Under new management! Visited for open water swimming practice. (Triathlete) I went in Sept '25 and was warmly welcomed by the new owner, Chris. He gave me a tour, and encouraged me to come by anytime. Triathletes are permitted before and after hours, and he instructed me on how to pay the $10 entry. Park hours were 10a-5p when I went but you can swim anytime. You can pay via QR code or cash. You do need to sign a waiver, but only once. Your first time I recommend stopping by during hours. There is a place to rinse off. There were several other swimmers when I was there. I felt safe and comfortable the entire time. The best part was the water! It was warm of course given the time of year but it was beautiful. I much prefer this to Lake Longhorn. Two laps is 1.2mi, four is 2.4. read more

Definitely a hidden gem. Watch out for red ants. Water is nice and deep. If you can't swim stay on the edge. A lot of people having bbq,and the ice cream man comes through!! Decks and swings to jump off. Lots of fun here. read more

Kind of a trashy operation. Not many places to 'open water' swim around Houston, so they have no competition. No way this pond is spring fed as they claim. It's an old sand pit that fills with ground water and rain. When I say trashy, understand it's kept pretty clean. I am referring to the management, and selective enforcement of the rules. Don't forget to bring everything! Absolutely no re-entry for any reason. Water is a murky pond. No visibility at all. Wash everything that touches it immediately. Sad to say, but this ruined my birthday party. We came to this place to have fun with my fiends and sadly it was ruined by the owner. We had rented a patio thing to make our BBQ which was paid for. Then he came back after 1 hr sayin that that patio was already rented to someone else that we had to move when we had already paid for it. Won't recommend this place at all. Rude owner! Rude, crackhead management. Lake is 10 ft deep at minimum, right off the bank, very steep. You are not told this in advance, and after you're there, you have to pay again if you leave to get what you need to make it enjoyable. Or pay their exorbitant fees to rent or buy theirs. I used to go to 288 Lake for open water swim training, but ever since I discovered Twin Lakes I don't want to go anywhere else. 288 Lake can get kind of crowded, but at Twin Lakes I'm usually one of the only people out there. I just love the peace and solitude of a long swim with nearly no one around. You also don't find yourself being strangled by the vegetation like at 288 Lake in the middle of the summer. The lake is marked with buoys and it's $5 cash to get in. I think it's closed on Mondays, but the owners are so nice and have always told me that if I want to swim when the lake is closed, I can just leave cash in the drop bin. read more

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE AT TWIN LAKES! I reserved a pavilion for about 30 people for a 6 year olds birthday party. I paid over 1 month in advance. My check was cashed one month before the party. I called the morning of the party (today) to confirm. First, when you call the owner (I guess that's who MIKE is) just answers with a "hello". Great customer service to begin with. So I asked if this was Twin Lakes. After he said yes, I told him I was calling to confirm the reservation for the party. I gave the name of the birthday boy and he said "well I think it's got this other name on there but there is a reserved sign, it's fine". He wouldn't even go verify. WONDERFUL. We show up....sure enough it's reserved for some one else. Mike gives us another pavilion that's not nearly as good and not what I paid a month in advance for. I told him this wasn't right. I have 30 people coming and wanted the original one. He offered to give me my money back to make it right. I took the money and he walked away and didn't say much. I started driving in. He rudely and loudly said "where are you going". I said "the party". He started SCREAMING that I told him I didn't want the pavilion. I did get loud back. Don't scream at me through my truck window. I said "I never said that! I have 30 people coming". He was screaming that he isn't going to give me a pavilion for free (even though their website says they are first come first serve unless you pay 25 to reserve before hand). He kept screaming that we could not have a pavilion for free and that he was going to kick my party (for a 6 year old) out of that pavilion because I took the money back. I ended up giving him the 25 dollars back so MIKE WOULDN'T KICK A 6 YEAR OLD OUT OF HIS BIRTHDAY PARTY. He then still wanted me to pay 10 dollars (for me and my husband) to enter the area. If I could have ripped all our stuff out of there and gone to the beach or somewhere free, I would have. It's difficult logistically do that 30 minutes before a party especially when you have elderly people coming I work in a customer service based industry. If I would have messed up and given someone's reservation for 30 people away, I would have apologized profusely, admitted that I messed up (don't play the blame game) and dropped the ball, and offer to make it right. Either by offering something equivalent or better than the initial reservation. If that is not possible, I would at the very least offered a discount or even a comp. I would NEVER scream at a customer WHEN I MESSED UP. The pavilions are first come first serve but I was forced to pay him 25 dollars to not kick a child's birthday party out. I will NEVER spend another dime there. And, Mike, you need some serious help. read more

If you are Hispanic don't go here. The owner/manager is racist and caused us to have a horrible experience. We had reserved a patio in advance and settled in. At 12 pm, he approached us and said that we needed to move since it was already reserved. I told him how If he was the one that rented us the patio and we gave the money to him. Then he says that since he saw us speaking Spanish there probably was a miscommunication. I speak English perfectly and my family does as well. How is there a miscommunication if I was speaking to him In English and also rented the patio for 25 dollars. It didn't make any sense. After that I called him out saying he was being racist and then he goes and says that I'm a dick head and that I needed to get out of the place. read more

Great area to take the family!! 10.00 for adults 5.00 for kids. NO PETS we made that mistake but they were super friendly and helpful. Water shoes are extremely helpful as it is muddy and slippery when trying to get out of the lake. read more

The website says they open at 7am on Saturday and Sunday. Got there at 7:45 and the gate was closed. I called the number that was on the gate and the guy told me they open at 10am. Had to wait 2hrs and 15 min to get in, ON MY BIRTHDAY. Not happy about this. read more

Went today for the first time and Lake is a hidden gem. Had a blast! Water was clear, plenty of space and very family friendly. $5 cash per person to get in but worth it. Will be back for sure. read more

Realizing that I can't swim after my first triathlon in Galveston, I decided to go here to get more open water swimming experience. I remember going here to meet up with other Houston triathletes for a splash and dash race. The place is quite far from Houston but not as far as Galveston. You drive off Morris Ave onto crushed gravel and pass by the entrance of a trailer home park. Since I was just swimming, my admission fee was $5. If I were to scuba dive, it would have costed me $15. They have are several shelters from the sun. If you bring your own food for a picnic, they have bbq pits and tables. The lake itself has training platforms and buoys in the middle of it to help you orient yourself in the water. read more

We visited this lake 2 weeks ago n the entire family enjoyed every minute out there. The owner stopped by and offer help while we were setting up our canopy since we were missing the stakes he left n came back with some stakes. I noticed him going to help those around us air up floats n saw him around picking up any trash along the way. I have no complaints.
