What a great place for a witch hat! I was SUPER close to getting one but did NOT due to the high winds and my inability to probably keep it on my head. They had knives, fun tee shirts, and so much more. We scored a smudge stick of rosemary, and a Christmas ornament. If you pay with cash you save money but they do take care. Living in Salem, I tend to avoid the downtown Essex Street shops, especially in September and October. That being said, when I first moved to town I checked out Twilight House a couple times. I found a pair of shorts that I liked and after eyeing them a few times, decided to make the purchase. There were no fitting rooms in the store (at least that I could see), so I had to make my best guess with the size. Once at home and trying them on, with the tags still attached, they were too small. I bought them back and went to the front to ask to return them. The young girl working the register wanted to help but owner immediately started saying in a snappy attitude that there were no returns whatsoever. The best they could do was offer me to exchange for a different size, but even then, the fit was still off. At that point, I was so disgusted at their terrible customer service that I didn't want the shorts anymore at all. Funny enough, if you look at their website, they offer refunds for items purchased online. It would be one thing if just a few people had this terrible customer service experience but if you read through their reviews, about 50% of people have noted this to be the case. I know I will never return to Twilight House and will not take friends visiting from out of town there either. read more

The prices are great but the staff are rude to people sometimes I have been in on three occasions and have been treated like s@@t. When this place first opened I went in and they were stocking the place the owners are very nice but the people they hurt ... they should be told not to act so rude. Very rude lady, they provided no mirrors and I was using my phone to take a look at the hat to see if I liked it. Did not take a single photo and she continued to yell at me for taking pictures. Hocus Pocus, Beetlejuice, Nightmare Before Christmas, Harry Potter and more inspired graphics. They even have kids t-shirts and baby onesies. Then add in every tourist type of paraphernalia you can think of and make it crazy fun! Shot glasses, magnets, stickers, sweat pants, signs.... absolutely worst customer service ever I have been in here several times and spent way over $500 for my family of five and i will never go back I walk in with my stroller and I've never had a problem anytime I've been here and my youngest child is disabled and got rudely told to leave and not in a nice way like hey u can have the stroller in here the guy was like hey get out of here with that stroller .. should be shut down and I said I've always come in here and no one has ever said that to me and he was rude yelling and screaming at me infront of customers.. never have I experienced such discrimination zero stars and will tell everyone do not shop here read more

Extremely rude employee (I don't want to say staff as I'm sure not all who work there are this unpleasant). For a store in a tourist community, feels strange to be so family unfriendly. My older child has been dying to go into this store for a while, and the experience was ruined by an employee with a blonde ponytail. If "no stroller" Is your policy, that's fine but post a sign. No need to be rude. We will not be going back or ever giving money to this business. read more

As a person with small children (twins) and needing to use a stroller - I can't recommend this place. Discrimination of families with kids and strollers just feels not a strange hill to die on. Okay, I am truly never one to leave a bad review of a place. I love coming to Salem every year, and always enjoy popping into the stores to support small businesses. I went today (Oct 31st) as it's my yearly tradition to go to Salem on Halloween. I was waiting in a line to get into the store simply playing Pokemon GO with my friends to pass the time. I made it in the store with my group of friends, and we were immediately kicked out for having Pokemon GO open. I mean seriously, what? We had the app open sure, but we were ACTIVELY looking at stuff in the store. We didn't even get 3 seconds to shop before we were kicked out for playing a phone game. I mean honestly, what? I then saw that they have a sign on the door banning Pokemon GO. I don't get it, there was no reason to throw customers out for something so,,, small. Especially when we weren't actively playing. So this is one of the many shops in Salem that is for tourists essentially. Every now & again you can enter a shop & find something that strikes your fancy. Although I don't need another t-shirt or some other random Salem tchotchke, what I did end up finding totally suited me. A suncatcher that I wasn't even looking for just spoke to me, so I got it & it is great. So sometimes things are hit or miss, so check it out, & support local businesses. read more

The owner is nasty to children. She's rude and yells at them, and scorns the parents. When we wanted to buy something, she walked away. Her behavior doesn't fit the vibe of the prideful tourist town. The other employee was wonderful, he scraped the stickers off my sons new toy. Zero stars for her, one for the very kind employee. The toy we bought fell apart within 5 minutes. read more
