The initial assessment was professional and personable, and the tutor that was assigned to my son is a great fit. The tutor has exceeded all my expectations (which is no easy feat). She is reliable, really likes my son (even when he's grouchy), and is passionate about helping him become a better student. Not only does the tutor help him complete assignments, but even more important, she is helping him learn how to be a resourceful and independent learner. My son is learning how to find information when he does not understand something, what questions to ask, and is developing tools to keep him focused and organized. We have used Tutor Doctor since Sept/2010 for both our 17 yr old daughter and our 12 yr old son. My daughter was tutored to prep for the SAT. My son has been tutored for 6th grade math. As you can imagine both needed different skills and levels of tutoring. Without question both did better because of the high quality of the tutor's that Tutor Doctor has access to, but also because they take the time to understand the needs of each student. My daughter has been great in math all through High School and then suddenly KA-BLAM. We needed assistance quickly. Mark & Carl jumped right on the assessment and we had a great tutor within a week. My daughter was not "up" for a tutor, but during the assessment, Mark uncovered some motivation issues as well as some homework issues. She was also picky about the tutor. They found us a tutor who has been a great fit (even though my son says he doesn't like when he comes over!). He's calm, can deal with the grumpy moods on occasion and has a great sense of humor (very important).
