This is my go to coffee shop in the area, especially when I have a hankering for a non-chain cup of joe! My latest pick-me-up has been that oatmeal cookie latte. The secret (or part of it) is the oat milk! So comforting and so delicious! Mondays are double punch card day! Instead of one punch per drink, you get two! Also, February is North Shore restaurant month, so RH is giving 15% off purchases! Tag's Bakery (Evanston) makes the goodies (donuts, cookies, scones) sold here. ATTENTION OWNERS: while I come for the coffee, not the commode- PLEASE talk with your cleaning service about doing a better job in the bat 6 months later, been here many, many times between reviews. I really do like this place, as previously mentioned the ambiance and coffee is good/great.Still haven't tried any of the food, nor have I come for any of the evening/weekend performances. Based on signage it looks like there are a great many offerings of many kinds of musical and other entertainment options. Very hard to categorize this business. Part music school, part coffeehouse and part performance space. Have been here a couple of times. Most recently we were here to see our friend's band preform. The space is small so acoustics are never a problem. Getting a seat though is a bit of one. For the performances they never seem to have enough seating and I am too old to stand for that long. Love the little bar/food area they have. They do a really mean grilled cheese! Hubby is always happy that he can get a cool craft beer. Most recently I opted for a smoothie. I had wanted a strawberry banana that was listed on the menu board but they had no strawberries. Hubby made the executive decision to get me an apricot peach one instead. It was darn good and bursting with flavor. I would get one again. Service though, at the bar, is always very slow. read more

I've been in the market for a good coffee shop for awhile. I've tried Brothers K, Dollop, Ravinia Coffee Station, and bunch of other coffee shops. And as much as I think Brother K and Dollop are legit coffee shops, this one takes the cake for me. Their baristas are friendly. I feel like I found a home, it's a great place just to relax and read a book. They are three blocks from the Glenview Public Library, their menu is written on the back of guitars, they roast their own coffee, they have live music, a couch, vinyls, and booze...I mean, what else can you want? I am so pumped that a real coffee house has opened in the Glenview/Northbrook area and I find it quite funny that it's down the street from Glenview Grind (GG). I tried GG a couple times and the coffee there was just awful and service was subpar. On the other hand upon stepping into Rock House on a Saturday morning, you're embraced with a live band and cheerful, friendly baristas. Rock House is really neat because it's a coffee shop and roaster in addition to being a music school, music venue, AND bar. I ordered a caramel soy latte and it was pretty good! It definitely could have used some more caramel in it but overall I was satisfied with my choice. Their prices are comparable to all other coffee shops and I will definitely be back to try more of their drinks and enjoy the live music. read more

We had a great time at Rock House and found it to be a fantastic place to unwind and rock out! Rock House is a great independently owned coffe house that incorporates the passion of its owners, the love of music! With that being said Rock house has a number of jam rooms that guests can use to jam with friends or simply take lessons to improve the rock skills. Along with the jam rooms they also have a great rack of records from Lover Boy to Cream and the Stones. This place is all about Rock, and let me tell you Rob and Criss know how to do that! But Rock house is more than the music it's an atmosphere that is true to its soul and from the minute you walk in you will know your at home. It's a place to grab a beer or a coffee and really enjoy the atmosphere. But just to be clear this is not a soulless Starbucks this is the Rock House! We loved it! Stopped in at lunchtime on a weekday and tried two kids of grilled cheese, two coffee drinks, the chai tea latte, and the pizza. We'd recommend all but the pizza, just because it's not as good as getting it fresh at Barnaby's. But the grilled cheeses were great, and the drinks were wonderful. I don't like the rock taste and I had avoided trying this place, but I think it is the best coffee shop in Glenview so far! Surprisingly, coffee was great! Latte was great flavor and beautiful. We came for the Friday Family karaoke night. The kids just loved it! They found their inner rock star on stage! Good song selections and a great, family friendly evening. The pizza is so-so, but the youngsters will gobble it up. A grilled cheese and roasted pepper sandwich was fine. Lots and lots of pepper - a bit too much for my taste. Such an awesome concept. This restaurant is the opposite of a mullet. Party in the front, business in the back. I recently went here for a Yelp event. The first thing I noticed when I arrived was that the place had great ambiance - cool lighting and decor with guitars up on the wall and a stage in the center for musicians to perform. It's part coffee house, part music school. You can buy records there or coffee that they roast themselves. I ordered a Chai Tea Latte which had great flavor. I also tried their grilled cheese sandwiches (Willie Nelson & Jumpin' Jack Flash) and pizza from Barnaby's. The food was good, but you definitely go here for the atmosphere and music. Rock House was terrific. Me and Taylor M. were in the area, and had time to stop in for a coffee and a quick snack. I got my usual mocha latte, and we shared a grilled cheese. The latte was good, but the grilled cheese was delicious. While we waited for our sandwich, we walked around and took the private rooms, where you can take private music lessons. While we ate we listened to some great music, and looked at the beautiful guitars hung on all the walls. I was surprised to see tha they were all for sale! Delicious drinks and very nice rilled cheeses - either custom made or pick one of their recommendations on the blackboard. Poor service combined with inconsistent coffee has turned this great concept into a poor coffee place. I went in this morning and grabbed 7 cups of coffee. I had three cortados with completely different amounts of milk and coffee. For a roaster the coffee is very poor. Service was a major turnoff. read more

The good: comfortable, the staff was very friendly. Bad: They have a limited drink selection and didn't have the one drink that suited my taste. If you run out of one and you've got a huge selection, that's fine move on to the next. When you don't, you should be better at the small selection you've got. We ordered food, two grilled cheese. Again, limited selection. I'd expect grilled cheese experts. Not the case. My order was written on paper and still it came out incorrect and for some reason the two sandwiches came out 20! minutes apart. There just wasn't much to either of them and the sun dried tomatoes were like little chunks of rubber. Overall, they just seemed unprepared for dinner. The owners are great and I've seen them donating to different events in the community (music at the farmer's markets is my fav). Local business that really deserves support! My kid takes music lessons there and just loves it. It is also a cute coffee house that sells quiches and pastries. They make a killer grilled cheese sandwich (I have never expressed that sentiment in my life, but my kids love them) and cheap Barnaby pizza. There are adult music events as well as family programming (their beer and wine license helps for those). The staff is wonderful. There isn't a great menu and it is not a hidden gem. They even have Family Karaoke for those kids who like the spotlight and those adults who like to get their children up on stage. If you want a really good grill cheese, then come here. All are made when you order. There are house favorites. My recommendation is the Bon Jovi which is mozzarella, provolone (I don't even like that cheese normally, so for those cheese haters, it won't make you cringe to eat this) roasted red peppers *It is not very hot peppers, and pesto on sourdough bread.
