Went to Bed Bath and Beyond in the same mall and am a Barnes and Noble member, so I stopped by. It's a small one, but with so many closures, I'm glad it exists. My six year old niece asked for fun books to read so I went right to the children's section. A sales associate offered help and guided me to some books I thought she'd enjoy. And of course I had to pick up the discounted Christmas cards for book lovers for next year. During the pandemic, my recipients seem to have enjoyed getting a card in the mail, like old times. As a fan of actual books- I still don't have an e-reader, I recommend Barnes and Noble. They have ebooks also. Toys and games, planners, and calendars here too. read more

As many other reviews also mentioned, this is the smaller scale of B&N location. Maybe due to the space, they didn't have the book I was looking for. But the cashier was willing to order it for me. The cashier was very friendly, which I find that quality in staffs from other locations as well. I know I won't get it from online bookstore ;) But the sales section was a bit disorganized. read more

I called in to see if they had a book in stock, they had it so they put it on hold, and two hours later i came in and wahla the book was right there on the counter.. the cashier did not have to look far.. although this place is tiny they can only carry so much... i was very pleased to know they had the book in stock! cant wait to read it! read more

I've visited this establishment on numerous occasions and was a past Rewards member. After my visit today, I will surely not be returning to extend my business and am returning the books purchased. I visited the store 15 minutes before closing and urgently tried to find what I was looking for. When I reached the cashier, I apologized for coming in late. Dimitrios, the cashier, relayed that it was fine; I still had a couple minutes. During this time, I had placed my phone down to pay, my transaction was complete, and I quickly grabbed my books and left the store. Seconds after stepping outside the store, I noticed my phone was still on the counter. I had two minutes before closing, but the door was already locked, and he refused to open it and had me wait outside for thirty minutes in the cold until he was ready to leave. This was completely unnecessary! Barnes and Nobles in New Hyde Park will no longer have my business, and I hope no one urgently has to be anywhere the next time this man decides to lock the doors minutes early and not allow the mere opening for his hand to reach out and hand someone their belongings. read more

My daughter needed a book for school which the school book store did not have. We went to this Barnes and Noble in my area which is a relativity small one and they did have the book we needed. A staff member asked us if we needed help and we said yes. We told her the name of the book and author, looked it up immediately and took us to where it was on the shelf. We were in and out of the store in a few minutes. My kind of shopping. For a small Barnes and Noble the store was neat, clean, polite and helpful staff and they had what we needed. I bought a Mario toy in manhasett Barnes and noble and would like to return in the lake success store with receipt, but the staff and manager was declining the return, mentioned their store is too small to stock the toy and they don't sell that toy. Barnes and noble had a return policy of could return things in any store within 30 days, and it is ridiculously the manager cannot show any policy about not accepting the return said this is only a verbal agreement. On the other hand, the manager is very rude when explaining all of these. Our family is a big shopper in Amazon, but this holiday we would like to support Barnes and Noble even tho we are paying higher price, looks like it is a mistake, and we would rather switch back to Amazon. Beware of returning things in lake success store, they would give you hard time. read more

My 1st trip here and I really love this location. Small and well stocked. The children's selection is great! Great Disney books. Amazing selection. There are no lines, cashiers are friendly and fast. The only down side is there is no cafe :( read more

The assistant manager was snippy and condescending when I tried to return merchandise even though I had everything required to do so and it was being returned within 24 hours. I wanted to support something other than Amazon to buy books but it was a mistake. I paid $5 extra and got attitude. Basically paid $5 extra for attitude. read more

I'm a huge booknerd! So I'm always at a bookstore, at least once a week. This B&N is the closest to me and it's somewhat upsetting that's so small. But they do have a good selection of new releases and if they don't have it in, they're willing to have it shipped at no extra cost. However if you're a book-lover you'll understand that, when you want a book, you want it at that moment in time. read more

I love Barnes and Noble and walking around the store is one of my favorite childhood memories, which why I was so excited to take my young niece there on a recent weekend. On the car ride to Barnes she and I were both very excited to look at books, but once we arrived to the kids section it was completely surrounded with toys... Needless to say, my four year old niece no longer cared about looking at books because now she was quite literally a kid in a toy shop. This was incredibly frustrating, considering B&N is a book retailer that I would think would want to encourage little ones to read instead of play with toys. I saw other parents also grappling with trying to engage their children in books while there, but it's really no use with all the toys. Really disappointing. read more

This location has been a bookstore for over 30 years under several names and is now a Barnes & Noble. I'd hazard to guess this is probably one of the smallest Barnes & Noble locations you'll ever find. It has all the basic sections but not as great a selection as you'll find in other B&N locations. A fair amount of space is taken up by non-book items like educational kits for children. This location especially would be better served without such items which probably are not big sellers anyway. Due to limited space there are no "bargain" book sections if you are looking for a cheap book. Also the staff here do not go out of their way to be friendly or offer to help. Sometimes they act like they are doing me a favor to ring up a purchase. I give this store three stars for its location and because I like bookstores in general even with the issues I noted. read more

Bottom line: Not that great for kids or parents. Quaint little bookstore but if you're looking for a typical Barnes & Noble with a cafe and a children's area, this is not it. No place to really sit with your kids to read a book, nor any little train area to drink coffee while the kids play. Parents with kids should go to the BN in Manhasset or Bayside. read more

This book store is small so you can't expect it to have everything, but since this is the closest book store to me, its better than none! I've always had good customer service here too! I just wish we could purchase in-store books for the online pricing. read more
