My two children (ages 7 & 8) have taken individual music lessons here for over a year and we have recently bought a new 48" Pramberger Professional Upright piano for them. Previous to this, we had group piano lessons for over a year at a distant music school and owned a weighted keyboard. The kids liked both, but we were ready for something more - more challenging lessons and a piano. Starting with a review of the music lessons first, we are really happy with Ms. Kathy, our music teacher. She has a great background in music and understands how to approach teaching each individual according to their different abilities and needs. Also, she is demanding but fair and understanding when it is needed. As my husband and I have no musical background, she has been excellent in assisting us in helping our children here at home. Most of all, although playing the piano can be hard work for us, we have been really enjoying it too - thanks to Ms. Kathy. As for the sales department, they are terrific and I have dealt with three of them - Joe, Judy and Massimo. I took my time and probably waited a little under a year to make the right choice in selecting a piano with the right sound, right touch and fair price for our family. All three of them were very patient with me as a customer and all knowledgeable about pianos. Most importantly, they helped us in picking the right piano for our needs and gave us what we considered a good price. After our piano was delivered, they have continued to be helpful and involved with the care and tuning of it. The Pramberger we purchased has exceeded our expectations - the sound is great on both the base and treble clef and actually playing it is a joy. In general, American Music World had a great selection of both used and new pianos of many brands and it was tough to pick one we were open to both new and used pianos of many brands. Lastly, we know some individuals that have bought pianos here on an expedited basis, i.e., picking a piano on the first day of looking and wanting delivery within a week and these customers were very pleased with their experience as well. I have not had to move a piano before, so I did not know what to expect. After getting an upright piano on Craigslist, I considered all the options for transporting the piano to my apartment. I called the top four rated piano movers on Craigslist and even though they seemed reliable and helpful, their quotes were much more than I anticipated paying. The distance the piano had to move and the size of the piano, including the accessibility of the locations (all elements of the pricing scheme of the move) did not justify the expense in the quotes. At one point I considered moving the piano myself, with some friends. Eventually the person I got the piano from gave me a phone number for a moving specialist, which turned out to be Rick's number from American Music World. He seemed eager to help me in any way that he could. He gave me a quote that was cheaper by hundreds of dollars than the other companies. I was very surprised. I verified that he was not some random scam artist by going on the company's website. I felt very secure in my decision to book him for the piano move. I was really delighted when they arrived at the pick-up location before the scheduled time, and quickly arrived at the destination with the piano intact. They were skilled with their techniques and made every effort to care for the pianos safety as well as the infrastructure of my apartment. My stairs have an extremely steep incline and they basically had to lift the piano vertically. Somehow they managed and my piano plays beautifully.
