This assessment finds every strength and weakness of your child. When we started going over it together, there were ones that were definitely questionably written. But they do this on purpose to try to get you to sign up (which I get). My son attended Sylvan for 4 months, and we had multiple incidents with the tutors (former teachers). They were unprofessional. When there was a problem addressed, we brought it up to the owner who assured us he would address it with his teacher, and there was a clear disconnection in communication with the two. The next week we found out she was gone, and there was another teacher. She didn't seem too much better. At drop off I came to pick up my son, and used the bathroom and I noticed the trash overflowing... When my son did not progress in reading, they recommended we come for longer, and more days a week. We already were coming 1 hour 3 times a week. He was clearly exhausted. We brought some of his homework in, and the teacher erased all the answers that he had done and made him start from the beginning (this is after we had worked with him on his homework for 2 hours prior). Bottom line, don't waste your money here.

I had a wonderful experience with this organization and I'm glad that it was recommended to me by a friend. Prices are affordable and tutors are willing to e-mail you about the subject even when they're not with you. I'd absolutely recommend these guys again and again.

Yelp even removed one of your raving reviews because it violated their Content Guidelines under conflicts of interest (i.e. it was fabricated by an employee or family member). I would be happy to forward you the email addressing it if you're inclined to respond with, "we are unsure where you read that". Frankly, your responses are embarrassing and childish. Speaking from the Mentorship/Research Project side, my mentor did not assist me at all with my project. My project was initially a website/program which revolved around the idea of mental health in adolescence. However, that program did not receive much success because my mentor did not help me on the publicity side. As a result, I ended up writing a research paper (on my own!) and got that published. To be clear, this research paper was solely created by me and had no assistance from the college shortcuts side. Now, I knew College Shortcuts would be a waste of time on the college preparation side, but my family and I chose to go through with the Application FastTrack Program (after my awful experience from the mentorship program) because of the ratings and how Neha portrayed that the program would look. When picking your colleges, they do not help you find schools which align with your profile. Specifically, if you are doing any extracurricular activities (or anything outside academics), they do not use those interests as your strengths in finding schools which best match you, or even schools which you have a great shot of getting into. Also, they made me write my essays before the official essay prompts came out. Now, this might have seemed like a good thing because of the practice. However, when the new essay prompts come out, they only go through the essay one time. So, you are left to check and edit the essays on your own. If you want to get another check, they charge per essay. If you feel that you are a good essay writer, you don't need this program because they don't really offer you anything. If you are not a strong essay writer, you can practice on your own or use free resources to help improve your writing. The only thing that they might be able to help you with is the steps to apply to college, but you can easily find those steps on Google for free. My family and I did talk to Neha about our complaints, but she would reword the phrases in a way which made the blame ultimately fall back on us. They took no responsibility for their lack of proper assistance in the college application process. I had to figure out how to apply on my own because College Shortcuts was not providing me with the information I needed to create a strong and successful application. Everything you need to apply to college is now on the internet. You really do not need to waste thousands of dollars on programs which will not benefit you in any way.

This school has made an incredible difference in our daughter's life. She was diagnosed with…read moredyslexia in first grade, and after several years of trying to navigate the public school system, we made the decision to transfer her to The Briarwood School in fourth grade. At that time, she was reading at a first-grade level. After just two years in their program, she is now reading at a fourth-grade level, only one year behind her grade. The growth we've seen has been truly remarkable. We feel confident that the school is not only supporting her academically, but also teaching her in a way that works best for how she learns with dyslexia. Beyond academics, her confidence has grown tremendously. She now enjoys reading chapter books, something we once struggled to imagine. We are so proud of her hard work, as well as the dedication and support from the school. If your child has a learning disability and needs additional academic support, I would highly recommend this school. You won't regret your decision.

Parents, read this before you consider Brain Balance…read more My experience with Brain Balance specifically with Frank Amuto,was stressful, dehumanizing, and completely unacceptable. I chose to cancel after realizing the program is not covered by insurance and is not recognized as evidence-based care by insurers or standard clinical pathways. That was not made clear upfront, and it should have been before any financial commitment. What followed was worse. After cancelling, I was given information about my financing and the bank that did not match what the bank later confirmed directly. There was constant back and forth, conflicting information, and I was being pressured about money I did not owe. At one point, I was told that if I did not pay additional money, I would not receive my financing back. Let that sink in. Frank Amato's behavior escalated the situation. His communication was rude, dismissive, and condescending. He crossed a personal line by questioning my judgment as a parent, including making comments about why I chose to have a child with my child's father. That is completely inappropriate and unacceptable. Nothing was resolved until I escalated and brought the bank directly into the conversation to force transparency. Only then did the information finally align, the refund get processed, and the loan get closed. This entire experience created real fear around my finances and my credit -- something no parent should have to deal with, especially while caring for a child with ADHD. For clarity, my child is now doing well and receiving therapy that is evidence-based and covered by insurance. Be extremely careful. Verify everything directly with your lender. Get everything in writing. Do not rely on verbal assurances.

From the very first phone call to schedule a tour, I had concerns. Despite traveling from the East Coast specifically to visit this school, we were not greeted warmly upon arrival. The security guard was stoic and silent, which set a cold tone. Bailey, who had been warm with another family just moments before, barely acknowledged us. I had to ask if she was Bailey because she was simply standing there, staring. When she finally acknowledged my child, she referred to him as "frienddddddddddd," which felt patronizing and unprofessional. Children, like adults, deserve to be addressed by name--respect starts there. During the tour of the four- and five-year-old classrooms, I noticed a stark contrast between what was shown on the website and what we experienced in person. When I mentioned that we unschool and take a more global, play-based approach to learning, Bailey assured me the school was play-based as well. However, the children looked more like they were in a traditional, rigid environment--seated in silence, not engaged in any type of play. In one of the classrooms, a little girl was visibly distressed and crying in a cube. No adult approached her. She remained that way throughout our entire visit--clearly struggling, and clearly ignored. This was heartbreaking. A child in distress should never be left alone, especially in a setting that claims to prioritize emotional development and care. I genuinely feel for that child and her family--because if that were my kid, I'd be pissed the hell off. That should never have happened under any competent care or planning. Throughout the tour, Bailey made inappropriate comments and assumptions about my child, labeling him without taking the time to observe or interact meaningfully with him. She stated the school wants kids to be fully conversational and etc. I attempted to explain his receptive language is fine but we are working on expressive. She cut me off but isnt this what the school is about?!?? She repeatedly stated things would be "hard" for him and suggested we consider a different school--again, without any real engagement or insight into his capabilities. My child has unique birth-related challenges, but no formal diagnosis, and that is not Bailey's role to assess or determine. She is not an evaluator or clinician; she's in admissions, and she should have remained in that role. The labeling continued, even after I explained that my child has never been in a traditional school setting. Her comments were dismissive and rooted in bias. I also noticed she treated other families quite differently--more warmly and respectfully. It was hard to ignore that we were the only Black family present, and the lack of diversity in the school was glaring. It felt like we were being treated differently based on race and perceived class. At one point, she even ran over to my child's advocate--without my consent--to state that this school "wasn't a good fit." That decision should not have been made, let alone communicated, without me present. I am the parent, I am the one paying tuition if we were to enroll, and no one should be having side conversations about my child without me. In the same breath, I have to address Bailey's repeated, unnecessary comments about referring families to Westwood and feeling she should "get a cut" from it. That was unprofessional, irrelevant, and made me uncomfortable. It had nothing to do with my child or his well-being. She continued making assumptions, bringing up things like "eloping" (which has never been an issue for my child), and referencing challenges unrelated to our experience. Her tone was judgmental and dismissive. She even brought up her own child's struggles, which seemed like an attempt to connect but came off as self-centered and irrelevant. Also, let me be clear: none of my child's doctors have diagnosed him with anything. What he lives with are birth injuries--documented and longstanding. For Bailey to make assumptions or push labels as a paper-pusher without medical expertise is not only dismissive but absolutely out of line. One of the most inappropriate moments was when she brought up finances--implying that the school/area might be out of reach for us. That was completely uncalled for. If I flew across the country, arranged lodging, transportation, and made time for a school visit, then clearly I can afford the school. It was offensive, intrusive, and deeply disrespectful. My financial situation is none of her concern. Frankly, y'all owe me money for this BS & unprofessional tour. Another alarming concern: the persistent racial homogeneity. There were no Black or Latino children enrolled that I could see. If the school is so "inclusive," where are the students of color? It feels like there are culture/race issues here.....stay away

His social skill exceed my expectation for him. He his now getting occupational therapy for fine motor skill and he loves it! We love all his teachers. Thaden is successful in middle school. He finally made an A in writing which is one of the hardest subject for autistic kids. He is taking advance math like trigonometry . He has lots of friends and even took a girl to a formal dance. I think the foundation at Parish gave him the confidents and skill to cope with life and thrive.
