Enjoyed a Friday night dinner at one of the most elegant clubs in North America. Although they featured a tantalizing fish fry I opted for a stuffed chicken with baked potato and broccoli/ peas. The staff was very attentive and personable. The dinner was served in an oval shaped room that is without equal , as a designer of high end restaurants I realize this kind of room is beyond the budgets of the most expensive restaurants anywhere today. We had our daughter 's wedding at the Twentieth Century Club. The ceremony and cocktails were in the magnificent garden. We went to the dining room for dinner and dancing. My brother got married here right after Thanksgiving. I have to say, the venue was beautiful and everything was spectacular! I was the best man, and found the wedding planner (Erin, I believe her name was) to be professional, friendly, and approachable. Everything was set up so nicely, the staff was professional, and the food was excellent (surprising for a wedding!) The place is just gorgeous, and has so much classic old-school Buffalo charm. Let me start with a little background about this building, The Twentieth Century is a private women's club in buffalo, the members of this club are buffalos elite women. From educators, judges, entrepreneurs of many branches...it was founded in 1849 and is a historical landmark of our wonderful city. That being said this mansion is filled with a lot of beauty and history. It also serves as a venue for different events including weddings. The building itself is just beautiful and grand. The ballroom has a dome ceiling with sculptures all along the edge of the dome where it meets large pillars and opens up to a logia with ceiling high windows. And a garden that makes you forget that your anywhere near a city. I happen to personally know that the staff and management put their hearts into their jobs because they love them. Their in-house kitchen holds a wonderfully talented executive chef and wonderful chefs that work under him and their food is something to be mentioned using the highest quality in everything that they do...I am recently engaged and brought my fiancé and mother to view the club and they fell in love just as I have....it is a 5 star venue ur to the professionalism and hard work of each employee and the beauty of this place will win the hearts of many future wives and husbands... with wedding season approaching, I strongly recommend not over looking the twentieth century club... I hope to have my wedding there June 2020!! And had no need to look anywhere else! read more

The event: A cocktail reception for 80 people. The location & parking: Meh. I parked in front at a meter. Thankfully $1 in quarters bought me 2 hours of parking, so that was convenient... There's a free lot behind the building and across the street, on Franklin. I thought this was somewhat confusing, as did many of our guests. Parking in general sucked. The location seemed promising though... The ambiance: It's old. If you like old stuffy places, probably full of ghosts, then this is your kind of place. I don't like old places, but that's just me. Don't get me wrong, the upstairs of the building had a lot of character that reminded me of the Titanic but you need to have a certain taste to enjoy it... Like I said, old and stuffy... Oh yeah and NO AIR CONDITIONING!!!! This didn't compute in yesterday's 80 degree, muggy summer-like weather. Things seemed cool until we got moving around and guests showed up. Then I was sweatin' like a turkey on Thanksgiving! There are gardens and a fountain out in the back of the facility. I'm sure they're great in the summertime for Kodak moments. The food: Meh again. Prior to the event everyone was raving about what wonderful food they had... I think they need to get out more! It was pretty standard and yes mediocre, like the other reviewer stated. Carved turkey (okay), stuffed mushrooms (okay), little beef toast thingies (meh), artichoke hearts (dry and weird), little quiches (bland filling on a sweet shell??), veggie tray (the best part of the spread), cheese tray (another good part of the spread), and a number of generic desserts that seemed dry and all tasted the same. Would I choose this as a venue for an event I was personally throwing? No. For a work party or something? Still probably no, but maybe if the price was right... It's worth seeing the inside for sure, but meh is a good way to describe the experience. read more

Wouldn't recommend this venue to any bride! The general manager, Erin Sullivan, was a nightmare! From not returning messages to a very bad attitude, I would suggest saving yourself from the headache. The garden is gorgeous (which is why we went with this venue), but she'll still hold the cocktail hour indoors even if the weather is 75 degrees and sunny. She also told us she would act as the event coordinator, but vanished. Gorgeous venue, but working with Erin was a terrible decision. No one should have to write a bad review about their wedding day, but I'm willing to save another bride from the trauma. read more

i had the opportunity to attend a wedding in the fall of 2011 and the reception was held at the Twentieth Century Club. I had not been in the building for many years and was taken back upon entering by its beauty. The architectural details of this building are overwhelming...and the rest of the evening was as beautiful. The staff was attentive to every detail..the cocktails were perfectly served. The dining room was elegant and the table settings were lovely. The food was delicious and served promptly and warm....not typical banquet food. The bride and groom added some fun flair to the occasion which made it a night to remember. They did have a guard/parking attendant in the rear of the building present when we entered and left. Simply put, the best wedding venue in Western NY. After visiting approximately a dozen of the top venues in the Buffalo area, my wife and I finally decided to have our wedding at the Twentieth Century Club. Sure enough, the TCC exceeded our already lofty expectations based on what we experienced, but more importantly, based on the incredible feedback from our guests. Including our own wedding, I've been to 2 weddings at the club, and it really does not get any better than the TCC. The Venue We opted to have our ceremony in the amazingly beautiful courtyard that was bursting with flowers and charm. Parking was extremely convenient for our guests as there is a TCC lot in the back of the building. Guests entered in through the rear of the property and were instantly delighted to enter a different world surrounded by lush greenery, fountains, and the amazing Renaissance architecture of the actual building. Once the ceremony ended, the guests enjoyed the cocktail reception in an incredible room upstairs surrounded by frescoes. We had a piano player on the piano in that room which made for a great opening act for what was about to follow. Once the cocktail hour ended, the doors were opened to the TCC ballroom, which, I know can easily be considered the most breathtaking room in all of Buffalo. All of the details from the dramatic ceiling to the wood floors to the Roman arches, are just absolutely perfect. Yes, as another reviewer pointed out, the building is old - built in the 1800's. But stuffy it certainly is not. Our wedding day was quite warm and the TCC does not have AC. Fortunately, with the big windows opened up, this was not an issue as the circulation keeps the guests very comfortable even while dancing all night long. The TCC has all the charm and character one would want for their wedding. It is anything but bland. I can guarantee, your photos will be amazing. The Food Where do I begin??? Normally, wedding food is a huge disappointment and tastes mass-produced, and hardly edible. The TCC on the other hand is consistently delicious. The appetizers, meats, vegetables, and drinks are all made to perfection and is easily the best food I've ever had at a wedding. People are still reminding us how delicious all of the food was. I love food, I've eaten at the best restaurants all around the world and the TCC is spot on! We had a number of special requests for menu items, and we found the TCC to be incredibly accommodating. Many compliments to the incredibly talented chef at the TCC! The Service Sure, the location itself and the food were great, but, in the end, it's the people that truly differentiate the TCC from all the others. Beginning with the lady in charge (I don't like to put names here). Bottom line, she cares about the club, but, as you will find out, she cares more than anyone else at any other venue that your wedding goes off without a hitch and that in the end, it IS the best day of your life. She absolutely knows what she is doing and on your wedding day there is nobody you would rather have by your side and working behind the scenes - trust me! Furthermore, the attitude of tremendous care and hard work trickles down throughout all of the staff. The wait staff are all expertly trained but, more importantly, extraordinarily and genuinely friendly. They made sure to take care of each and every one of our guests and ensured that they all were having a great time. Actually, by the end of the wedding, the staff were dancing in the aisles with us! Great times! In the end, there is no other place in the region that is remotely in the same league as the Twentieth Century Club. It is no surprise that the TCC is considered by all of those in the know to be the premier venue. We also found that when all is added up, the amount charged is incredibly fair for what you get in return. When looking for a venue, we listened and took the advice of many in the industry that there is no place as good as the TCC, which I'm now happy to report is absolutely true. Complaints about the Twentieth Century Club 1. Although I was advised to hire a police officer, and to pay $100 in cash to him, one was not in evidence during the assigned hours 2. The elderly guests had to contend with six steps in order to enter the building. This does not conform to code. 3. All of the entrees (salmon, chicken and vegetarian pasta) were mediocre at best and we heard complaints from many guests. 4. The hors d'oeuvres were likewise unimaginative and lackluster. 5. The fans that we were promised for the ballroom were not in evidence. 6. On the day of the wedding, we attempted to drop off several items at noon and were told that the building would not be unlocked until 2:00. This was a terrible inconvenience. 7. A large number of guests had their cake removed while they were dancing and therefore did not have any dessert. I understand that there was ice cream melting on the plats, but perhaps the staff could have replaced the melting dishes with fresh plates of cake only. read more

While the venue has some beautiful settings for a wedding, do not let them get your money. Mrs. Hokel gave us the run around for months, during that time they went through three different chefs. When we had a tasting, only two weeks before the wedding, the food was disgusting. We asked to bring in our own chef and still pay normal fees, they refused. Then strong armed us because they had our deposit, we ended up having drinks and appetizers, and they changed the pricing. They blocked me from speaking to the board, for a place run by woman and for woman, they managed to break my wifes heart, I wonder how they treat there own daughters. Maybe in the right hands, this could be an amazing place, but the current group will run it into the ground. read more
