Evergreen Natural Foods is an excellent to shop for health foods. A personal experience is some years back I was looking for vitamin C cream. Joe the Manager said that he did not have it but he will look into getting it since I needed. I am considered on of the long term customers. Then one day I returned to the store and vitamin C was on the shelf. It was there ever since then. This is the kind of attention that both Joe and Harry afford their customers. I have been a customer for over 50 years and plan on being one for another 50 years God's willing. The prices compared to many other places are amazing. Whenever I am in a Mall or anywhere for that matter, I check out health foods prices and Evergreen Natural Foods on St.Clair ave W are comparably the most affordable. read more

I've been shopping here for 20 years and they've never been anything short of helpful and well stocked, from bulk foods to milk, eggs, to every kind of vitamin and supplement, even natural skin and hair care and green cleaning products. This is my go-to health food store. They have a great array of products (read: Earth Balance vegan cheese, it's impossible to find in this city!) from fresh, dry and frozen food, to cleaning products, personal care and homeopathic remedies. Unlike most health food stores I've been to, which look like drug fronts and stock maybe 5 cans of organic tomato soup, the aisles are jam packed with almost anything you could ever need. The best thing about this place is the service. The service is friendly and helpful, and at least a couple of people who work there are also licensed naturopaths, so they know their stuff. Did you know that if you take Oil of Oregano, you also need to take probiotics? The internet isn't full of correct and complete information! Shocking! My best example: three days before our wedding, my head was exploding due to a sudden sinus infection. Panicked, I ran to the store and assured the person behind the counter that I would do ANYTHING to fix it in three days. She gave me an intense cocktail of homeopathic sinus pills, eucalyptus neti pot treatments, oil of oregano drops and probiotics. In three days, the sinus infection, which usually takes at least a week to run its course, was GONE and I was able to go through that crazy day without feeling like I had rocks in my face. The staff were very helpful both in person and on the phone. Had trouble finding one item, but they knew exactly where it was the moment I asked. Very wide selection of products that surprised me considering the relatively small size of the store. Notably, they honoured my mask exemption without any hassle, which made me feel very relieved. I'm a bit surprised I'm the first to write a review for this nice little natural foods store right across from St. Clair West station/Loblaws. It's not really a destination but great if you live in the neighborhood. Evergreen is a straight-up health food store with decent prices (much more reasonable then the Health shop at Yonge St. Clair.) Nice sized section of bulk basics, vitamins, dairy, hygiene/beauty and packaged stuff. $2 almond milk and cheap grains is a plus. The guy who runs the store and his staff are extremely helpful and will assist in finding everything you need with a smile, which works out well because the store is a bit cramped and can be tricky to track everything down if you're in a hurry. Really though, are there any health stores that aren't packed and a bit disorganized? read more

I feel incredibly lucky to have Evergreen in my neighbourhood. Hands-down one of the best natural food stores in the city. The store isn't very big and the aisles can be cramped, It's definitely one of the cheapest (Tutti Frutti in Kensington is marginally cheaper, but has half the selection.) The other thing that draws people back to this store? The co-owner Harry. The man knows EVERYTHING when it comes to holistic health and remedies. He will always recommend the best remedies for whatever you need. The man also has a mind like a steel trap, remembering customer's names and previous purchases and conversations you've had with him. My only minor issue: the stock can be inconsistent sometimes. Items can disappear from shelves for months before showing up again. I don't know if it's because they're a small store and get shafted by suppliers more easily. But I've made special order requests to Harry in the past, and he usually comes through. read more

Why don't more people come here? I only just discovered this place by walking past it (it is very unassuming) and right by St. Clair West station. The prices are excellent for vitamins, at least AS CHEAP as in Kensington but I found some pills that are $15 cheaper than the lowest price at Tutti Frutti in Kensington. Excellent store, friendly owner, great selection of vitamins, a staggering array of Bob's Red Mill products as well as natural cleaning/baby products (properly priced too). Evergreen is a solid health food store with tons of great brands, lots of variety and a fabulous owner who will go out of his way to help you find anything or order it for you. There aren't many small local businesses left with this sort of selection and commitment to customer service, anymore. I used to live in the neighbourhood and I miss this amazing store. I used to shop there even when I wasn't looking for "health food" because their veggies were always fresh and their selection of international foodstuffs rivals Loblaws down the street. The man who works here tried to sell me a damaged product. What a jerk! And when I was looking for a supplement, he pointed me towards the worst brand names...Wth! I guess he was trying to get rid of them. So remember to research your products before buying. He talks incessantly when we are trying to shop, can be pushy, and at times complains about customers in our presence. No matter how friendly he is, stay on your toes and do not be swayed by all the chatter. Just because a salesperson makes you feel good, does not mean they will not cheat you. The store is cluttered, dusty, and disorganized...and does not seem clean. Because of that, I'm leery about buying their bulk foods or anything. I gave one star because they did give me a good price on some items, yet I can get the same with internet sellers. Although the prices may be better than other stores, you may lose out on freshness. read more

This has been a neighbourhood staple for years; staff have always been friendly and helpful, and the selection is excellent (and expanding). Besides a wide variety of groceries and snacks (including prepared foods), there are vitamins, supplements, personal grooming and household products etc.. You really could shop for everything here, although as with most stores who cater to health- and planet-conscious customers, products are not always budget-friendly. read more

I am a big fan of Giddy Yoyo and Evergreen is one of the few places that has these elusive chocolate bars. But so far this is the only store I've seen that has all the flavors I wanted. They have more variety than the other stores too. The owner was extremely helpful and very friendly. He even gave me a deal because I bought 5 of these delicious babies. Even if he didn't give me the deal, he sells it at a way cheaper price than other retailers. Will definitely be coming back! read more

Do not underestimate the small shop front, this place is large and well priced. They had everything I was looking for as well as tons of new options for me - I'm a vegetarian so I am always on the lookout for new yummy meat free things. As far as health food stores go, this place is pretty low end. I've only ever gone into this place to buy tempeh, cause no other store nearby sells it. The staff/owners seem quite friendly though, and the store is always clean and decently stocked from what I see. If you don't mind the travel time, make the trip to the Big carrot or the Sweet Potato if you're looking for a more comprehensive produce/grocery selection. read more

One of the most plentifully stocked natural food stores I have ever seen! The staff is wonderful (particularly the male owner although I don't know his name) and there are plenty of unique products to choose from. There is also a prepared foods section with all kinds of baked goods from vegan, gluten-free bakeries around the city. They also have a nice selection of fresh soups, roti rolls, baked (and fried) samosas and vegan sushi. Yum. 3 thumbs up for this place (extra thumb for customer service). read more

I am definitely a fan of Evergreen, and have been a long time customer, though not as frequently in the past few years. It's a great place to stop in for a healthy snack, or to do a major bulk food shop. Don't expect a lot in the way of fresh veges, though. It's mainly dry goods, packaged staples, and a decent fridge/freezer section. And their are a few surprises tucked away in every cranny of this store. Their selection of supplements is fantastic for such a small and varied store, and their prices are hard to beat. And if you can't find something, just ask. I am so fortunate to have this store in my neighborhood. The folks working here are incredibly knowledgable, helpful and will order any product if it isn't in stock. They carry such a great selection of food,spices, bulk items and remedies and it's decently priced. Staff seem to remember every customer and have helped me navigate the best products and foods to support my overall wellbeing. When I moved to this neighbourhood from Roncesvalles I was happy to find out that Evergreen had another location in this neighbourhood. (I know they had another location I just never asked where it was). They have great brands at reasonable prices and are knowledgeable and helpful. If they don't carry it they will look into it and try and get it for you. If they are out of stalk they usually get it within a week for you. They are very friendly and personable. They know what products I usually get and If I need something they always recommend things I am happy with. i was shocked to go to this store on st clair ave west this past wednesday and there were no percautions what so ever being taken. no limit to customers in the store, completely impossible to stay 6' away from everyone, staff stocking shelves making it even more crowded. and masks being sold at the till for a ridiculous price. it was my first time ever to the store. i wont be back... read more

The store is pricy, but it has every vegan product I've ever looked for, and has even introduced me to wonderful items like vegan cheezecake. The manager is very friendly and will order products for you if you ask. I can always get dandies marshmallows and vegenaise there and I'm always finding new products to try. They always have everything I'm looking for, and at better prices than just about anywhere. I love this store! They are honest, have a lot of integrity, their prices are very good, and their product selection is very reasonable. They are also very knowledgeable about their products and make great recommendations (and they aren't into the up-sell). This health food store is def the best one I've been to in the city by far! Evergreen has everything I need from my vitamins to proteins to shampoos and even a yummy snack while shopping. I have to agree with the other reviews, when it comes to service it is fantastic. I've been there a couple of times but the owner remembered me after my first trip. Not only did he remember me, but he also asked about the products i purchased to see if I was happy with them and if they were working out. That is amazing considering that they probably have so many different kinds of people with different needs. I love it. I always thought that going completely organic was so expensive and I didn't think I could make that transition but with Evergreen it is possible. This place has an awful customer service. I called to find out prices for products I was going to go and purchase and when I called the owner answered. After giving me the price for one of the two items i was inquiring about the man had the audacity to say "I don't know the price, I'm busy right now, I have customers." in a very rude manner. After I said "wow, great customer service" he replied "yeah yeah, I'm very busy right now". I was appalled by his conduct....NEVER again will I come to this store no matter how much variety and selection they have. You cannot be rude to people in general especially when they approached you in a respectful manner....and you cannot be rude to your CUSTOMERS that support your business and livelihood by purchasing your products. RUDE people don't deserve my hard earned money!! If you care about how others treat you....you shouldn't come to this store. read more
