Ordered 4 catering platters for Christmas. Spent the same amount of money as last year but the quantity was much smaller and they are adding fillers to dishes to cut corners to some platters. As someone who worked in a resturant for over 15 years, this is really unacceptable and a way to lose customers, especially after spending hundreds for catered food and not having enough to feed your company. So I work locally and Tuscany caters often for event held at said work, for different occasions, if you are looking for a wonderful catering experience where there is SO MUCH food and deeelicious at that-- that Tuscany is your one stop shop place. The team that brings the food in has it down to a science, they are fast, neat and got it together, very coordinated. So here are the dishes I think are top notch- BOLOGNESE, RIGATONI, CAVATELLI & BROCCOLI, EGGPLANT ROLLATINI, STRING BEANS ALMONDINE, HOMEMADE MEATBALLS IN MARINARA SAUCE, CHICKEN BRUSCHETTA, CHICKEN PARMIGIANA, CHICKEN FRANCESE & CHICKEN SORRENTINA of course the salads, rolls/bread with butter and the dressing is always tasty and compliments the salads. The first go around the eggplant parm was good but this time it was watery. Not sure what they did but it was borderline inedible. The chicken parm was pretty good so I give them credit for that. The gold standard here is the honey mustard chicken which is always my go to. It is the best thing they have there. Very addicting! They have a lot of different stuff here so you have a ton of options. The chicken parm and honey mustard chicken are solid choices. Over the weekend I was and the older worker was joking about how he has to take out his teeth just to enjoy bread there. Then he laughed and smile and it just made me so uncomfortable. Im not sure why he felt the need to tell me that but even the lady behind me just walked out. The sandwiches are the best around and are fairly priced, not cheap, but a good value. The bread is legit Italian bread, not some spongy hero roll. There is plenty of meat and cheese along with the fresh veggies. Get the hero, not the roll, both are good but the hero is a much better value. I have lived in Jackson for 15 years and up until about 5 years ago when my daughter developed a slew of allergies, I stopped at Tuscany every few weeks for their prepared foods. The food was so good I could pass it off as my own! My children always were very happy when they knew I was bringing home Tuscany! I asked my daughter to stop by on her way home from work tonight. She got grilled chicken, grilled vegetables, 2 different pasta salads, 3 small rice balls, German potato salad , Fried raviolis and two meatballs. I called as soon as my daughter got home because I was curious as to why the grilled chicken was the same price as the grilled vegetables 8.99 a pound . I was also shocked when I looked at the pasta salad's that were also 8.99 a pound , cold fried raviolis were also 8.99 per pound and my total order came to about $45! When I asked the woman who answered the phone why the grilled vegetables were 899 the same price as the grilled chicken. She explained to me that it's because they use balsamic vinegar on their grilled vegetables. before hanging up the phone exasperated I told her that I could buy balsamic vinegar for four dollars! Okay now, all that being said, I would not have left this negative review had I tasted the food and it was good! The chicken was chewy and had no taste... It's obvious that this is a poor cut of meat! The grilled vegetables were just OK. The German potato salad tasted like it came out of the can. Both pasta salad's tasted like they were made with very low quality products. Tasteless and unappealing! I could go on and on and on but I think you get the picture. Btw I don't leave reviews that are bad about businesses because I know how detrimental they can be. But I called the establishment, gave them a chance to make things right and the woman on the phone told me that she had a long line in front of her and did not have time for me. After a year of planning my daughter's bridal shower and having difficulty locking down a caterer I thought why not go where I know the food is fantastic and loved by all in the area? I walked into Tuscany in Jackson and from the first minute Rita had my back on the entire party! People are still talking about the food (we had over 60 guests at the Herbary). Everything was delicious! Rita also hooked me up with a Staten Island bakery that created "the most beautiful cake" in my daughters words! It was delicious and beautiful! I picked it up from Tuscany. Everything else was delivered! The short ribs and risotto were a big hit as well as the farfale in a carbonara style cream sauce. Rave reviews! Rita also referred me to a waitress/bartender service and the 3 girls were amazing! I was able to enjoy my own party! We ordered 3 trays one each of Sachetti Tuscany, Chicken Zingara, Shrimp Francaise and 3, 1/2 trays of Penne Vodka, Roasted Potatoes and Veal Fiorentina. Tuscany said that we ordered too much. but I was so glad we did, so we could have leftovers. First let me say that we are from Brooklyn, New York and I thought that we ate a lot of different Pastas but after eating the Sachetti Tuscany boy was I wrong. This pasta was second to none, it was outrageous, I couldn't get enough of it nor my guest for that matters, there was no food left in any of the trays. Everybody took home food. Luckily, I brought 100 Disposal ware food containers from BJ'S. Every tray of food was outstanding and all of my family raved about the food. Today was my third trip to this store The first trip the bakery overcharged me $1.00 a pound for the 4 lbs of cookies I bought some of them were stale. That made me wonder if the weight was correct since they turn around to with the cookies with their back to you. They were new and just opened after building repairs so I gave them a pass on the grounds they were working the bugs out of their operation On the second trip I picked up some prepared things from the Deli. nothing special here food was average and price was on the high side. Since this was just my opinion and others might see it different again I gave them a pass. Today I bought sausage several different kinds all were $6.99 one was $7.99 a pound. He charged me $7.99 a pound for all of them. So now I know this guy is shady and must be watched closely and corrected constantly. tonight my wife is cooking a batch of this sausage and she comes to me and says it smells kind of sour. she thinks it might be old. I told her sometimes shady butchers when grinding meat for sausage or meatballs they mix the old spoiled meat in with good meat. First time in this quaint little italian market/deli. Was in the door 1 minute and the woman at the counter was rude and condescending. I had a purpose. I had called ahead to see if they had a specific item and they said they did. Ok so off I went. They sell meats, pre made foods and deli items. They make sandwiches also. I had a large party catered by Tuscany in Jackson, and they provided delicious food and great service. The Artichoke Francese is soo good. They make a version of chicken fingers with a honey sauce that is addicting. We also really enjoyed the Chicken Saltimbocca, shrimp scampi pasta, and steak pizzaiola. On top of the dishes that I ordered from their menu, I asked them to prepare some other foods, like seafood salad and baked clams. They were accommodating and offered sound advice on how much to order. Delivery was on time, and they provided everything I needed to serve my guests. The bottom line is that they made my life easy. I have shopped at Tuscany several times. Especially when I go to get fresh Italian cookies. I went in there today. I asked for 2 1 pound boxes of cookies and the girl behind the counter said there were already packages cookies. I said that i want to pick them out myself. She said that there were packaged for a reason. I advised that I prefer to pick out the cookies. She was very rude. I had to have another young man take care if picking out the cookies. I know it is a busy time of the year but still no reason to be rude. Once I try the cookies i will let everyone know how they are. But the service stinks and needs to get better. I've ordered from Tuscany deli quite a few times from door dash and I love their salads and dressing but the last few times I've ordered, I ordered a veggie burger which was clear on the receipt and I even addressed my VEGGIE BURGER in the request section and they keep sending me hamburgers. This is by far the best Italian specialty Deli around. We love their fresh made mozzarella. I will not buy it anywhere else. Great homemade soups and many other kinds of salads. The owner Ana is very unpleasant and I have never seen her smile. The food is overpriced and I have even been over charged at checkout because they made a mistake and rung up 59.99 instead of 5.99 and gave me an attitude when I went back in to show them the mistake. The food is hit or miss. I have had some delicious things but lately the quality has gone down hill. I just had one of the best hot subs in my entire life from this place! It's called the Jackson Jaguar and it has chicken cutlet, vodka sauce and mozzarella. Very unprofessional and have HORRIBLE customer service! My boyfriend ordered two salads through Door Dash and they forgot grilled chicken on one of the salads. He called back to let them know and they said they would give him a $3.00 credit. I ordered a Mona Lisa WRAP that was supposed to come with a side of macaroni salad and a pickle maybe a week or so later again through Door Dash and I got a Mona Lisa SUB instead! At this point I was really frustrated that this was the second time in a row they messed up my order. I called and spoke to a guy name Vinny and made a complaint and he assured me that the next time I ordered I would get a credit that is worth what the Mona Lisa wrap costs which is $7.95. Well I called today and spoke to a woman named Janet who is supposed to be the manager which I don't know how because she was so rude to me and my boyfriend on the phone and has 0 customer service skills. She told me that Vinny was not a manager and had no authorization to give someone a credit and that I should of asked for a manager when I called. First of all maybe you should train your employees better and let them know that in those situations to ask for a managers approval before promising a customer they can get a credit. Again this was not once my order was messed up but TWICE! She asked me if I ate the sandwich and I told her I ate only half because I wasn't going to drive to Tuscany for them to fix my order when it was THEIR fault! If anything they should of had someone deliver me the correct order or again given me a credit! She told me she wasn't going to give me a $7.95 credit for an order THEY messed up on! How stingy could you be? My boyfriend then called her back because he was the one who ordered the two salads that did not come with grilled chicken and he spoke to a woman who promised him a $3.00 credit but did not get her name and Janet automatically put him on hold and then hung up. He called back again and she did the same thing. The third time he called she picked up and all my boyfriend said was " My girlfriend just called and said you weren't giving her a credit for an order that you guys messed up on" and Janet started yelling over the phone being so unprofessional and told us that if we didn't like the service then we could go order somewhere else and that we were acting like animals! How are you supposed to be a manager?! We were promised a credit and even though the person did not have any authorization (which is not our problem), they still should have honored it and spoken to him about it for the next time a customer wanted a credit.I've never been treated so poorly especially by a MANAGER! I will NEVER ever ever order from Tuscany again and it's a shame because their food is delicious but their customer service is terrible and Janet really needs to reevaluate her customer service skills because she clearly does not have any. I went here to pick up a Doordash order and was immediately treated by the woman at the counter like it was my fault that they were busy and couldn't handle the rush. Then the man behind the deli who I asked for my order that I could clearly see sitting for quite some time before anyone paid attention to it barked at me that he was getting the dressing in such a tone of voice as if I was his kid who he was scolding. First experience with this place was over a year ago. Second time was 4 days ago. Shame on me. 1. No one puts slices of cheese in braciole. Grated cheese perhaps added to the breadcrumbs, but slices? NO. What happens with sliced cheese is that it seeps out into your gravy/sauce and changes the taste. Terrible. 2.Chicken cheese and parsley ring.... terrible and the worst I've ever had plus the cheese or whatever mystery ingredient that was in it was sour. Very sour. The liquid that came out of the sausage as I attempted to fry it sort of boiled the ring rather than fry it. I'm thinking this liquid was from the peppers. The plastic bag it was wrapped in had quite a bit of liquid in it. In the garbage it went. 3. I ordered a pound of fresh ground pork(and I use that word loosely). It was about 5 days past its prime. Terrible smell which only got worse when I tried to cook to add to my sauce. In the garbage it went. 4. Neck bones were just that, BONES. Not a lick of meat on any of them. They should have been thrown out and not put in showcase. Needless to say I will not be recommending this store to anyone. I'm amazed that anyone of true Italian heritage is shopping there at all. $62.00 down the drain. Live and learn. We had Tuscany of Jackson cater xmas. The sausage and peppers and the lasagna tasted rancid. My mom went to return it today and they refused to give her a refund. They went in the back and said they tasted it themselves and it was fine. If they truly tasted it they would know how horrible it tasted. I will never go to Tuscany again.
