I was a patient there about two years ago.. I was happy with my top plate..I was told my bottom teeth were to good to remove..They decided to do a partial plate on the bottom and fill one tooth that was really bad.. I heard the dentist, that filled it say, he didn't realize that tooth was so bad until they started filling it.. Long story short, when my top denture was ready and my partial plate was ready I went in to get them.. The top plate was fine, until one of the teeth fell out..I was not happy! When I found out I had one tooth on the partial plate that cost me $1000.00 dollars I was surprised I wasn't told it was one tooth ..All in all the total bill was $3200.00.. I don't wear the partial plate because I didn't like a mouthful of metal and one tooth.. I am back to my old dentures after two years.. What a waste of my money.. I am very disappointed.. I have dental anxiety and always put off things like the Dentist until the last possible minute (a combination of embarrassment and anxiousness). The staff at Twin City are always very compassionate towards my problems and assure me that there is no reason to be embarrassed. The office is clean and Dr. King is very knowledgeable. Don't do it. Keep searching for a dentist ANYWHERE else. They told me that I needed 6 fillings and a crown, ASAP. I hadn't had a cavity since I was 9, have near perfect teeth and have had regular cleanings all of my adult life. How do 6 cavities pop up in less than a year?? They also said I had periodontal disease and needed to come in every 3 months. ($$$$$$) I let them fill one cavity (supposed cavity) and dear God, the tooth still hurts 2 years later. She used the laser and was a nightmare with it. Had hands like a brick mason and I ended up needing Novocaine anyway. She drilled way too deep, way too close to the nerves, ignored me completely and had zero people skills. Here's the thing. After that disastrous one filling, I left the office swearing I'd never go back and found a new dentist. Know what? There were no cavities. Not one, and I'm sure there wasn't one in the tooth I let TCD fill, either. Know what it was? Silver staining from the old silver fillings I've had since I was 9, not cavities. Silver stains, which are dark grey. They were going to charge me $3000 plus for an unnecessary crown and 6 fillings that I didn't need. My new dentist did an exam, x-rays and ultrasound on every tooth in my head looking for these supposed cavities. I have NONE. I'm still mad about getting taken like this. You trust medical professionals to do the right thing, this felt like getting ripped off big time. My new dentist was horrified and said that she had heard things like this from other people who had gone there. When she tried to get my records sent over from TCD, they ignored her for weeks and what she finally did get was unreadable and no x-rays were included. Imagine that. Spare yourself the pain and expense and avoid this practice like the plague. read more

The hygienists are great, but I would recommend virtually any other practice for anything more than a cleaning. Greater Bangor is lucky to have many dentists that practice laser dentistry. Having looked around for a new dentist after more than one mishap here I found the other offices more modern and the other practitioners more compassionate and invested in patient care. I can't tell you how displeased I am with Twin City Dental! I was scheduled for a cleaning. 2 hours worth of xrays and periodontal testing (machine wasn't working correctly - so we did this part twice), then the dentist came in, poked around a bit and then tells me I need "scaling" done. NO CLEANING ever happened! They billed my insurance and still expect my co-pay for NOTHING but lost time from work. On top of it, they handed me the codes to call my insurance company for pricing estimates for this procedure. The first bill I got in the mail was a demand for payment (due over 120 days). Today I received a voicemail threatening my balance will be turn over to a collection agency. read more

Had over 10 restorations done there and I did not need numbing once! They use lasers instead of drills! Awesome dentist and great people.
