Requested visit notes multiple time, told they would be emailed, never sent. Also told to return for service and see "Tom"..went in person 7 different times when I was told he would be there and he wasn't..they lied and absolutely wasted my time. I have gotten my records and will go elsewhere. Also, my first appt was scheduled online, when I arrived, they said I did NOT have an appointment, I was there and in appointment for 3.5 hours.

Apparently the only doctor in the office this week broke something and can't work and the other two doctors can't be bothered to come in and cover his patients since they neglected to have anyone on call in case emergencies happened. But they will be glad to reschedule me for an appointment in a couple of weeks. I'm extremely frustrated that I have waited 2 months, took off from work, and rescheduled my life to get this appointment and this office is acting like they are doing me a favor by rescheduling to a day that I am at work and would have to take another day off. I understand emergencies happen but their lack of coverage for their patients is a huge problem. Then tried to tell my wife that my 8 year old daughter needed women's glasses because of her size well i saw them and they seemed like they were falling off. So i told her to take the kids somewhere else. Well what do you there was NO copay per my insurance and they covered $150 for the frames and covered the majority of the lenses. So she called Lee County Optical back and the manager advised we accept your insurance we just don't participate with it. The eye drops made me sick to my stomach and I felt nauseated for hours afterward. I told Dr. Mirate I couldn't wear progressive lenses or bifocals because they give me unrelenting headaches. I specifically asked for two separate prescriptions, one for reading glasses and one for distance. He ignored my request and wrote one prescription for progressive lenses. I'm a disabled veteran. When I tried to have the glasses prescription filled at the VA optical department, the VA refused to give me two pair of glasses because the prescription was written wrong. It took me months of going back and forth between the VA and the doctors office to finally get Eye Center South to separate the prescriptions. The VA requested that the doctor make a note on the prescriptions that two separate sets of glasses were required because the patient is unable to wear multifocal lenses. When I went to the office to pick up the new prescriptions, the requested notation was missing from the documents. I asked the front desk receptionist to please have the notation added. She refused and argued with me for 15 minutes, claiming that she knows everything there is to know about the VA and that she "talks" to them all the time. I've been dealing with the VA for 35 years. I know what they require and I've never had a problem getting glasses from the VA until this circumstance. Bottom line, the receptionist was lazy and confrontational. She didn't want to spend any time helping me get what I needed to satisfy the VA. I felt very disrespected and unsupported. The office staff don't care about supporting veterans nor do they want to expend any energy assisting veterans with special needs. I will never set foot in this office again and I would recommend that anyone needing eye care, especially veterans, avoid this provider.

My red framed glasses cracked at the base and nose bridge of the frames. My second cat eye brown frames purchased 3 years later, have done the same thing at the base only. Additionally, there is also damage at the nose bridge of the frames on both sides, but the right eye side is larger than the left. They have the appearance of it being a nose guard, but it is on the frames. When I picked these glasses up from the Hour Glass, the bifocals were way too high up and I couldn't see at all. When I complained about them, they attempted to act as if I was wrong and then tried to bill me for having them correct it. I refuse to purchase any other frames from the Hour Glass and would rather go to Walmart to have my frames done correctly. I'd had my cat eye frames less than 6 months before the damage appeared. I did not purchase a warranty on them so I've suffered with this damage for 3 years now. I am currently in the process of a new eye exam and getting new frames. I DO NOT recommend the Hour Glass for frames or services.

The provider was unable to give me a definitive diagnosis, only what they believed the issue might be, and prescribed medication. I was then instructed to return in 5-6 days for a follow-up, which required another $50 copay. Unfortunately, the follow-up visit was even more frustrating. I waited approximately 40 minutes before being taken to an exam room, only to be moved back into the waiting area because another room wasn't available. I then waited an additional 30 minutes before the provider returned. After paying another $50 copay, the only recommendation I received was to purchase an ointment sold by the office, and I was told the damage to my eye is permanent. Between my two visits, I had a very frustrating experience with the office over the phone. I brought my concerns to the attention of a staff member, and she assured me that she would look into the issue and call me back. Unfortunately, I never received that call. That left me feeling as though my concerns were simply brushed aside rather than taken seriously, and it gave me little confidence that the issue would ever be addressed or corrected. While the staff was courteous and professional during my visits, the office itself appears to be disorganized and possibly understaffed. Long wait times, poor communication, lack of follow-through, and the overall handling of my care made me feel like my time and money were not valued. I don't recommend this location based on my experience. The "dr" very quickly went over options for lenses and even though I had questions she rushed out and just suggested to get the transition lenses. They said they had package deals. I ended up paying $500 for glasses that I can only see out of the top half. The lower half is too fuzzy. I was going to go back and complain but I researched the frames they sold me and found them online for like $40, would have been $175 with the prescription lenses. Such a ripoff and clearly only interested in selling extremely overpriced glasses. Will never be stepping foot in here again, neither will my family.
