I was five minutes late for the appointment, and the owner met me at the door with a smile but said she had another appointment and couldn't meet with me because I was late. She let me in the back door and immediately out the front. She didn't ask to reschedule and I didn't offer. I was personally offended and convinced her reaction was more due to the fact I had asked through an email if she would accept child care subsidies from the DHS. I have experienced negative behavior before because of my ethnically diverse name and my financial situation. I am now in a position to pay full tuition for programs, but I will not consider Creative Roots in the future.

My daughter still talks about what an awful experience it was there and how unresponsive the staff were (even though it's a low student-teacher ratio) and how uncreative the activities were--rather than involving the kids, the adults simply talked at them. In addition, even though Monique offered to refund the tuition, she has yet to do so, even after multiple requests. In short: It's really disheartening to send your child to a camp, have to call the director because of harmful and negative events that occurred while your child is in their care, and even more puzzling and frustrating to have her agree to refund the summer camp tuition (which is a bit pricey) and to now see these reviews and know that there is a wider pattern of unethical behavior with not refunding money.

I have been thrilled with the assistance and teaching my son received from Scott - precise, persistent, insightful. My son enjoyed and loved learning from Scott. A little bit of humor and cheerful attitude helped too. My son achieved ACT score he hoped for and eventually enrolled in a college of his choice. My niece worked with Matt to improve her LSAT score - she achieved significantly higher score in a short time!!! She acknowledges that Matt's help was decisive in her better LSAT score. I am so very happy to have worked with Scott and his wonderful colleagues at North Avenue and I truly admire their expertise and the place they have created - it gives confidence and trust! Thank you North Avenue Eduction!!!

Scott has built a really well organized and structured tutoring business. For me, this is a big plus as it has made their teachers and content more credible in a world of unreliable tutors who typically post their vague tutoring services on Craigslist (I know you've all been there). It's been really nice to call North Avenue Education 6 months after my exam and ask for some quick advice. The tutors never forget you and are always willing to lend a helping hand. A few pieces of constructive feedback: - Have a little bit of cushion in between sessions, so that you have time to review notes before a session or in the event your previous session runs over - Have both a structured and more free-flowing option when tutoring in english and writing. While these sessions were useful for me, I found them challenging at times, because I felt my instructor was trying to apply a tutoring methodology that didn't work for me. Be flexible! - Have open study space and/or office hours (which they do now, so yay! I am very excited about this.) All in all, I give North Avenue a 5 despite the feedback above, because I am really impressed with how much they care and want to improve their services. At the end of the day, that is the most important thing to me in a tutoring service! Thank you North Avenue!

(Going into 6th grade) had his reading comprehension skill assessed at the low 12th grade level (I know, very high!), his math was at the low 5th grade level. And my 8 y.o. (going into 4th grade) was reading at the low 3rd grade level and his spelling needed help too (but his math was a lot better). So I signed them up for 16 hours of tutoring each. They have had one session so far with Dr. Steve, who is an amazing tutor (he has a PhD and teaches at local colleges). That one session is already bringing results! The facility is clean and well supplied for educational experiences. The staff is very friendly and helpful. And how wonderful it is to have a great tutoring center at such convenient location! I dropped my two boys off on Saturday afternoon and went to have a facial at a Spa a couple of blocks away. Next time after I drop them off, I will go across the street for a barr3 class! If I had children, I would take them elsewhere.
