This is my first review for Tutor Doctor because we have just started. I will write more as our sessions go on, but I found it important to share with other parents who may be in the same situation we were....desperately looking for help for our child. We visited the other learning centers and quite honestly, they felt like I was going in to buy a gym membership. It was more about the pushy sales, bottom line and I felt like my child was more about there business plan to make dollars for the year. I didnt feel any compassion or true love for helping my child get through her challenges. After much research, I accidently ran across Tudor Doctor and called. The owner Parker was very helpful, extremely caring about the needs of my child and genuinely felt like she wanted to help and cared for my childs well being. We set up an in home appt and I felt the same when I wrote the check to start the sessions. This company is different. We used Tutor Doctor this past summer to build up some math skills for my son. We were very pleased with the service. The owner, Parker, met with us in our home to talk about my son's needs and to ask exactly what we were looking for in a tutor. By the end of the meeting she already had a tutor in mind. The tutor called me within a day or two to introduce herself and confirm our first session. She worked with my son throughout the summer and really boosted his skills. She was very sweet and kind and patient with him. She had many innovative ideas and activities to help him learn and kept it fun. If she was stuck in traffic or had any kind of problem at all I immediately got a text from her. She was very flexible and worked around our vacation and had no problem when we had to reschedule one day. Each week you receive a report stating exactly what the tutor worked on. It has the date, time of tutoring, and details of the session. With Tutor Doctor you buy tutoring hours for your family, not just a specific person. They can be used on any child in the household, which I think is a great idea. They also come to you, which is a huge time saver. If your child is struggling, give them a call. If anyone is looking for help for their child, please run the other way. This is a borderline scam operation. First of all, you run into a non-refundable contract before a tutor is even presented to you. You pay for tutoring even before a tutor is found. It was promised that a tutor would be available within a few days but actually took weeks. So you are basically paying for nothing. Please also be aware that the tutor that we worked with was very nice, it was not a good match for my son. ADHD requires a certain teaching style and even though they offered this type of service, our tutor had no experience with special needs and did not even a college degree. Hiring their tutor is like going on Craig's list and getting a $20/hr student looking for extra money, but you are paying at least double than that. Due yourself a favor by looking on sites like Wyzant where you can research and interview the tutor directly and have control on when and how they are paid. read more

We have been with Tutor Doctor for a year. It began with a one-on-one meeting in my home with Parker Knapp. She listened very carefully and asked the right questions to attend to the specific needs of our daughter. The prices were very comparable if I were to hire a private tutor myself. What interested me most was the tutor coming to my home rather than driving to a location, and yet receiving the same professional/education intervention as if we went to a professional facility. When the tutor sessions began, the tutor was always on time, and yet flexible when we had to reschedule, etc. The email follow-ups documenting times and what was covered was impressive and very professional... yet personal.
