I have been going to TLC for 15 years and see both Dr. Rita Ellithorpe and Dr. Cynthia Mitchell. Just not enough room here to give them enough raves for their high quality treatment. Dr. Ellithorpe is the most humble, hardworking, compassionate doctor I have ever met. Dr. Mitchell is so gentle and kind--my favorite GYN ever & I've seen many over the years. Don't mind waiting a few extra minutes, if necessary, as I know that when it's my turn with the doctor, my appointment won't be rushed. TLC doctors spend much longer with each patient than any other doctor I've been to, for the same fee as doctors who spend only a couple of minutes with each patient. TLC gets some difficult cases, so sometimes it's necessary for a doctor to spend a bit of extra time with those patients. One should have some compassion (and patience) for such individuals in need. Read a magazine. I like buying my supplements from TLC as I know they are of the highest quality and correct for me. They do a lot of research to ensure this. (Who knows the quality of Internet and off the shelf products?) One supplement I started taking 15 years ago finally came to the attention of the general population and other doctors about five years ago. TLC is all about the science. They are ahead of other medical practitioners as they do a tremendous amount of research and study. It's not surprising to read one person's comment that another doctor did not see the importance of a particular supplement. Just check back with them in five or ten years. TLC is a very busy medical group so you'll need to wait to get an appointment. Best to make your 'next' appointment while there. The TLC staff is very caring and they work hard to accommodate. Chatting with other patients, I've only heard very positive comments. It's interesting to hear how TLC has improved other's health too. I have brought my teenage daughter here twice concerning some heath issues she was having. Our first time there was a full hour one on one going over everything happening and her history. The PA was thorough and made several recommendations along with a blood panel. I was referred to Dr. Faraj by someone who had gone from doctor to doctor trying to find out the cause of her mysterious, debilitating symptoms. I did several hours of research before I selected TLC as my primary care and gynecological provider. I wanted to try integrative medicine and this seemed like a great option. I saw both Dr. Mitchell and Dr. Meric for over a year. Initially, I was very happy with the care provided. I received full 30 minute appointments and what I thought was individualized care. My satisfaction disintegrated rapidly. Dr. Meric faced her computer the majority of the time for each appointment. Despite having my chart in front of her, she always seemed to forget who I was and what my health needs/ concerns were. She also continued to recommend that I buy the very expensive supplements that they sell on site. Each time I went, I needed to add a new supplement because "new research came out" proving that this new type of supplement was much better. Interestingly, I am a scientist and a health provider myself, so I checked on PubMed and other health science databases and found nothing to verify her claims. I was also encouraged to radically change my diet to eating one protein, two vegetables, and one type of nut for all meals each day as I was considered "pre-diabetic." This has since been debunked by my new doctor. My husband shared this diet issue with a colleague and she began laughing as both she and several of her (very fit) friends formerly went to TLC and were told they were pre-diabetic and needed to take the expensive supplements and change their diets too. When I went back to Dr. Mitchell for a follow-up test after my annual, she sat me down in her office to discuss sensitive medical issues and promptly began snacking on a package of almonds. I couldn't believe that she was telling me medical results with a mouthful of food. Seriously, what the hell? The final straw occurred when the office abysmally handled my change in insurance. I bought a very good, and subsequently very expensive, Blue Cross PPO plan only after I called TLC and confirmed that they would be able to take it. I gave them my new insurance immediately to assure continuity of care. After I found out I was pregnant, I had a ton of lab work done at Dr. Meric's recommendation and was given a quote up front for the total costs. Imagine my surprise when I started receiving bills for thousands of dollars above the quoted amount. Thank goodness I save all of my medical paperwork including that form with the quoted prices. After calling their office and their billing services several times with no results, I finally walked into their office and talked with the office manager, Ryan. Despite my having given my new insurance information to both the front office staff and their billing services representative, they were continuing to bill my old insurance. Ryan also surprised me by sharing TLC could no longer take my insurance as it fell under Covered California and they were dropped from their panel. I asked him to check again as I didn't think my new plan was Covered CA. He assured he would handle everything and that I wouldn't be responsible for the overage in the bills. I had my last appointment with Dr. Meric that day. I started crying out of frustration in her office. She apologized for the insurance mistakes, claimed that insurance issues were "not her area" and then, despite being told this was our last appointment, began telling me that I should still continue buying their supplements and that I should add some new ones to my already ridiculous vitamin regimen. I was crying in her office and she was still hocking supplements at me. So, I asked my new OBGYN about these supplements.. She informed me that most of it was garbage and to stop. In fact, one of the supplements was high in vitamin A which can potentially cause prenatal harm to my growing baby. WTF. My OBGYN told me not to worry too much, but that she was surprised and concerned that a doctor would knowingly recommend a pregnant woman take something so high in Vitamin A. In the past month, I received several more bills from the lab companies they use because TLC never called them to rectify the billing situation. I ended up calling them myself and giving them my new insurance info. Suddenly, I was only asked to pay the manageable co-pay. So, 2 months after Ryan assured me that the office would take care of the billing and waive any fees I was assured (in writing) would be covered, I received another f***ing bill for $500 because the services from JUNE and JULY were not covered by my insurance. I called both the TLC office and the biller this week and did not hear back for 2 days. I called this morning and informed the front desk that the next correspondence would be from my attorney. I got a call back 5 minutes later. Apparently, their incompetent office continued to bill my old insurance. Again. Oh, and the kicker, I confirmed that my insurance is NOT covered California and that they can take my plan. Fat chance, I am never going back there again. read more

I need to revise my previous rating and downgrade them further.....after everything I explained in my first review, I finally had an appt. booked 2 months out. At the 4 week point I needed to book a flight on the day of my appt and called to move it.....I was told another 2 month wait of course. I explained that I had been waiting for months and needed to see her before I left the country and Stacy said she would look further into the schedule and call me right back, same day. Did I hear back that day? Of course not..... Did I hear back the next day or any other day since? Absolutely not. And I trust I never will. The level of incompetence and poor service there is beyond description. I will now be looking for a new doctor elsewhere and advise others to do as well. read more

Tustin Longevity Center is an example of how healthcare should be. These Doctors go out of there way to diagnose and then treat naturally (if possible) and only use prescriptions if absolutely necessary. This review is not so much of Dr. Mitchell who was my doctor, but of the Tustin Longevity Center itself. I had been going to Dr. Mitchell for a few years so I thought of myself as an established patient. I usually go for annual exams since this is the extent of my needs. However, this July a medical condition came up where I needed to see a doctor immediately. I called the office, explained my situation (which included serious concerns) and tried to schedule an appointment. I was offered an appointment in October (!!). Really? Is this how you care for urgent concerns? I was very surprised and tried to explain that I needed to see a doctor with an urgent need. No. The first appointment was in October. I was not offered to talk to the nurse or the doctor. I was not offered to see anyone else. I was just informed that the first available was in October. I informed the receptionist that October was not acceptable and that I will be looking for another physician. Of note, usually information about urgent needs is passed on to the doctor and the doctor calls back to see if the patient is ok (alive maybe?). Not with this practice. They could not care less. Obviously, I found another doctor at another practice who saw me within that week. However, after that, between August and March, I received upwards of 5 text messages and automatic phone call reminders from the Tustin Longevity Center telling me that I was overdue for an annual check up and to call and schedule. Seriously? We as patients try to establish a relationship with a physician to have a practice to go to in cases of urgent need, so that we don't have to go to the emergency room. If you are this overcommitted that you cannot see your established patients, then what is the point? I am now with another very caring practice that always is there for me. Do you want to be with a practice where there is no way to see a doctor when you need that? The time is best spent in trying to establish a relationship with a clinic that will be there for you when you need them. read more

I had my first appointment with Dr. Walid Faraj yesterday. He was definitely a breath of fresh air after all the countless specialists I have seen about my condition. He certainly cares about his patients and he did his best to keep the cost down. Even the specialized blood test he recommends I understand the reasoning. He also gave me his perspective and interpretation of previous blood work I had done by my other doctors. I found that to be helpful. For the most part we agreed on a lot. I think the only thing we had differences on was diet. But I'm okay with that. I'm a pretty health conscious person. I do a lot of research on nutrition, health, and things of that nature. I also work in the fitness industry so I stay pretty active. But I'm glad we didn't agree on everything since that certainly allows me to expand my knowledge on something that might be beneficial. He did explain the reasoning for the diet plan he recommended and how it could help me. I will definitely be back. So to sum up how I feel my appointment went. Not only did I leave feeling reassured that I'm on the right path to healing I also left with new approaches to try and do some research on. I am very grateful I found this place. read more

When I was 18 years old I was in and out of my PCPs office. I would not be able to keep any food down. Soon after eating I would be running to the bathroom. I was told to take antibiotics after antibiotics by my PCP. My PCP finally referred me to an oncologist. Being referred to an oncologist just frightened me and my parents.
