This is not a place I would ever expect to have a bad experience. Never had before. Today, 11/30/2025....what an awful interaction with a miserable women that I was later told is a store manager. I was having a hard time finding a book by James Fell, a fairly well known author. I asked her where I could find his books and instead of simply looking this up I got a nasty face, and a disdainful "I don't know who that is. Are you sure that's the right name?" Not her words...her tone and demeanor. SMH. Another employee, right nearby, assisted me, found the book in seconds and was on his way. No...I didn't buy it. Principle. I passed her again later and got another dirty look....really? Another issue entirely...is there a good reason that there are novels...many novels.... in the religion section? Inquiring minds would like to know. I hadn't been in this store in quite some time...won't return any time soon. Changed and not for the better. FTR...everyone else that I spoke to in the store, aside from the rude manager, was quite pleasant, friendly, and helpful. Wow, B & N...Amazon is eating you. Do better. read more

This is one fantastic store and I always am in for a treat each time I stop by this location. I have been here many times and never know what new item (or book) I am going to find. This shop is big...really big and very bright. It's an inviting atmosphere. Their team members are also very friendly and helpful. I can't help but to love the idea of putting a Starbucks here. You can get a coffee grab a magazine a just relax for a few minutes. Located in a large shopping center with an easy in and out off Old Country Rd. makes it an easy stop. You may have to look for a spot because it is a very busy center with many great stores located here. (That's a whole other review.) They sell a lot more than books. The front of the store is filled with a plethora of plushies, knick knacks, posters, candy, wrapping paper and lots of calendars. Holiday times brings out a completey new set of items. There are the standard tables of best sellers, but most of the books are towards the back and upstairs on shelves and other tables It is a surprisingly big store. They have their deals if you join their club or buy multiple items. They also have quite the magazine collection. I always wonder if they have every magazine published. It's a huge display of everything about everything. The store is well maintained and there always seems to be a team member close by. Always a fun stop at this location. So there aren't many Barnes and Nobles left, especially in the city, but this one in Long Island is awesome. They are in a shared lot with other businesses so there's also a shared parking lot. Plenty of parking. The first floor is all books as well as the checkout counter. Each section is labeled with the best sellers one of the first sections. Horror, History, Non Fiction, etc. it's easy to find a specific book if you need too. Each section is also in alphabetical order as well. The 2nd floor which you can take stairs, escalator or the elevator. Not positive on the elevator but pretty sure they have one More books on this floor mostly for children and kids but not the entire floors. There's also a very large toys section which is awesome. Toys, board games and more. There was also some seating scattered throughout the store. I didnt need help as it was easy to find everything so I didn't notice too many workers on the floor but I want to say they were there if you needed help. Check out was easy and the cashier was very friendly and engaging. They also have a rewards program as well if you opt into that. read more

I love Barnes & Noble and I'm very grateful to my friend who has told me about this location! This location is clean, well organized, and they still have their lounge chairs. The cafe seemed clean as well. Staff is very friendly and has information for you if you have any questions. Wow, not only did I have a terrible interaction with the woman who picked up the phone angrily when I asked a question if a product was in the store, but she hung up on me rudely. I also experienced rude customer service in the store. Does this location just hire the rudest people ever? I have a great need for B&N as I will be diving into a lot of books. It's a great location and it's very clean. The staff is very kind as the TV should be and professional. Always in the mood for customer interaction and that's great. I did get the membership so it will help me to save. I've been back there times within 2 weeks. Ordered a book and it was shipped to the store within days and I received a call to pick it up like they promised. Even though I could have gotten the book for half the price on A....... Lots of books that are well organized. Lines move quickly and employees within the bookstore portion are nice. Ordering online and picking up in store is convenient in theory, but had many hiccups along the way. Lines are marked with socially distant tape spots. Plenty of cool little gifts for kids and adults with different interests such as origami, knitting, and even collecting vinyls. The Starbucks here does not accept payments via the app if you preloaded anything. It will not accept stars and will not give you stars or participate in any of the specials such as double star day or BOGO day. Limited flavors and items available, but seating is open. read more

Stopped by here on a Saturday afternoon for a coffee and to get myself a new James Patterson book . The Starbucks was super fast and they made my latte perfectly! Always a plus . Very spacious , clean , great staff .. very helpful and nice . You could definitely spend a whole afternoon here just relaxing , perusing the latest novels and enjoying a hot coffee or tea . They have a great children's section on the second floor with toys and games as well . Something for everyone! Definitely recommend! 10/10 read more

This store is located not too far from the mall on old county road, and next to stop and shop. The building looks elegant in a way to match the area of garden city. Upon entering they have two escalators in each side. There are islands of books located in the middle and they have a shelf off to the left that have the bestsellers books. Their selection of books are pretty good and they sometimes have what you're looking for. They used to have a large selection of clearance books, where I like to dabble because you find great stuff in there. The second floor is mostly kids books and a toy area. There are a few other types of book selection of book categories on the other side of the children's books. They have a cafe off to the right with seating available. Usually when you purchase a book you get a coupon for the cookies the sell. Very delicious. I didn't give them a full 5 stars because there was a particular book I was looking for that they didn't have available. However they offered to order the book for me which I declined and found it on Amazon read more

One of my kids needed a book. The usual instinct is to go to Amazon and order it, but we needed it right away. We stopped into Barnes and Noble. I am genuinely surprised that they are still in business, considering that the were one of Amazons first direct competitors. Ambience: this is a large spacious store, occupying two floors in an open spacious layout. It is brightly lit with books clearly organized by sections: children, young adults, graphic novels, fiction, etc. they even have a toys section for last minute gifts. Food: As is the case with many Barnes and Noble stores, they have a cafe inside that serves Starbucks branded drinks, but they also offer their own selection of baked goods. I can't recommend the Reese's Peanut Butter cookies enough. I ordered one for now and one to take home for later! Service: the staff was very helpful in helping me track down some books for my kids based on very vague descriptions. TL/DR: Maybe it's cabin fever caused by COVID, but I found walking around B&N looking for a book much more enjoyable than staring at a screen searching through Amazons site. read more

Barnes & Nobles is known for selling books, so they obviously had a ton of books everywhere. But, we found items that we didn't know we would find in this grand bookstore. First of all, there was wrapping paper and gift bags. Then, we noticed that there were some glasses. And then, we found candles. Lastly, the most surprising thing we saw was hand soap! *Happy New Year's Post* This review is all about finding the Poetry section. Since the remodel I have been able to comfortably find some of my favorite sections. But today I found the Poetry section. It's all the way in the back on the first floor by the couches - to the left. It's perfect. I found the exact book I was looking for with no help and since this section was all the way in the back of the store I was able to get some good browsing in (reading some poems, etc) uninterrupted. I love Barnes and Nobles. Prior to coming here today I stopped at the red dot variety store and the local library and its still not the same. Barnes and Nobles gives you two floors of all you need to survive in life: books, bathrooms, and Starbucks. Today's experience was really great because my membership ended but I was able to pull up a coupon and still get 20% off my book purchases. Then they made an announcement that all Cheesecake factory cheesecake was on sale for $2. All I needed was a free Frap and New York Times bestseller of course that wasn't happening. B&N will mostly have all new and current reading material in sections that are east to navigate. If you want something dated or for doing research visit the local library. People are allowed to talk here. There are plenty of other supplemental reading products for sale including e-readers and audio book. Plenty of wonderful gift ideas. Paper books will never go out of style. Of course I'm going back!!! read more

This B&N is great. The selection is pretty good & its pretty big compared to the Northern blvd one. However, the one thing that continues to bother me is the Starbucks. The workers at Starbucks are super kind & the drinks are fine. The problem is I feel they need to be more aware of what their customers do. There are people who believe that this Starbucks, like many others, is their private study/family room. Selfish people like the ones in the picture who take extra chairs for their belongings and their limbs! Yes! You heard right their limbs! This isn't your private home! And God forbid you ask for the chair when there isn't any. The management at Starbucks or B&N whoever is in charge should be more aware & regulate this! Its not fair! read more

I enjoy perusing through B&N every once in a while. They have just about everything and they're keeping up with the electronic times too, that's why they're still here! The bathrooms are always smelly (in an ewww way) so one star down for that. The rest of the place seems clean and relatively in order (customers sometimes mess up the order). Upon entering, if my memory serves me correctly, the cash register queue is to the left, directly in front are some selections, and to the right are magazines and a nice cafe area similar to Starbucks, but not entirely so. (Starbucks rewards/gift cards/etc. do not work there, and they only offer a limited selection of Sbucks drinks). I feel like if you're going to eat and drink and read, you should buy the book/magazine first so if you do mess it up with greasy fingers or a little spillage, it's yours and you're not ruining it for someone else who enjoys a fresh off the racks sort of book. In the middle-ish there are stairs/escalators that lead you up to the second level. To the right of the "stairs" is a concierge desk for additional assistance. Usually it's always empty and I wind up waiting a while when I would like to learn more from someone knowledgeable about where things are or what similar items they have. To the left of the booth between the "stairs" they usually have on display some kindles and e-books and accessories. To the right of that booth is an area of shelves with the latest games, toys, and calendars. Behind all of that are movies and music and word or number games. On the far left of the movies and music they have stationery and other shenanigans. I don't recall if the history/non-fiction sections are near there too. Upstairs has a variety of Fiction. I prefer teen fiction to adult fiction. Usually more fun to read. In the vestibule they also have books... usually inspirational ones or books on sale, that they probably wouldn't be too heart broken over if you managed to steal one. The entire store is nestled in a large shopping center so if you start to get hungry or feel like you need a haircut or want to pamper yourself with a pedicure and read a book one could do so. **Harry Potter Party Review** I was so happy to celebrate the release of yet another Harry Potter book at this location. When I came here 9 years ago for the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows there was no pre-reserve queue and this time around I was able to call ahead an reserve my copy. (Of course I was crazy back then and showed up at 9 am to be at the register at midnight) This time around, everyone who reserved a copy was guaranteed a book at midnight and the rest of the people who showed up needed to stand in line after us and were not promised that they would leave at the end of the evening with a copy of the book. I got there around 10 pm and there were so many activities going on! They had people playing wizards chess (people were the playing pieces and employees verbally told them to move around the board), there were scavenger hunt competitions, house sorting ceremonies, Triwizard Tournament mazes, Quidditch pong, trivia, crafts, and reminiscing about the most magical fandom around. They also had security help the customers line up through the rows of books in order to receive their books in a timely manner. When midnight struck we all sang Harry Potter a happy birthday song and then began our purchasing. I was out of the store by 12:15. Thank you guys so much for such a magical time. I always love going to Barnes & Noble to do homework, but this specific location was very busy. There was no table to sit at and I had to wait about 10 minutes to sit, which isn't their fault. I was told that they didn't have a specific drink at the starbucks when I asked for it and the other lady said they had it, I didn't end up getting it because the one ringing me up looked pissed. Super cool Barnes & Noble. I've been in quite a few of these bookstores and I've never seen one decked out like this. They have two escalators in this store and of course and elevator to be ADA compliant. I love the way they've categorized their inventory but one thing did step on my little baby toe. In their clearance book area, they placed Christian books in the same category of occult books. No ma'am Barnes & Noble, that's not cool. You need a SEPARATE section for dark arts bae. Not feeling that one right there, they are NOT the same boo boo. Besides that, it is a very nice store with 6 rocking chairs for their reading area and of course, they were announcing their storytelling time for the little ones. Starbucks lite was also in there set up like a nice little cafe. Great customer service as well. read more

Nothing beats a physical book, and this is a great place to browse and pick a winner or two. There's a big parking lot, a Shop & Stop, and restaurants in this "strip" mall. The last time I can recall walking into a B&N was 2008. In this age of e-readers (guilty) online shopping (so guilty) and tv addiction ( so so effing guilty), I have sadly lost touch with Books. Books have always been a quiet pleasure, to me, and upon walking into Barnes &Nobles I was struck suddenly with a sense of nostalgia. I paused, most likely looking quite odd, as I inhaled the scent of fresh paper, reliving childhood memories of the Babysitters Club and Sweet Valley High. Brought a tear to my eye if I am honest. I am grateful that this location exists. The couches beckoned to be sat in, book in hand for enjoying one of life's simple luxuries. I may no longer find my way through teen novels, but you may observe me in political drama and sci-fi.....sitting on the floor against the wall or perhaps just enjoying the feel of a crisp paperback marveling at the joys held within..... The place is your standard issue Barnes & Noble - you know what they have and what they sell. It just seems that this place is a magnet for freaks- I have no idea why, but there it is. This location is pretty filthy. From the bathrooms to the Starbucks dining area. Soap dispensers didn't were empty in the bathroom, and faucet was loose. Urine was all over the floor. Not so friendly staff i.e Staff was overheard speaking about another customer in a demeaning tone. read more

The coolest place to hang out in the area...um, it may be the only place to hang out in the area, for that matter! Lots o' seating in the cafe area which expands into the magazine section (which is large). With a helpful and friendly staff, this is a two story B&N. It's a good idea to get a membership here as you can save money on your Starbucks. :) Don't forget to check the net to see what coupons are floating about before you come, but be warned: this B&N staff has some coupon Nazis. Restroom is downstairs and in the left corner. Handicapped accessible and usually dirty. Open 9 am - 11 pm Monday through Saturday and til 9 pm on Sunday. read more

Ah, Barnes and Noble, one of the last (thee last?) of the old school "brick and mortar" book stores, well not just books. B&N has a good selection of cds, dvds (who buys these anymore?), toys and games. I certainly feel like my younger poorer self back in the 90s when I used to come to this shopping center and leisurely peruse the items offered, which was a form of entertainment back in the day (That I use to combine with Tower Records alas which is no more.). Now that I can afford to buy more items sadly I don't buy any actual books preferring their e-book counterpart instead. (What can I say? I'm a 21st Century Digital Boy!). Although we do buy lots of kids toys here, which seem to be more educational in nature. I think the world still needs places like this and so do all the people that like to sit around in them with their laptops and lattes. (What are these people doing? Using B&N like a library? Hanging out just enjoying the scent of real books? Trying to pick up a date? all the above?!). I don't know how much longer B&N is meant for this world, but I sure will enjoy it while it's around. I hope it stays, but who knows? It's the way of this modern world isn't it? read more

I love a good book store. It's a dying breed of brick and mortar that is so under appreciated these days, and it kills me. Barnes & Noble is a classic, and this one reminds me of why. It's clean, their employees are pleasant, and their cozy cafe makes me wants to stick my nose deep into a book while having a snack. Will be back for sure. Since my area lacks privately-owned bookstores, B&N is so important to me. And the staff is great because they're passionate about books too. Lindsay was very sweet when she helped me order some books. She was quick and efficient. I'm happy to know my new books can ship directly to my po box. That's super helpful. Pretty much every employee I interacted with was nice. The checkout line is always slow. But I'm not going to hold it Against them. Not worth it. At least today they had 4 registers open nice location. It's clean and that's important. Have books always been so expensive and j just blocked it out of my head. Not their fault here either but two books were over 30$. That's crazy! And I don't like the card. If you don't come in a lot the membership card is not worth it in my opinion. Not sure what happened to my previous review of this place but okay... This B&N location is pretty great. It's two floors with a coffee shop downstairs. They also have a huge Nook display so you can test one out before you buy it. While the location isn't huge, they have something for everyone due to the two floors. I recently came here for a book signing and the staff handled it well and kept everything extremely organized. Lined up, took names, another staff member took photos. It was very well put together. Also this location is in a pretty good spot since there is a Red Robin & Chipotle right there, as well as Ben's Kosher Deli and a bagel shop. read more

Stopped in last night To Barnes & Noble on the way home from the Black Sheep ale House. I had to get a gift certificate for a relative. The store is humungous, Properly the biggest book store i have ever seen. 2 floors of books and magazines. Can not imagine them not having what you are looking for. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They have a Starbucks in it as you walk in if that interests you. The store has a huge selection of magazines, and you can sit and read as many as you want with out being bothered or told to put them back if you are not buying. Would definitely come again to this Barnes & Noble if i am in the area. read more
