This place is fabulous, it is an old resort and has a very nice café right by the pool. You can see the boats come in and dock and you can just walk across the street to the beach. My wife and I used to enjoy staying at Tween Waters. Every time we vacationed on Captiva, we would look forward to being there. Unfortunately, they have lost their way. The last time we stayed, the room we had was a Gulf Front guest room. The view is awesome, the bedding is uncomfortable. It was to the point that I got six hours of sleep, for the weekend. We had a couple of small service issues that were not taken of as quickly as they probably should have been resulting in less vacationing time. The tipping point for me is that my wife and I have decided to renew our vows. She'd always wanted it on Captiva and thought Tween would be the place to do so. She contacted the wedding planner via email several times before getting a response that was so off-putting that it had upset her. Needless to say - this once treasure has become an absolute joke. We will not be staying there again. read more

Came late in the afternoon, around 4 pm, to eat and drink at the pool bar. Was turned away and told we were not welcome there. They informed us that next time we needed to call ahead and get a $35 parking pass before we would be allowed to be on the property. We have been there and paid the $35 so many times before but we were there all day. We've been coming here for years but recently this place has slipped in it's appeal. Now its a very unfriendly place to locals. The staff here needs some serious lessons in customer service and they need to learn that guests of the property are paying their salaries. Day Trippers spend, on average, $200 a day to come here, but are treated like second rate citizens. Despite being staying guests at the hotel on numerous occasions, we were recognized by the staff and still treated badly. Very dis-satisfied and we will not be back!! read more

Great location but very disappointing resort. Rooms are very poorly furnished, mattresses old and thin, bedding worn. The facilities updated 30 years a ago. worst part is I suspect bed bugs. Every morning I wake up with more bites from my face to my feet. We will not return, there are plenty of other places nearby that don't look like an old motel 6. read more

Parking is overpriced but at least gives at $25 bar tab. But when the piña coladas are the worst I've ever tried it doesn't justify the parking. The sand at the beach finished my piña colada for me. A premium location that stretches from the bay the Gulf of Mexico. The surrounding waters are jaw droppingly beautiful on both sides. The cottages are old and kind of decrepit, but they have more charm than the generic motel rooms. The pool and adjoining bar is very nice. They have a small marina for boaters and offer some charters from there. You can rent boats there as well. read more

We just went to a wedding at this resort and were so impressed with the service, accommodations and staff at Tween Waters. Our room had great view of the pool area and our friends' had a view of the bay that allowed us to spot the occasional manatee surfacing. Kayaking, bicycling, tennis, shuffleboard, and more are available for reasonable rental fees. The beach is a short walk across the street and the pool area with a coffee shop and bar is clean and welcoming. Breakfast buffet was included with fresh fruit, juice, breads, yogurt, etc, and even had soy milk as an option, which several in my group appreciated. We could have spent weeks exploring all that the island had to offer, and we hope to be back again someday! read more

The hotel is very nice and a superb location. It has several styles of rooms.. King suite 203 is great!!!! Cannot speak for standard rooms. Crows nest restaurant is hit and miss, but overall pretty good. all of the staff is great! I see several reviews of people coming in for the day and not liking being turned away.. Duh... it is a private hotel/resort.. stay here and you will love it based on our experience. We will come back in the fall.. read more

I LOVE THIS PLACE!! LOVE IT!! First of all, from the outside you would never guess how nice it is. We had what I'm guessing was one of their smaller rooms, in the Mangrove building. We booked at the last minute and took what was available. The room was immaculate, appears to have been renovated within the last couple of years. Bed was comfy & clean. The location is perfect. There are several places to eat, drink and listen to live music, all right on the property. So, you can have a couple drinks and just stumble back to your room!! The food in the Crows Nest was very good! As was the service (Jasmine ). We had a sashimi tuna appetizer. I suggest they add a dollop of wasabi! Although, it is reasonably spicy, even for me, who likes a 10/10 on the spicy scale! We did have breakfast this morning & it was delicious. Nile was lovely. I had the breakfast sandwich and my husband had the eggs ranchero. Coffee is available at 7 & breakfast at 730am. This was a little side trip for us, after business in Naples. I am so sad we can't stay just one more day. The pool looks beautiful. There's a kayak, boat & paddle board rental on the property. We are ABSOLUTELY planning to come back. Captiva is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. This island rivals anywhere else I have ever been, including Myrtle Beach, the outer bank, cape cod, all the MD/Delaware beaches, Destin, FL & Panama Beach, Naples, Miami beach, cocoa beach & the Space coast.. We arranged ahead of time for a day pass and were looking forward to a lunch at the Tween Pool Bar. We parked and then were told we needed to move to the day pass parking -- my daughter has a 10 month old baby and is expecting a baby in June. As we traveled to the other end of the resort I got more and more upset. Their customer service is the worst I have experienced in 10 years. By the time we got our lunch I was not interested in eating or spending 1 more minute in this resort. In the past I have referred people to the resort and I will never make that mistake again. I am writing this review to inform others about the reality of this place. We were a bit taken back when we arrived here. The website for Tween Waters Inn makes the resort look very attractive, however, once you get here, you realize its property is in need of a complete makeover. The first disappointment for us when we arrived was the lobby to check in - first impressions are important and set a tone. The lobby is so outdated and lacks a welcoming ambiance. The roads on the property are rough and parking under the buildings could be improved. The multiple buildings look original with old paint, crumbling facia boards, ugly doors that lack caulking so critters from outdoors can find their way into the rooms. Our room was nice and comfortable with an updated bathroom . To be fair, the resort is under construction, but instead of closing it to make improvements, hotel guests have to live through it. Next to a beautiful pool are several piles of dirt to stare at. In addition, there is not a nice restaurant to have a sit down meal; the only places to eat are by the pool for lunch or the Crow's Nest after 4:00 with a limited menu. Most patrons at the pool were complaining about the accommodations and the limited lunch menu. The coffee and breakfast foods are sold at a kiosk. I love to eat fruit and they did not sell fruit at all. We had to go into Sanibel to buy fruit. The reason we booked our stay here was to rest and relax and stay mostly on the premises. Had I known these facts, which were never disclosed to us, I would have never booked this place. The reason I even gave this place 2 stars is for their Serenity pool, which was a pool isolated from the main pool where it is very quiet and calming. They have about 5 private cabanas you can rent for the day. Also the burgers and servers at the pool were excellent. read more

This was my wife and I first trip to sannibel/captiva island and we are absolutely in love with this place. We picked Tween Waters because some of the other resorts were already full by the time we decided to come. I am glad they were, this place is great and the staff is friendly. We are defiantly going to come back with our whole family. There is stuff for the kids and stuff for the adults and everything is very reasonably priced. Really love the private beach and the bell boy that took care of our umbrella and chairs everyday is awesome. The beach is so close to the resort is is like you were right on it, plus since it's private it is very quiet and peaceful. This resort is well worth it. read more

Close to a bunch of great restaurants and a quick walk to the beach. We had a bayside room and it was gorgeous for just sitting and watching the boats come in and out. My husband and I visited the spa recently for our anniversary. The building itself is super nice and half the fun is just getting there as the area is lovely. We were given our own changing area, shower, etc- and each room was spotless clean. The room for the couple's massage was well decorated and definitely helped with the peaceful vibe. And the massages themselves? Heaven. The ladies were super professional, quiet and definitely knew exactly how to find the sore spots. My only slight complaint is that we felt rushed the whole time. We had to change, go to the massage, shower off, go to the hot tub. I mean, come on, those are GREAT steps to have to go through! But, we did feel like they were pushing us through asap. Also, we were given water, but not offered any other drinks, even for purchase. I guess I'm used to sipping on tea or wine while "spa-ing." This certainly isn't a big deal, but it would be a nice perk. Other than that- really, really nice place for a spa day. read more

We stayed here back in July 2018. It was a nice place to stay. The rooms were comfy and has great AC units but our favorite was the adult pool area and able to relax with drinks and food served by waiters pool side. They were very attentive and friendly. We enjoyed the pool quite a bit but could never get a cabana... but it was relaxing and quite fun. It's an old Florida feel. read more

Stayed at 'Tween Waters for 4 nights in January 2013. Loved the campy feel, laid back atmosphere, and lodge type accommodations. We went for a small business partner meeting with our wives, so while we were meeting the ladies took a lot of walks on the beach. We enjoyed the food (the included breakfast is continental, but hardly basic). A bit pricey, but we expected that on the islands. The pool was clean and large, with a nice bar and good food on site there. The drinks at the bar were good, strong, and with a plentiful variety. We would recommend to anyone for a nice short vacation to go here, and would travel back ourselves. read more

Visiting this resort after an exhausting stay at Disney but not having a very good time. A bag full of clothes purchased at Disney has gone missing from our room. We called last night after returning to our room and noticed it gone. We were told someone would contact us in the morning. After much follow up from us we were told that the housekeeper said she didn't do anything with our item so we would probably find them later. We have checked the room, our luggage and our rental car twice. We don't have them. We have our credit card receipts showing we bought the items but the hotel doesn't care. They told us to call the sheriffs office. That's our next step. Other issues, house cleaning poor. First day of our visit they didn't show up till 4:00pm and the second day we had sand in the bath tub. Doesn't inspire confidence. Also our spa visi was interrupted by construction on the building. Hard to relax with the building shaking. Very disappointed in this resort. Follow up. Called the Sheriff and filled out a report. Never got a return phone call from the general manager, it was his day off and I guess this didn't warrant his attention. At checkout they tried to charge us a resort fee even though our booking through Hotels.com said what we paid them covered all taxes and fees. They took it off. I wonder how many people they do this to? read more

Stayed here 3 nights Mid-November with my husband. Loved: *Easy Access to the beach-a short walk across the road. Clean beach with chairs and umbrellas/cabanas to rent. Water was amazing. *Spa-great service and good location-received a very nice pregnancy massage. *Pool area-did not take a dip, but the pool area was very pretty. The pool bar also was good for lunch the 1 full day we spent at the beach *Continental Breakfast-decent selection of items, cereal was a bit stale though *Screened in balcony, we had a water view room and it was very nice. Didn't Love: *The Crow's Nest Restaurant-found it to be a bit dingy and overpriced with food that wasn't that great *Sound in the room itself. Major complaint was the thin walls/adjoining door to next door. Was woken up all 3 nights by the neighbors next door. Whether it was loud talking/laughing in the middle of the night or the couple enjoying each other, if you catch my drift. For the value, I would stay there again. Sanibel was where we ventured our last two nights for dinner. read more

Although our accommodations were very nice, there were so many negatives that I doubt I would recommend Tween Waters. To be specific, no breakfast offered on site, shuttle doesn't run until 10:00 am, so if you are there without transportation, you have to walk over a mile to find food. They charge for WiFi daily and you have to pay $5 for the shuttle to town. Without transportation, they have you over a barrel and can charge you for every little thing. My friend was getting married at the resort and it wasn't a smooth process. Elevators were not working, etc. Have to say though that the food at the reception was great. read more

Our stay was too short... I've seen a lot of negative comments, but the Osprey Cottage was so comfortable for us. There is laundry facilities and a fabulous beach with tons of shells to keep you busy on the hunt for that perfect one. The older rooms look pretty crappy from the outside, may be worth it for the free kayaking, etc? Anyway, the do need to clean the cigarette butts that are everywhere.... We got married here, and have been back three times. The price is reasonable (around $200 for an ocean view with private balcony) and they location is perfect, just across the street from the beach. The second visit they had a complimentary bottle of champagne since we were celebrating our anniversary. This last visit, a $50 gift card good on our next visit. The pool is clean and well maintained, hey rent bicycles at the marina, and our room had Ramirez countertops, flat screen TV, and a mini fridge in the kitchenette. During our stay in Captiva at the beginning of the month, we went to the tiki bar twice even though we were not hotel guests. Nobody ever said anything to me that we had to pay for parking, of course I did not ask either. We did spend quite a bit at the tiki bar which I assumed was fine compensation for using the pool. This is our second time staycationing at Tween. This time was with friends celebrating their wedding anniversary with a vow renewal ceremony on the beach. The suite in Gumbo Limbo is well appointed and for do it yourself cooks the full kitchen is perfect for bringing provisions. The double entry balcony is my favorite spot for morning coffee and reading and taking in the tranquil views of the marina, birds, boaters and sea life. Saturday morning we watched a manatee play in the marina beneath our balcony as boaters, kayakers and paddle boarders glided by unknowingly. The dedicated parking spot that comes with the suite is a convenient and smart feature too. The trouble we had on Friday was a group of people who returned to their room near ours well past midnight and partied extremely loud waking us from sound sleep. The group migrated from their room down to the waterside below our balcony. They carried on with loud voices and music until after 4 a.m. thereby ruining our night and the next morning while we tried to make-up for the lost hours and missed the complimentary breakfast as a result. This wasnt just a "me" problem as the noise was loud enough to disrupt the dozens of other guest rooms in our building and adjacent Palmetto building. Maybe an anomaly but I think not because a similar thing happened on our first stay here about a year ago. I am surprised that Tween tolerates this behavior and does not monitor late night activity more closely to ensure a pleasant experience for all guests. I can get the party atmosphere at Lani Kai on Fort Myers Beach for a lot less money and expect a more tranquil environment at Tween Waters. Guaranteed that we will not have this experience next weekend when we celebrate our own anniversary at Inn on Fifth in Naples. I want to be loyal to Tween as they are good corporate citizens, always donating to charitable causes and members of various chambers of commerce. But unless we can book a private cottage next time I will hesitate to book at Tween without exploring other options because one bad night of noise is enough to ruin a long weekend no matter how great all the other aspects of the resort are. read more

We absolutely LOVE T'ween Waters inn and the staff. Amin at the coffee bar is super friendly, always has a smile on and has all the answers to our questions. Sam at the bar provides warm and friendly service and has remembered us on our second visit. We love relaxing by the pool enjoying drinks and having lunch. As local residents we enjoy coming for the day and are excited to lounge around this pool summer and look for to our stay in August for the weekend. read more

I was going for a 5 star review from the minute we checked in bc the folks working in the front desk were more than excellent. The tall gentleman with the blonde hair color was magnificent, I didn't get this name but very nice gent. Everything throughout the weekend was grrrrrrrrreat. The service from the front desk when needed, house keeping and restaurant employees as well. We had dinner at the crows nest, they had a Live act which was wonderful. Complimentary breakfast at the Captiva House was very nice, could have a little better selection but I understand the restaurant has to make money to do you can order from the menu as well. Everything sounds great for a 5 star rating right? Here's a minor and a major game changer. We wanted to BBQ and we're told the pit was on the end of our building, it was behind a huge dumpster that had millions of flys, I'll take that hit for not asking the front desk for another pit location which we found out at checkout that there are multiple. Bathrooms by the pool area under the spa really need to be checked up hourly or regularly :-( really bad in there. The major. We went to the beach Sunday morning. Put our beach chairs on the sand and we're enjoying the beach. About an hour or two into being at the beach we where told one of the guys that manages the chairs and cabanas that we had to move all our stuff to the other side where there was no chairs or cabanas bc we were in the way of the beach goers that rented some chairs. Mind you, we where there since early. Nobody around. Supposedly the guy that happened to rent one of the chairs on the beach by us made a complaint to the chairs and cabana attendant. We had a small Bluetooth speaker which we were playing tunes out of at a reasonable tone and we're also told to turn it off. Now, I'm paying the same money as everyone else and im on vacation as well and feel entitled to enjoy the beach as well. The gent that told us to move did not show any consideration at all , tried to reason with us. He just wanted us to move. I made a complaint to the front desk in which Olga was just the sweetest person and handled our complaint. She gave us the information for the GM in which I will be contacting this week bc the experience was great until that moment. There's no sign that says you can't park personal property on the beach by the rental equipment. My family and I are really debating revisiting bc of that experience. read more

Oasis Pool Bar Review Be aware the Oasis Pool Bar is not open to the public (something not advertised on their website). I went to go visit the Oasis today, after having several meals there this week (they're excellent) only to have some guy on a golf cart try to explain to me that I had to purchase a $35 day pass before being able to park. First off, where is this even listed as a requirement on their website (answer: nowhere). He insisted it was a great deal since I'd be able to use their tennis courts and pool. I happen to live in the area and know their tennis courts (3 unshaded subpar courts), and pool (crowded) and as a person visiting by myself I had no interest in either, particularly the tennis aspect he was pushing at me (like I was going to play with myself?). I attempted to let the guy understand I just wanted to eat at the restaurant, which is when he brought up the necessity of the $35 pass. A great deal he told me, since it includes a $25 voucher to the restaurants. A great deal? So basically, it's a $10 parking pass, with a voucher that essentially forces me to use all $25 in one meal. I was by myself, and frankly with his attitude had no intention of doing either. I should say, from experience from earlier in the week, the staff and the food at the Oasis is great. It's a real shame the management would rather not have people eat there. read more

Absolutely amazing! My husband and I were married here on May 4th and spent almost 2 weeks at this beautiful place. We stayed in one of the cottages facing the ocean and it was perfect. The cottage was clean, cozy, and everything a beach cottage should be. The day of the wedding my bridesmaids and I spent the majority of the day getting our hair and makeup done in the Spa at the resort. The staff was amazing, friendly, and incredibly talented. It ended up raining pretty heavy that day but we had champagne delivered and the wonderful ladies made us feel relaxed and beautiful. When it was time for the ceremony the rain cleared and my bridesmaids and I were taken by golf cart to where the ceremony was to be held. It was beautiful!! Everything we could have hoped for. We finished off our vacation/honeymoon there by kayaking, swimming in the ocean, shopping, taking a cruise and getting drinks by the pool. The entire staff was fantastic!! I could go on and on... They advertise that you can dock your boat and enjoy the resort for a daily fee. Just to confirm we called and the person that answered the phone said yes, they do offer dockage and daily passes. So we loaded up the boat and the family and set out for a 45 min boat ride to the resort. Once we arrived we were first met by a female representative who did confirm that they are offering dockage and that the daily fee is $50 (was told $35 on the phone - but whatever, the money wasn't the issue). No worries. She directed us to a different location on the dock where we were then approached a male representative (Dan?) Who proceeded to tell us we couldn't dock and that they were not issuing guest passes for the weekend. Well, that would have been nice to know when we called and it would have been nice if the female representative didn't tell us otherwise. Your website doesn't indicate such, nor did the customer service representative that we spoke to this morning. To top if off the dockmaster then got an attitude over the whole thing and just waved us off and walked away. Clearly he or your team doesn't understand the positive customer service model or how to exceed a guests expectations. I will never return or recommend to anybody. There are other resorts that will appreciate our business. We frequent Sanibel and will drive right past every time. read more

Do not stay here! We came for our honeymoon and were more than disappointed. Service members were all very rude!!! From the old lady at the pool bar to the restaurant and front desk staff. We were at front desk asking for a refund after just 2 hours here! We stayed at one of the cottages and it was a huge disappointment. The cottage was unkempt inside and no care is given to this place. Huge layers of dust under the high bed like it had never been cleaned before. Wifi doesn't work and we were told they couldn't do anything about it. Light bulbs were out in bedroom night stands. Beer bottles were thrown in bushes. Bathroom floor looked like it had never been mopped and the tub didn't drain so we showered in our dirty water as the tub filled up. The tub fixtures were falling off the tile walls. The door couldn't fully open because it hit the bed or other furniture. The paint in cottage was so sloppily down it was messy over trim board. The rocker in porch was broken. All the blinds in room were broke and you could see through them. You could hear the staff leave the restaurant at 1AM as they all slammed their car doors. I could go on and on. The visit to their "fine dining restaurant" was the icing on the cake for us. Please see separate review on that! But the worst part is we went to front desk with our concerns multiple times and were dismissed by Olga. After we told her we wanted to leave she told us she couldn't do anything, it was up to the manager. Yet she said although we were unhappy and wanted to leave that it was "inappropriate" to call her manager. So we had to wait for him till the next day and he still never came. Luckily a nice man, Jeferson, finally listened to our concerns and refunded our money so we could try and salvage our honeymoon. He said the manager Jon would call us but guess what, Jon never called. You are better off staying at a nice resort on mainland (cheaper and nicer) and visiting the island. We recently spent two days at the Tween Waters Resort Marina. The overall experience was adequate, however I am writing this review to expose what I feel were unacceptable practices regarding their Continental Breakfast Buffet offered free to resort guests. We accompanied friends to breakfast and were advised that our buffet would be $9.95 each as we were not staying at the resort... we were paying for dockage at the marina. OK, in order to visit with our friends who were staying in a resort room we went ahead and ordered the continental breakfast buffet for $9.95 as stated on the website and on the menu to include coffee. When our bill came we were charged $12.00 each and when we questioned the charge we were advised by mgmt. that the amt. was correct and was stated on the menu as $12.00. Further I was told that was a good price for what was available. I have rechecked the website which has a copy of the menu stating that the buffet is $9.95. Further I am insulted to have been told one price and charged another regardless of what was on the buffet. I am very sorry to say that after spending over the amount charged for a room we will probably not visit Tween Waters again... all because the staff insisted on charging us $4.10 more than the should have. And yes, we can afford their breakfast. read more

We recently stayed here 3 nights. Not the best experience. Place is crazy with people including day trippers that they allow at the beach, pool and marina. Rooms need some serious maintenance. This place is far from cheap...experience is more like you would expect at a $100/night motel. Kids are running everywhere. They do include a very nice breakfast buffet. In general I'd give this a pass unless you are looking a spring break type of experience. read more
