I first visited Escape City 5 years ago or so, I was working a different job but really enjoyed the experience. In my previous adventure I played the Over the Falls experience and was completely blown away by the game. (We did not get out) Recently I was thinking for ways to get the two teams I work with out of the office and have an adventure. This wasnt about networking, team work, collaboration, etc. This was just about getting out and having fun. So when I saw Escape City launch Jurassic Quest I had to make a suggestion. I am a lifelong dinosaur fan and of course love the Jurassic Park, later World franchises and read the two original books earlier this year. If you are a fan of the movies you will notice MANY incredible details of this room and if you are a dino-finantic you'll easily get through some puzzles. The production value of Escape City is phenomenal as their parent company is Frightworld. You'll find great investment the room(s) you play through. Ive only played Over the Falls and Jurassic Quest, but each room pays incredible attention to detail and great investment in the technology for the room. If youre looking for an incredible escape room experience I highly recommend coming here for a game. My only caution is that this sets the bar high and most other escape rooms are not this produced.

The concept is that you are on a ship that has been taken by Canadian pirates and you have to escape before you go over Niagara Falls. The staff is very helpful and you get unlimited hints that will pop up on the screens throughout if you get stuck. The storyline was really fun and the special effects were awesome! Management is great and the climbing problems are varied to the point where you simply won't find a local gym with the diversity of climbing challenges that CRG offers. They have been great to climb at during COVID and feel safe doing so with mask-mandates and other procedures. They have done away with the enforced timeslot reservations, but they worked well during the height of the pandemic to ensure capacity was kept low. If you're looking for a gym, CRG not only has climbing but a separate facility and room with treadmill, weights and a yoga room as well. The classes are free for members. I usually just come here to climb, but will occasionally run or bike using their gym facilities. I usually get here at least once or twice a week and this is a great place to help get you through a Buffalo-winter.

I came across the brunch even online via Facebook. Right away I followed the link and purchased my ticket for a Sunday event. It was quick and easy. The day of the event I arrived a few minutes late but it was no big deal. Finding the venue was a little tricky. It's of those things where if you blink, you'll miss the entrance. It only took a few moments to figure it out. Once inside it was small but cozy. There were 18 people attending the brunch and we started right away. I really enjoyed the class. We were given cute glasses with a buffalo on them and the mimosas were served. Brunch was comprised of bagels, coffee cake and scones from Panera. It was a nice spread and we were welcome to help ourselves to the spread of food. Our instructor Mo, was very nice and bubbly. She was extremely patient and kind. She never hesitated to repeat a step even if it was for the 27th time. She came right over and showed everyone over and over. She made learning fun and easy. I would love to take another class with her for sure. She's a great teacher. The space was a little tight for the blankets were were making but I really enjoyed chatting with the other people and getting to know them. I'm definitely going to keep an eye out for more events.

You get the instruction and the tips on how to throw the hatchet and then boom, you're off and running. (Not actually running, but you know what I mean.) The instructors are all great and really liven up the whole experience while also giving you tips along the way. This kind of activity really brings out the competition in people in the best way. Many of us had ever thrown hatchets before and those who had, aren't masters by any means. It was just a really enjoyable time to all try something new together. The drinks help too! Not with the throwing (I mean I don't think so) but with keeping the spirits high and having a good ol' time. The space itself is very big but with the cages for throwing, it can get a little tight with a lot of people. There is a bar there with some great beers on tap including the mystery beer which is always fun to try to guess. Food is limited to mostly pub grub but honestly, you're here to throw hatchets, not eat a ton. The pizza we had was good though so check that out. Overall, this is a really cool place to try out. And hey, if you like it, they even have weekly leagues here you can join and get better and continue the fun.
