Love the concept and enjoy the ambiance. Haven't ever eaten there. I come for the coffee, which is good. ATTENTION OWNERS: while I come for the coffee, not the commode- PLEASE talk with your cleaning service about doing a better job in the bat 6 months later, been here many, many times between reviews. I really do like this place, as previously mentioned the ambiance and coffee is good/great.Still haven't tried any of the food, nor have I come for any of the evening/weekend performances. Based on signage it looks like there are a great many offerings of many kinds of musical and other entertainment options. Haven't checked out the loo on this visit so I don't know if they've improved the conditions in there.

Came for a latte and enjoyed the ambience. It was after-school time, rainy. A mix of parents, kids and coffee drinkers. The barista did his best at latte art, smiled at his failure and turned over a quite good latte.

Five words: create your own grilled cheese. I could stop there and I should just stop there (because it is "enough said"), but I'm not going to. The atmosphere is fantastic. I've been in the market for a good coffee shop for awhile. I've tried Brothers K, Dollop, Ravinia Coffee Station, and bunch of other coffee shops. And as much as I think Brother K and Dollop are legit coffee shops, this one takes the cake for me. Their baristas are friendly. I feel like I found a home, it's a great place just to relax and read a book. They are three blocks from the Glenview Public Library, their menu is written on the back of guitars, they roast their own coffee, they have live music, a couch, vinyls, and booze...I mean, what else can you want? Oh and I do have to say that their couch is very comfortable. Their chai latte is amazing as well.

Come for breakfast and stay through dinner! There's a new multi-purpose coffee house in town, and you'll want to keep an eye out for it. You don't want to miss going to Glenview's newest addition--Rock House (the third location for this establishment). It's a bit unassuming from the outside, but stop in and you'll be whisked away by the inviting staff and *note*worthy decor...especially that pretty pearly drum kit in the middle of the room. Rock House is a neighborhood coffee house with a lot of offerings, and I'm not just talking about the fantastic espresso (according to Rich C) and my personal favorite, the nutty roasted vanilla latte...delicious! Yes, it's a great place to gather with friends and colleagues with it's easy parking lot next door, but you can shop for record albums, sign up for music classes, and enjoy a live show in the evening. They have a simple small menu, but you can start with oatmeal for breakfast, order up a Bon Jovi or Willie Nelson build-your-own grilled cheese sammie for lunch, and stay for Barnaby's pizza by the slice and beer for dinner and/or a show. They also have their own coffee roaster, so don't forget to pick up a bag of beans on the way out. Great family-owned business, fabulous southern exposure lighting to warm any cold winter morning, and free WiFi! What more can you ask for?

I am so pumped that a real coffee house has opened in the Glenview/Northbrook area and I find it quite funny that it's down the street from Glenview Grind (GG). I tried GG a couple times and the coffee there was just awful and service was subpar. On the other hand upon stepping into Rock House on a Saturday morning, you're embraced with a live band and cheerful, friendly baristas. Rock House is really neat because it's a coffee shop and roaster in addition to being a music school, music venue, AND bar. I ordered a caramel soy latte and it was pretty good! It definitely could have used some more caramel in it but overall I was satisfied with my choice. Their prices are comparable to all other coffee shops and I will definitely be back to try more of their drinks and enjoy the live music.

    The owners do rock!!!!

We had a great time at Rock House and found it to be a fantastic place to unwind and rock out! Rock House is a great independently owned coffe house that incorporates the passion of its owners, the love of music! With that being said Rock house has a number of jam rooms that guests can use to jam with friends or simply take lessons to improve the rock skills. Along with the jam rooms they also have a great rack of records from Lover Boy to Cream and the Stones. This place is all about Rock, and let me tell you Rob and Criss know how to do that! But Rock house is more than the music it's an atmosphere that is true to its soul and from the minute you walk in you will know your at home. It's a place to grab a beer or a coffee and really enjoy the atmosphere. But just to be clear this is not a soulless Starbucks this is the Rock House! The live music is awesome, open mike night, karaoke night it's all good. Simply said Rock House is awesome!

Must check out this place! This is a great neighbor coffee shop in Glenview. I don't like the rock taste and I had avoided trying this place, but I think it is the best coffee shop in Glenview so far! Surprisingly, coffee was great! Latte was great flavor and beautiful. Staff was nice and friendly! Lots of seats available. It was a good place to work and study with free wifi. I came here on Friday afternoon and family karaoke night had started at 6:30pm, so I got out of here, but i had a good time here.

We came for the Friday Family karaoke night. The kids just loved it! They found their inner rock star on stage! Good song selections and a great, family friendly evening. The pizza is so-so, but the youngsters will gobble it up. A grilled cheese and roasted pepper sandwich was fine. Lots and lots of pepper - a bit too much for my taste. The wine pours are very generous. We were here for the singing, not the dining, so the average food was ok for us.

I sometimes like to go get coffee with my friend at this rock house location. The coffee is good. Service is very well too. Lots of comfortable seating. I especially like the cappuccino. I enjoy listening to whomever they have playing. So go for the coffee but stay for the jam session!

    Grilled cheese. Yum!

Rock House was terrific. Me and Taylor M. were in the area, and had time to stop in for a coffee and a quick snack. I got my usual mocha latte, and we shared a grilled cheese. The latte was good, but the grilled cheese was delicious. While we waited for our sandwich, we walked around and took the private rooms, where you can take private music lessons. While we ate we listened to some great music, and looked at the beautiful guitars hung on all the walls. I was surprised to see tha they were all for sale! I would definitely recommend Rock House for a brunch or lunch spot, especially if you like rock music!

Martin strongly believes in allowing kids to follow their interests, and has the talent, interest, and patience to help them do so in a wide range of genres. Our daughter goes to Martin for guitar lessons and I fear I may not be able to convey here just how amazing he is and what his instruction has meant for our daughter as a musician! I would recommend Martin and his crew any day! We wanted to get our girl started on guitar very early, only because she was exhibiting an affinity toward music and guitar that got us thinking it wouldn't hurt to try her at guitar, so we contacted Martin. He readily welcomed the notion of trialing and the rest is history. Besides being a phenomenal guitarist, his being an amazing person and having a Masters in Education have both manifested in the amazing way in which Martin teaches our girl to play the guitar. He works with her at her own pace, taking cues from how she learns in order to tailor his instructions to suit her learning, all the while making the lessons equal parts guitar and fun, entertaining our girl's every whim to be jovial and enjoy learning the guitar. He shows her the utmost respect and teaches her in a way that has inspired her to look up to flamenco legends. For her age, that level of aspiration itself is awe-inspiring and the credit goes to Martin. He doubles down on skills that our girl is good at while helping her elevate those she needs more work on, from strumming to chords to rhythms to percussion to improvising. We love his holistic approach of teaching the pupil to actually feel music and rhythm rather than just to learn to play the guitar. His methods have resulted in wonders! We have been fortunate to witness moments of our girl's performance that have impressed even Martin. That is the level of quality of instruction one can expect from Martin. He stresses on practicing, practicing and practicing some more. He also encourages playing at recitals that he arranges for his students, which is a great way for the student to be inspired and be audience-ready. He has also started our girl on sight reading, which is helping her to learn to play the guitar while reading music. I would characterize Martin's overall approach as informed (no unnecessary attachments to old or new methods just for the sake of it), inspiring, feedback-loop-based, very disciplined and simply amazing! And his guitar skills? Incredible! Let me put it this way, we have considered migrating to a warmer climate and one of the top considerations that have kept us in Chicago is that we don't want to lose Martin as our friend and our daughter's guitar teacher. And he's been a great friend to our daughter too. There are great guitar teachers everywhere, but there's only one Martin. Our girl's weekly guitar lesson is one of the highlights of her week that she looks forward to. It is a joy to see her learn to play the guitar and have the time of her life while at it! As for the rest of his studio, Martin has 16 teachers on every instrument (and even voice) who travel to people's homes for lessons, which is convenient for many families. The teachers are well-educated, passionate about their instruments and art, and they are wonderful with children. As I alluded to earlier, the studio also puts on three recitals free of charge every year! I only give online reviews when I feel the recipient absolutely deserves it and reviewing Martin and his studio was a no-brainer! I wholeheartedly recommend the Metzger Music Studio for any potential student interested in developing a lifetime love for learning music!

Came in several weeks ago, having done my research, looking for Yamaha piano. I had narrowed it down to 2 models. I asked about delivery timelines, since I wanted to buy a piano within a month. The sales manager or lead sales guy decides to tell me a story about labor shortages in Japan, meaning it could take a year to deliver certain models. Does this guy even want to sell a piano? "Come back when you're serious about buying," says the first guy. I am very much serious! I said this explicitly. Needless to say, I took my business elsewhere. Made an appointment with another authorized Yamaha dealer. Showed up, tried several pianos, and bought one within an hour, and for a much better price than what Grand Piano Haus listed in their showroom. Like I said, I was serious about buying a piano. Rick is an incredible guitar teacher, and I've had several. What makes him so good? Let me tell…read moreya... First off, his flexible teaching method. Some teachers are sticklers about theory, some are the "just play" kind. But Rick is a total chameleon, where he can adjust to how you like to learn and what your goals are. I change my mind sometimes, where sometimes I just start asking about theory, and he goes right there with me. Sometimes I just want to jam as fast as possible, and he's gone me doing songs by Guns n' Roses, John Mayer, and The Beatles very quickly (to be fair, I had a few years of guitar experience before about a 5 year lay off, so it's not like I was starting from zero, but man he's good at getting you back up to speed quickly!!). I've always said the mark of great teacher is that they can go with the flow to teach how YOU want to be taught and what works for your brain. He can do that, absolutely. Secondly, he's very smart tactically, showing you how to break down previously-complicated songs into smaller bite sized, manageable pieces. Doing that has made some songs I previously thought were impossible suddenly possible. I've made great progress on a dream song of mine, Extreme's More Than Words, after years of trying on my own and quitting out of frustration. Lastly, he's just a cool dude to hang out with. I never feel like I'm being taught by a nun. More like an old buddy who happened to score more dates 'cause he spent his youth learning guitar instead of playing video games, and now he's teaching you. This is also a neat trick because I'm a 42 year old dad of three and decidedly uncool. With Rick, I change out of my pleated khakis and crocs-with-socks... at least mentally... ;) I've got a ways til I'm Tom Morello, but I'm having a blast getting there.
