The tour guides, however, are wonderful and informative. They have a lot of great information and are personable and engaging. It is worth a visit to learn some interesting facts and try something new and unique, but don't come expecting a cool cave experience. As long as you set your expectations, you won't be disappointed and have a more enjoyable experience.

Even as an adult it is fun to step over the official border line and joke about being in two places at once. You also get some incredibly amazing views. You will need your passport and still do need to go through customs (for some reason some people think that you walk you won't have to). Driving can often have waits, but they seem to not be as bad as some of the other bridges are. Probably because this is more of a tourist bridge than commuter (since the others attach directly to the highways). If you are traveling to Canada and want some great falls views, this is a great bridge.

I understand that this bridge usually has the least congestion compared to the Peace Bridge (bonkers!) or the Whirlpool Bridge (which only accepts drivers with a NEXUS pass). This beautiful arch bridge opened in 1962 and has five lanes over the Niagara River. It serves as the terminus of I-190 in New York and Highway 405 in Ontario. Very good signage points the way to the border and there is a "Last Exit in USA" sign to keep you from doing something dumb. A toll of $5.00 USD (or $6.50 CAD) is grabbed at the border but only heading in to Canada. There is a tollbooth after the border crossing and I was surprised that my North Carolina Quickpass worked. This bridge crosses over the Niagara River…read more On our way to Canada on Interstate 190 (I-190) we crossed over the Grand Island Bridge connecting Tonawanda and Grand Island in New York. This is a major bridge and one of the busiest that is located in Buffalo. Unlike our bridges here in California where toll is collected only from one direction the Grand Island Bridge collects from both the northbound and southbound directions by E-ZPass. The bridge looks impressive with its arches but not sure I like the color blue. Each direction has only two lanes each. Having said that I wonder how congested it gets when it's peak commute hours. For our travel there was no traffic on a Sunday afternoon as we crossed the bridge at 5:00p. From here we were only about 15 miles from the Rainbow Bridge and Niagara Falls. Review #3017

We dug them out of our carryon and answered a litany of questions: where are we going? Final destination? Any liquor, tobacco or firearms? No to all of that last question. Nothing about what we bought or how much we spent. And then we were on our way. Five days ago we entered Canada by driving over the Peace Bridge. It was quick moving through the gate after sitting in a line of cars for twenty minutes. We only needed our drivers' licenses. And questions were similar.

Literally rustic, as it seems to be very rusty. It's a drawbridge. I shot a large portion of my first album photo shoot here. It was announced in late 2014 that they were doing $8 million of repairs to this bridge. That's a lot of money! It's a lovely little bridge that takes you over to Squaw Island, to Broderick Park, and to Bird Island Pier. In other news - The Hairy Street Bridge was actually built using furballs from Stray Cats.

This bridge is finally restored and opened as of June, 2016!…read more It is a delightful old bridge, connecting Unity Island to the mainland at the southern end. It's a drawbridge, a pretty old type of bascule bridge, and there are a few signs nearby that explain the background of the bridge. There's a bike path along one side connecting to Niagara Street and Riverwalk. It's a very photogenic bridge, but don't fish on it!

I've always loved this beautiful Viaduct, which traverses the amazing Don Valley Parkway, and which transports Danforth Ave from the residential part of town into the truly amazing Greektown section, where the festival is and where there's lots of fun to be had, not to mention lots of great meals. He did a terrific job educating us on the history of the Underground Railroad. The center is nice, an intimate experience created by people who truly wanted to capture the importance of Black history, American history. Mr. Saladin dropped a lot of gems but I will always remember this one specifically, " if you don't have a seat at the table then you are on the menu."

Located directly next to the Amtrak train depot in Niagara Falls (which is historically…read moresignificant), this museum is clear, concise, with reproductions of first and second person accounts of the trip to freedom (Canada) near Niagara Falls. Before 1848, this was done with a trip on a rowboat or ferry; after 1848 a train suspension bridge was the preferred highway to freedom. The museum takes 30-60 minutes to explore, and it's beautifully done in multimedia. The gift shop is worth a look too: Volumes of history, and T-shirts. As I was driving away, I looked over Whirlpool Drive to the gorge, and saw the ruins of the old suspension bridge. It made the heart ache: So much human drama happened there, and now it's incognito.
