are hard to enter (pandemic 2020), it's nice to either donate a bunch here for people to pick up. It's a small used bookshop, neatly organized by genres. Some modern books mixed in with older books. There's a small kids section in the back organized by reading ages as well. The system is priced by colored stickers, with everything $5 or less. There's some free books in front, and different sales available each month. We got the sale of 1 free book per 5 books bought. This is a cute little bookstore that I never knew was there! They sell lightly used books so someone else can "Turn the Page Again". There's a good variety from science fiction to self help to children's books to memoirs. It's really tiny, so you can really sit and read, but there is a coffee station. There is a corner side where books are "FREE!". Most of the books are delivered from public libraries or people donating them. So if you have some ol books and would like to trade in. It's great this place exists. I love turning in my old books and getting new treasures back... especially for children's books. Baby goes through them quickly and having this place close by is like having an endless library. I do wish they allowed you to use more of your credit at once on new purchases but I also get it. (I think its $5 at a time.) They need to stay afloat and if you kept taking new merchandise by trading in the old, there wouldn't be much money making. To have a gem of a place like this here is worth this small sacrifice. Books are also to be had at a great deal here. They often run $1 promos on different genres on a rotating basis. Coffee is also sold on premise. Come often. You can get lucky bc people drop books all the time. I've gotten some excellent deals on art books and cookbooks. The place is tiny but they pack a lot of goodies. The owner knows her inventory too so she'll tell you if they carry it in storage. And she knows what is popular so she is good at curating popular and interesting titles. They'll also take your name and number and call you if you have a wishlist item. This is great. I stopped by this little used bookstore today while I was in the area! What a gem!!! They have a solid selection of books in a variety of genres (ex. mystery/thriller, science fiction, adult fiction, romance, cookbooks, classics, bestsellers, teen/young adult, and children's). All the books are organized alphabetically by the author's last names on their bookshelves, which line both the left and right side of the walls throughout the whole store. All the books here range from $1 to $5 (I didn't see any books over $5 when I was here). The staff is super friendly and courteous. I am thankful they didn't hover over me like staff in some other bookstores do; they left me alone to browse through the shelves after chatting with me for a bit. I ended up purchasing a book ($4 and in new condition!) and am excited to stop by again in the near future! read more

This is a delightful little place, and I stopped by here quite a few times last year on the way home, lugging 20 pounds worth of books home happily with my wallet only half-empty. I wasn't aware that the store had a cause, until I came across the NY Post article that other reviewers have posted about below. But now, I find that that's more of a reason to love this place. The employees here are very kind, and well-informed about the books they carry. They also have their favorites, and won't hesitate to tell you a tale or two about their favorites if you ask them. They do their best to help you find a certain item if you have a certain title you're looking for; I asked them if they had a copy of McTeague, as I was reading it in school and wanted another copy for the sake of convenience. The next time I'd stopped by, I noticed that they had five different copies of the book, and the employee who noticed me perusing through that shelf recognized me as the person who'd been looking for that title! Can you get more attentive than that? I also like the fact that a lot of the books they carry are "mainstream" and are in great condition; I'd been wanting to complete my collection of the Series of Unfortunate Events books, but it was a bit pricey since they're more than 10 dollars per book, generally, and there are 13 of them. But thanks to this neat bookstore, my collection is now complete! They also have a nice little coffee station and a sofa area in the back where you can relax and have some coffee. I'm not sure if the coffee is free anymore, but it used to be when I stopped by last time (which has been a while, unfortunately). All in all, a great place! Totally worth a visit. read more

I found out about this store when I attended a local community board meeting on Monday. Turns out they *just* opened that day (Mon 2/1). I stopped by yesterday to see if I could sell them any of the books that I couldn't sell anywhere else, and I got $47.40 in store credit! Woo-hoo! Their buyback policy is store credit for 25% of cover price (I'm not sure what happens if the book is in horrible condition, though, as all my books were in good conditions). I wish they gave a choice of store credit OR cash, but since they just opened, they need the cash so I forgive them. Also, you can only use 50% of your store credit at once, until some point when they determine that your balance is low enough that you can use all of it. Kind of annoying, but again, since they just opened, I'll forgive them for trying to work out the kinks in their system. Finally, as a promotion, all books are $1. Or, if you bring books to trade with them (ie. books that don't have a cover price), you can take an equal number of books for free. I'm not sure (and I don't think they know yet either) what you're going to get in exchange for the books you trade them after the promotion is over. Because of this promotion, I got 5 free books, woo-hoo! Starting next month, all their books are priced at 50% off cover price. Ooh~ one more thing. I think I spied a coffee-making set-up in the back of the small store. I was in a hurry to go to work, so I'm not sure. The store itself is pretty small--a long, narrow space with one wall of books. But I'm excited about this store nonetheless. I prefer small indie bookstores (that pay you for your books, even if it is in the form of store credit) over large superstores where I feel so overwhelmed, I end up not reading anything at all. read more
