Again, I am writing about the service department and particularly Matt and the associate who sits to his right. They both were so involved. I came in for a recall issue on my Mustang GT. It involved the fuel pump, but when I got it back, it ran awful. Matt determined that the cause was that I had a Ford Performance Package that messed up the computer. I brought the car back the next day; they gave me a really nice loaner and fixed the issue. I especially appreciated and enjoyed Matt's sense of humor that helped get me through this. Avoid this place--and specifically avoid Service Advisor Matt Alvis! ​I brought my car into San Juan Capistrano Ford for a routine oil change, expecting a straightforward and standard service experience. Instead, it was an absolute nightmare from start to finish. ​First off, the wait time was completely unreasonable for a basic oil change. It took drastically longer than promised, with zero communication or updates while I sat around waiting. ​To make matters worse, I had to deal with a Service Advisor named Matt Alves, who gave me some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Matt was incredibly rude, dismissive, and unprofessional throughout the entire interaction. He acted like basic customer courtesy was a massive inconvenience to him. If you value your time and expect to be treated with basic respect, stay far away from Matt Alvis. ​When I finally got my vehicle back, the disrespect to me as a customer carried over to my property. The inside door handle of my car was damaged. If you're in need of service, I recommend any place else. As much as they will call you, text you, email you, send you coupons and beg you to come have service there, don't fall for it. They finally got me to try them again and set an appointment for 8 AM for an oil change and tire rotation. At 9:30 I asked how things were going and the gentleman shared that it'll be another hour and a half to two hours. Need this to say I got my car back and drove down to Valvoline. I wouldn't buy a car here nor would I obtain service from them. It certainly has gone downhill from years before. I purchased a 2002 ford thunderbird from Tuttle click ford in 2002. It has been serviced by them every year when necessary. Recently the engine light came on and as usual I took it to Capistrano Ford for repair. This was in October of last year. Ford no longer make the parts and Capistrano Ford was able to obtain the part although it was the wrong part. In late December they obtain the right part and installed it. Unfortunately that didn't work. The mechanics said they would drop the gas tank and see if there was another leak. In January I took the car for additional service ie drop the gas tank and look for the additional leak. At this point they told me that they were not going to do anything since their policy was not to work on older cars. If this was true why did they do it in the first place and continue service the car for the last 22years. I might mention there's less than 50K miles on the car read more

I've never experienced such miscommunication and lack of delivery with any business I've ever dealt with in my life. ***Second place would be SiriusXM radio customer service when they first came out. OVER 20 yrs ago*** I'm blown away at the incompetencies which run this dealership. My service plan includes oil changes and tire rotations. Suspected my tires weren't rotated so I marked them before my last service appt. Sure enough, not rotated again. Gives me zero faith that they actually changed my oil! Warranty issues which they said once they diagnosed them as warranty issues (they are! The car is new, low miles) that they would provide a rental. Took 4 business days for them to diagnose them as warranty issues. How convenient for them. NOT for me! I would call in the morning for an update and conveniently not hear from them until the next morning. One less day of them paying for a rental car for me. It breaks me to give a one star as I have had nothing but good service in the past Took my car in with a problem with the back up camera. It was three days before they started to look at it so the part they had in stock did not fit and they wanted to keep it through the weekend to order another camera . This would have been a week at the dealer . This gave me to time to research the problem on the Ford forums. I did not need a new camera at a $1000 cost , this was a common and well know problem with the connection on Fire Expeditions It should be a simple task to clean the connectors and cover them to stop more grime and dirt getting in . Disappointed that they had the car three days before looking at it , upset that they did not just do the fix. I would never buy another car from this dealership again. I paid cash for my Bronco and was told there would be NO HARD CREDIT CHECK...well, they did a hard credit check that affected my credit. Further, they made a mistake on my contract and wanted me to anti up another 4K which after calling corporate I received a call from some manager who said they would take care of it. Paying cash and after picking out car was still a 4 hour ta do. I had after market leather installed and when I received my Bronco back there was a dent in the plastic molding. When I complained I was advised "how do we know that is when it happened". Needless to say they would not make the repair. I recently purchased a 2023 Bronco Sport and while the purchasing experience wasn't high pressure (thank heaven!), the after-sale experience has left a bad taste in my mouth. I had to go to the dealer for a couple of minor things and while I was there asked several questions about how the car worked. A nice sales person sat with me and worked hard to answer all of them, which I appreciated. However, he was not well versed in the operation of the car and gave me some inaccurate information, which ultimately led to me being stranded with a dead battery with 410 miles on the car. Had he known more about how the car worked he would have suggested getting it checked out. What made things worse was my inability to contact ANYONE four days later when I called to tell them I was stuck with a car that wouldn't move. I called Service 3 times and got no answer. I called Sales asking for help, only to be transferred to Service where nobody answered again. I called Sales again, insisting that they physically walk over to Service and bring someone back to the phone, which they did. They ultimately sent someone out who jump-started the car and then followed me back to the dealer to have the battery replaced. While waiting for the battery I questioned both sales and service people and the Sales Manager about why the bad battery wasn't detected during the PDI and nobody could provide an answer other than "it happens". Coincidentally, earlier that day I received what I assume was a robo call from Steven Smith, the General Manager, thanking me for my recent purchase and making sure I had "an exceptional experience with our team." He went on to say, "If you have any questions please call me at ...", which I tried doing the next morning to let him know of my frustration at not being to easily reach someone the previous day and that a brand new car's battery had completely failed. I asked to be called back, leaving my number. I actually called again later that day and again two days later and have yet to receive a return call from him. While I'm basically happy with my car, I'm NOT pleased with the lack of responsiveness from the General Manager. My confidence in my ability to reach Service when I need to schedule an appointment has been shaken, leaving me to wonder if my experience was an exception or the norm. The employees here will lie through their teeth, do not trust a word that you are told at this dealership; I have never recommended stronger than any place I have ever visited to avoid it...with all cost...like the plague!! Great indication of how corrupt & lazy they are, oh and guess what? ...they never tried to call me per their ambiguous statement at the end of their template comment that "we'll be in touch shortly " Avoid this business at all cost. They will use every angle to exploit & take advantage of you. We walked in to the lobby on a Saturday and no one greeted us, even though there were no customers there. After we walked over to a desk and told them we had questions about the mustang mach e a sales person came over. The sales person was able to answer some, but not all, of our questions. When we asked to do a test drive the sales person assigned a junior sales person to chaperone our drive. Unfortunately, the junior sales person was able to answer NONE of our questions about the car. After the test drive, he said he would ask the senior sales person for answers to our questions, but wasn't able to get the answers and asked for our contact info. We gave him our email address but no one ever contacted us with the answers. Plus, they were charging a dealer markup of $7500 above sticker! I understand that you can jack up the price and take advantage of the temporary shortfall in supply, but that's not the way to win customer loyalty. I'm never going going back to this dealership and this interaction makes me question my loyalty to the Ford brand. read more

I'd like to comment on my experience with one of Capistrano Ford's salesman - Cory Sweeny. I had ordered a Mustang Mach E about a year ago. From the moment the car came in, Cory was a joy to deal with. Friendly, cooperative and honest with me (I know, I know, I too have had unsavory experiences in car dealerships in the past.) I have bought many, many cars in the past and I can say that Cory is the real deal. While I have read about some salespeople with whom customers have been frustrated for lack of knowledge about this EV, Cory had clearly taken the time to read and learn about the features of the car. While he did not have all the answers, he had most of them. And after all, even the techies on the forums don't have all the answers on this new car. The important character of Cory is his reliable follow through. When asked any questions for which he didn't have an answer, he researched each issue and provided me with prompt responses. The car, a GT Performance, has been very satisfying with a quality level equal to the many of the higher priced German makes. The software is a little glitchy, but Ford is making progress with upgrades. All and all, buying the car has been a very positive experience with Cory and he is the kind of salesman that one would recommend to family and friends. In a RIDICULOUS car market, this dealership was the only that was 1) great to work with and 2) had reasonable prices. My husband and I searched all the way from SD to this location and in between to look for a nice truck that was reasonably priced and Brett was hands down the most helpful sales guy we've talked to in this entire process. Extremely helpful and nice guy. He did not make the car buying experience dreadful whatsoever (which it always is)- it was actually really exciting! We walked away with a brand new Ford F-250 within a couple hours. They detailed it and filled up the tank, threw in some rubber mats and put a nice big bow on top. I would recommend asking for Brett Ogen (I believe is his last name) if you decide to stop here. Together with Luis Palos they have a great ability to ease ones concern about the car buying process. Most people dread going to the dealership for hours on end and haggling back and forth. Not here!!! They are friendly, have food, a big screen tv and it's too bad you won't be able to enjoy it because I got the price hammered out before hand and spent thirty minutes doing paperwork because the application was online. H E L P F U L, K I N D, and truck W I Z A R D S!! Here's my story: So (like an idiot) I put diesel fuel in a nondiesel truck -.- but im sooooo fortunate that the truck broke down in San Juan! I called around 615 and spoke to Bob Clarke (who was so sweet and helpful right off the bat) and told him what I'd done and he immediately told me he would ask his last open technician of the day (Jordan Scott (I hope I spelled that right!)) if he could take me. Jordan ended up waiting almost 45 minutes for me to get my truck towed to him, then spent another 2 & 1/2 hours after he was suppose to be off to help me with this truck! YOU'RE SO SWEET!! Also, the whole time, Bob would go back and forth from the bay to me to give me updates on the truck! Like W O W! Completely ABOVE and BEYOND what they had to do. All in all, from my first point of contact, to when I left, was quite possibly the most pleasant experience I've ever had at an auto shop/dealership. They were kind, respectful, knowledgeable and just simply great people. And to be honest, having to take it to a dealership, I was a little skeptical. But they knew exactly what to do and what to try first before having to charge you a ton of money if ya don't need it. They're HONEST!
