Had such a blast on the corner! 1st time here so. Was just soaking up all the vibes. Came here for a comedy show in which I was supporting a good friend Jacob Morrison as he ventures through his comedy career. The atmosphere was great, started out a lil chilly but once the drinks started flowing I was fine,the vibes were good and the comedians were all hilarious. Thee Gary Wallace had me in tears with his set, he came out swinging lol! Definitely had a blast and look forward to seeing more shows! This place is cozy and a fun place to stop for a drink and listen to live music. My hubby and I stopped in on a Thursday night to hear some great music by Dean and EJ of the Hot Club Express. The beer list Is so varied, with bottled beer from all over the world. The draft beer choices are also excellent. It was decorated for Christmas, and there were Tom and Jerry's available to drink. I fear leaving this review because I don't want the place ruined I loved it so much. Step back in time without all the pretension to a classic hometown bar. The owner Greg was bartending and filled us in on the history of the place having closed in the 80s until he opened up in the 2000s. There's no having to pretend to be old timey, the vinyl on the bar, the stools, and the walls covered in Utica Club and Schlitz is authentic to the place. We went for the Tom & Jerry's and I have to say they are one of the best in town, unlike a lot of places though they aren't pushing out big batches of the batter so you want to get there early to make sure you don't miss out! They serve them until new years. We weren't there long before the friendly patrons offered to get us a shot, everyone was so inviting and made us feel so welcome. Greg too. We plan to make it a regular stop even outside Tom and Jerry season! read more

Hidden behind a worn facade on Amherst Street, this clean, bright and spacious Black Rock bar is everything you want in a neighborhood joint, especially on a Sunday afternoon. Roll up around 1pm, and you'll find them screening an old movie behind the bar, serving up fresh pork pies from B-lo's up-and-coming English Pork Pie Co., and slinging the best darn Bloody Marys in town -- for FOUR DOLLARS apiece! I got hip to this awesome deal thanks to a UYE hosted by the lovely Christina H and Rebecca D, who apparently have their fingers on the pulse of awesome here in the B-lo. Big ups to them for organizing a hair-of-the-dog outing one sunny summer Sunday recently, and opening my eyes to this goodness. Thanks ladies! The bar's a comfortable place to sit here, as you can catch the action on the screen -- on the day we visited, they had "Rebel Without A Cause" screening quietly, allowing us to talk or listen as we liked. But there are also plenty of tables, and a whole back room that would be perfect for parties. (Cue gears turning in my head for future funtimes to be held here...) Bonus: Rohall's let me bring my cold-brewed Stumptown iced coffee from Delish into the bar, proof positive of the warm hospitality Rohall's is rocking. Also a huge bonus, as it is not a Sunday for me unless I have upwards of three beverages in front of me at all times. (Beverage three should definitely be a water in this case, especially if you're getting your Bloody extra spicy!) After you finish your drinks and movie-watching, you can wander on down that way and grab dessert at Delish, go bowling at Voelker's, or even keep eating at Lucy's or Black Rock Kitchen & Bar. I came here for an event thrown by the Social Media Club of Buffalo for 4sqday! I don't even use 4sq but I still really wanted to come to this event and check this bar out. It's a nice neighborhood bar. Very laid back with ample bar space and neat booths right in the front. They also play awesome music. There is an enormous space in the back with lots of tables and a piano. I love bars that have space to sit and enjoy the company you came with (or meet new people!) They did not have many beers on tap but had no qualms with the selection (they had Rusty Chain and the Flying Bison IPA) and their liquor selection seemed average. Inexpensive drinks and a friendly atmosphere... and it's pretty close to my house! read more

I have to praise this bar yet again. This is closest I've ever got to a "Cheers"-like bar in Buffalo. Especially on a Sunday afternoon. The owner, Greg, is behind the bar serving up the best bloody mary's in Buffalo. He usually has an old movie playing (this past weekend he had an Alfred Hitchcock double feature). The bar stools are occupied by friends - and if you don't know them, by the end of the third round of shots or bloody mary's, you will!! Everyone shouts comments at the television ("Watch out behind you, you idiot!!!"). A Sunday evening with movies effortlessly transitions into "vinyl night" with another great bartender, Ambrosia. She brings in her vast collection of excellent tunes and plops them on the turn table. Shots all around to my new friends. read more

The only negative about them Is that they were made in the kitchen instead of at the bar (as at other places) so we could not watch our drinks created. Rohall's Corner might just be the most comfortable and under-recognized bar in Buffalo (probably why ArtVoice readers voted it "The Best Bar Only You Know About" in 2011). It's a beautifully restored neighborhood pub with table and bar seating in the front room. The service is always fast and friendly, the prices are great, and the selection of beers is top notch (whether you prefer a good ol' PBR, a local microbrew, or a more obscure European brew). On football Sundays, you can spend half time enjoying a Sloppy Joe--or, for VEGANs, a Sloppy Lenny. Seasonal specials abound (like hot cider with maple whiskey). and a small menu of snacks is also available. Through a wide hall, you pass through to a very large back room with tables, banquettes, and an upright piano. On Mondays and Tuesdays, live music is featured--and on many Saturday afternoons, local acoustic musicians congregate for the Black Rock Fiddle Jam. This room can also be reserved for private parties and meetings; on a recent visit, I encountered a group of grad students who met up to study for the Architect Registration Examination! The first thing you'll do when you leave this place is thank the person that introduced you to it. There is a reason this bar is named one of the best bars you never heard of. Though this seems like your local "dive" from the outside it is much better kept than that. I'm not a huge beer connoisseur but when I want a beer I'm always looking for something unique or at least a decent selection. Rohall's passes that test but for all the liquor ladies like me - you will love Greg. Not only does he bring so much of his personality to this bar (check out the Sunday events) but he is a great bartender. Two words, 4 syllables : Bloody Mary. 'Nuf said. I've only been once, but will doubtlessly go again in the future. I found this place to be quite charming. I'd agree that it's too nice to be called a dive bar. They have great prices, a decent selection of spirits, and some nice bottled beers (they have draft too of course). They didn't have a list of cocktails, but seem good/knowledgeable at making them, particularly the old-fashioned classics. The music was pleasant and not loud. I'm not sure why this bar is classified as a dive. Don't get me wrong. Driving by it is in a neighborhood that's seen better days and the exterior leads you to think it might be a dive, but inside it's quite nice. We stopped in for a quick drink after a couple of games of bowling down the street and were surprised how classy it was. There's a very nice bar, plenty of seating, and the glass block front window plays well with the ambient lighting of the room. The clientele were mostly well dressed 30 and 40 somethings having quiet conversations. Our party of four felt a little out of place as we were a bit louder telling jokes and laughing. My only wish was that the prices matched the bar's dive reputation! We paid $17.50 for a pitcher of cheap Canadian lager and a Jack and Coke. I'd definitely recommend checking this place out. read more

What a classic Black Rock building and bar. Laid back place, local beer available with nice people serving it. They love the area and support local efforts which makes them even better. Only bummer I do not think they have food-but it is close enough to Wegmans I guess you could wander over there for food. read more

Small, cozy bar. I wouldn't call it a dive bar, as it is clean, well-kept, has flat screen tvs, and friendly staff. It is a nice low key place that had both staff and regulars who were very kind. They had maybe 5 beers on tap, but they took care to choose good or interesting main stream beers, such as pilsner urquell, flying bison, sierra nevada, etc. They have a more extensive selection in the bottle. Liquor selection appeared smaller to me, but it did the job. Drinks are well-priced to cheap. Cozy joint I wouldn't mind making my stomping ground if it were closer to my front door. read more

Rohall's is one of my favorite bars in buffalo. It is a newer place but lacks the sterile caned suburban feel most other new bars have. Unique furniture from reclaimed bowling alleys and an antique bar are in this great pub. Greg, the owner, supports events in the bicycling community that I've attended there. Their beer selection goes from Hamm's to micro-brew and are all reasonably priced. I've even had a Tom & Jerry there in the winter that was amazing. read more
