I started shopping at Tutti Frutti way back in the 90's. It has always been the best stocked, with the best prices of any health food store in Toronto I was there on Friday at their new collection and was so when I saw the Dr.Bronners refill soap package. It is $9 cheaper than the plastic bottle. Dr. Brothers is the best! I have been using it for years. I mix it eith an herbal infusion and essential oils and make the perfect soap for my sensitive skin. Whenever I have bought another brand of liquid soap I am soon reminded that Dr. Bronzer's is the superior brand. read more

This is my go-to Toronto health food store, especially since during COVID the health food store down the street always has a line. They carry pantry items (pasta grains etc), beauty products, vitamins and supplements, and refrigerated items (dairy, kimchi, etc.) One other bonus is that they have easily accessible clearance buckets on the floor. I feel so bad for not reviewing this place sooner! I shop here frequently so it's kind of ridiculous that I"ve only gotten around to reviewing it now. It's a great little health food store and is bustling despite being located a mere hop, skip and a jump from the larger Essence of LIfe. I still often choose Tutti Frutti over Essence of Life, though, despite it being smaller and lacking the same selection of fresh foods. It feels like my little personal store. They have a good selection of bulk items which are competitively priced, they somehow manage to squeeze in chilled and frozen foods and they have a myriad of vitamins, herbal supplements etc. Their prices for protein powder etc are great-no need to pay over the odds if vegan protein powder is your poison of choice. They're generally cheaper than most other places for my treats like nut butters, coconut butter, goji berries, cacao nibs etc. They were a few dollars cheaper than Noah's for some of those items the last time I checked and they're often slightly cheaper than Essence of LIfe. They're also great for hard to find things like Cocovie coconut jam-my new sugar fix. The space around the cash registers is cramped but they're actually really quick at serving everybody so you don't have much time to linger and discover that they're cheaper than pretty much anybody else if you want to buy Clif bars, Lara bars etc. I think it's generally the owners on the cash and they're very pleasant! There is no denying that it is a small space and you might find yourself in some intimate encounters doing the "switcheroo" if it is busy (not an experience I commonly encounter when visiting); I will also agree that it is jam packed, floor to ceiling, with product. It might not be the most luxurious shopping experience, but I enjoy having to hunt for an item amongst other fun health things. Although, that isn't really a problem after you know where to locate your desired item. They have a decent selection of supplements, and health food items. They also have a scoop your own spices, nuts, dried fruits etc section in the back. I would recommend checking it out if you haven't already; It is worth stopping in to do some price comparing. I've been going to Essence of Life for months, not even realizing that its closest competition was merely 5 steps away! Wellsir, I set foot into Tutti Frutti for the first time today, and I DO DECLARE, it will become part of my weekly Kensington rotation FO REAL. While slightly unorganized, there is much to love about this place. Prices of some bulk items run cheaper than Essence, so it will be customary for me to now buy, say, nooch at Essence and raw cashews at Tutti. I didn't check hygiene products or supplements yet, so we'll see how that stacks up! Speaking of supplements, these bishes have a vunderbar selection. They're just kind of... all over the place. I love their little nut snack packs at the cash register, and some green krispie squares (with spirulina) that I'll definitely have to sample one day. OH! I just remembered that their frozen berries are 3.79 per bag - cheaper than anywhere else I've seen so far (except for the time Whole Foods had them on special 2 for $5). Essence sells them for 4.99. What a great place to buy bulk items. They have a great selection of veggie friendly stuff, too. It's not a complete grocery store and a lot of the stuff are pricey, but the steal is in the bulk. They sell a lot of local products, as well as top of the line veggie accompaniments. read more

This has been my favorite Organic/Health Food Store in Toronto for Years. Really, nothing else compares. Essence of Life is ok, but Tutti Frutti is much better. They basically have anything you could ever want in bulk, and a decent selection of options for things like nuts, salts, sugars etc. The prices on various supplements like Floradix or Hemp Seed Oils, Aloe Vera Juice, Chlorophyll etc, I find to be several dollars cheaper than other stores around town. I have actually left Noah's because I had the Tutti Frutti price in mind and could not believe the markup. I live across town now, but I still stop in monthly or so to get some bulk items. I come here regularly to buy my vitamins and other "health food" stuff. the bulk bins are well priced and include much higher quality ingredients than at the mass market bulk bin stores. They also have a good selection of specialized food items such as gluten free, herbal, vegetarian, sugar free, etc. If I am in the Kensington Market, this is a sure stop for me. Tutti Frutti is a little better priced on some items than Essence of Life, but in truth I shop at both places because of the selection in both. read more

Always my go to store, It's smaller than some of the others but the husband & wife that run the store know a lot about health products. They have everything and anything you need organic wise and if not I'm sure they will place an order for you. It's so convenient and I enjoy coming here whenever I need anything. Tutti fruitti is ok, but I have trouble being in here for long enough to find what I need because it's just wee and I am forever feeling like people are running into me. Perhaps I should visit on a day when I'm not feeling so misanthropic. They have a good selection of lots of things: bulk products, gluten-free baking stuff, soaps/laundry things/shampoos, and about a gazillion bulk tea things. They seem to have all kinds of supplements, but those aren't my bag, baby, so I can't say any more about those. I recently purchased a bag of Dark Horse coffee here for almost $10 less than I've found it elsewhere. I don't love it, but I do return when I'm in the market and looking for bulk stuff. read more

Another great grocery store in Kensinton. I usually pop into Essence of Life and Tutti Frutti to check prices when I'm shopping in this area. So far I have found that they have the best price in the city beeswax candles. Their tea lights are 99 cents each! They have a great bulk section (better than EOL), and a pretty impressive beauty section as well. read more

Wow! I can't believe I just discovered this place today! The prices here are great. If it stays this way I will definately be a regular at this place. They are very well stocked in terms of health supplements and shampoos & soaps.The store is small but they seem to cram as much variety of everything they can into the place. Although this is a very small establishment, I found myself a little overwhelmed with so many things to look at (in a good way). This seems to be a favourite for the locals around here. The store was pretty busy when I visited in the early afternoon. I don't live in the area but can't wait to come back again! One thing to note is that although they take debit/credit cards, there is a minimum purchase of $10 required, otherwise cash. read more

4 stars for this place because it has the cheapest Weleda products, hands down. Weleda Skin Food here is around $12, and in other places I've seen it go up to $19 (Whole Foods). They have the entire range of Weleda, and all the prices are well below the $20 mark, unlike other places (Whole Foods in Yorkville, Essence of Life around the corner, and even Herbs & Nutrition by Bloor/Bathurst). I don't buy the bulk items but they have a nice range too. I'd say the selection for other things are limited, but then again, I was only looking at Weleda products because that's what I buy. I love this place. I come for food, not supplements, though they have both. The selection and the prices are great. Great buys include BPA-free, organic beans and canned tuna, teas, nuts and dried fruit. They also have a great selection of sauces and oils. There is another, larger "health food" store down the street. I prefer Tutti Frutti as I find it easier to navigate and not as full of crap I'm not interested in. They've narrowed it down to the good stuff, I think. It looses points only for being crowded and because, one time, the flour I bought from here sprouted weevils. Look them up... gross. For most items, this is the best priced health food store in downtown Toronto. Spirulina, protein powders, bulk nuts,... all these are best prices I've seen. Other things are the same as other places, I have never seen something more expensive. Not as big as Essence of Life, but definitely worth checking in first. I've been shopping here as long as I can remember. If they were open in 1993, when I came to town, I was shopping there. Three weeks ago I bought a Kombucha drink. I work in the market but by the time I got back to my work, a 2 min walk away, the bottle was leaking all over the place. So I brought it back for exchange. They were really rude about it, telling me that Kombucha "does that" and when I said there was no way to tell that the cap was on correctly and that I could get sick from it they said "you just don't know the product." Well I DO know that this isn't some commercial soda. If the cap wasn't on correctly I could seriously get sick off this fermented product. Anyway, I had to really act unfriendly which is not what I like to do, just in order to EXCHANGE the product. When I got the new bottle back to work I shook it over the sink. Guess what, no leakage. I will never shop there again. I was nice to them, it was a simple request, I had to mop all the floors at work because of the leakage, I have probably spent THOUSANDS of dollars there, and I get treated disrespectfully in return. They've lost a very long time costumer over a stupid $3 drink. read more

I've worked in 3 health food stores in my time, so I know the challenges of fitting inventory in often-small storefronts. It may have been "disorganized" at another time, but these folks have got it down to a science. No produce here, but they offer just about everything else in an orderly, easily understood selection. They have staff working constantly to refill (climbing in an out of a 4-foot-high cubbyhole) and politely answer questions. Metro and the other big-name grocery stores are much closer to me but I ride the subway an hour to get our everyday ingredients (baking powder, sorghum flour, dates and gluten free pasta) in bulk and save a ton of money. Most medicinal herbs I've wanted have been available. read more

Customer service is really bad here. I bought a bag of pita bread out of a bin they had in front of the store. Normally I would check the expiry date, but this time I didn't because I was in a hurry. I paid cash and was not given a receipt since I only bought that one item. When I got home and opened the bag the bread was completely mouldy all the way through. I brought it back to the store to ask if they would exchange it, but was told that I needed a receipt. I explained that I hadn't been given a receipt. The woman said all their bread was fresh and acted as though I had not purchased it there. What was especially bad is that it was the same woman who had sold me the bread about 2 hours earlier. I left the mouldy bread on the counter and walked out. It was the first time I'd ever bought anything at this store and unfortunately it will also be last time! What a rip off. They may have gained a measly $1.30 from me, but they lost a customer for life! I can't believe any store would be so stingy over a small amount like that. I love Kombucha tea, and before I learned how to make it, I bought it at Tutti Frutti - best price in Toronto. It's about one-third cheaper than other stores. I have been shopping here for years due to the slightly cheaper prices and whenever I had an issue with a product, they (older staff) would take it back on the condition that I buy something else in the store. This past Saturday I brought back an item that was literally inedible (supplement drink) and asked that I switch it out for a different flavour. The label on the bottle says, "Our Total Quality Obligation guarantees your satisfaction, or your money back." WELL, the young lady on cash opened the product, raised her voice in front of customers by telling me that she couldn't re sell this product as it had been opened. I told her to sent it back to the manufacturer as it does not taste anywhere near the description. I won['t go on and on but will say that she was incredibly rude and unprofessional about the whole thing. And for all those reviewers comparing both stores, Essence of Life and Tutti Frutti, I hear they are owned by the same people. After spending thousands in that place over the years and introducing friends to that place, I will not longer be shopping there. I'd rather spend an extra $5 and be dealt with like a human being instead of being on the receiving end of this nasty vitriol. read more

Tutti Frutti is an awesome little place in Kensington Market. Yes it is small and very cramped but boy is it stocked to the brim with goodness. It's the best place in Toronto for supplements, bulk and organic products. It has by far the best prices for supplements and it's the first place I go when I need to stock up on my vitamins. I also stock up on my canned items and condiments here and they have a great selection of BPA free canned goods and organic condiments like ketchup and salad dressing. I also get all my bulk needs filled here such as oats, granola, chia, hemp, sesame seeds, coconut flakes and all my nuts so I can have a daily healthy cereal sans sugar and preservatives. The staff is always friendly and eager to help you find any supplements you might be looking for. Honestly this is the hidden gem in Kensington Market and I want this place to stay forever so please support this independent store all you can. What an amazing little store. I wish, I knew about it years ago. The prices on their bulk products are very reasonable, the store is stocked well and the Asian owners are extremely helpful. I visited the place on Friday afternoon and it was packed with people. At the cash register they had packaged nuts and cookies. I've purchased the Fruit2Nutz cookie that was very tasty,made from spelt and loaded with pumpkin seeds and chocolate chips. This store is a gem, I've been going for many years. They always have the best prices and usually have exactly what I need. Sure it's cramped but lots of other things make up for that. Those Raincoast Crisps are $2 to 3 less here than most other places and they have weird things like agar agar. They also have a clearance bin where I often find great stuff. read more

It really does feel like a mom & pop store. I like the older korean couple/owners, but not so much of the occasional younger hired cashier female helper. She sucks! Anyways, the small store is dated but its bright and clean. The first time, I almost passed by because its so inconspicuously looking from the outside. Since then, prices have increased like the Prairie Naturals Shampoo/Conditioner from $9.39 to $9.99. Neal brothers organic chips from $2.25 to $2.50. I do still love their pricing for Organic Tradition powders. Don't know if they'll stay the same forever. Selection of goods is small, but to find the odd item to beat prices at EOL, I feel like i've won the lottery or something. Personally, Tutti's uniqueness has faded for me as i've found things online that are significantly cheaper, so I might just pop by to visit if i'm in the area and scour the store for new or unique finds that later might pique my interest. read more
