A friend suggested this place on my first visit to Wilmington. A nice beer garden along the banks…read moreof the Delaware River. We arrived at about 5:30 in the afternoon and it was already crowded. We had to park a couple blocks away, but the weather was nice and cool, so we didn't mind. There was no cover charge, despite a band playing. The band was called The Jimmies, and they played music from the 80s (A Flock Of Seagulls, Billy Idol, Springsteen, Prince, etc.). Although I didn't eat, I noticed they had food for sale (burgers, hot dogs, chicken, etc.). An extensive craft beer selection both on tap and in cans was also offered. I had the Dale's Pale Ale from Oskar Blues brewery and the Hazy-O from Dogfish Head brewery. Both were pretty good. The place was pretty big with lots of tables. In the center were people playing corn hole. There was a sand area for kids to play (beach theme?). Once the sun went down, lights hanging from rope above us were turned on, creating a nice ambiance. For a city that doesn't have much (this came from people who live there, not me), this was a nice way to spend a Saturday night.

How cute is this place?! I didn't feel super "safe" eating there as a gluten free person with their menu options (the only reason I have 4 stars and not 5), but it's super easy to go in the area and get something and even bring it in! The drinks are great - I will say that when the weather is nice, prepare for a long line. Doesn't deter me though!

We came here to celebrate a friend's recent engagement and unfortunately left pretty disappointed…read more Despite having a reservation, we waited nearly 45 minutes before anyone greeted our table. During that time, the tables around us were welcomed, served drinks, and had their orders taken and delivered before anyone even acknowledged us. We were also told silverware and napkins would be brought over, but they never arrived. What made the situation even more frustrating was that the server assisting the surrounding tables walked by us multiple times while actively serving the tables on either side of us. While I understand that restaurants have assigned sections, it felt odd watching nearby tables receive prompt attention while our table went unacknowledged for such a long period of time. It left us feeling overlooked and unwelcome. After waiting quite a while, I asked that server for help. He told us we were not part of his section and that he would find our server. After another 10 minutes passed, I had to flag down the host. When I explained that we had already tried asking for assistance, the response felt dismissive rather than helpful. Eventually, the first server I had asked for help returned and took care of us while our assigned server was busy. While I appreciated the effort, the sudden shift in attitude after our concerns were raised felt insincere and left us feeling more like an inconvenience than valued guests. To make matters worse, drink orders were forgotten and our bill was incorrectly charged, although the extra charge was removed when we pointed it out. I understand that restaurants get busy, but it genuinely felt like our table had been forgotten. For a dinner celebrating a special occasion, the experience was disappointing from start to finish.

The ambiance is vibrant yet cozy, making it the perfect place to unwind with a few drinks. I tried the Wilmington Roll, sushi taco, and the Mikimoto, and each dish was a delight! The flavors were fresh and well-balanced--kudos to the chef for such excellent preparations.Service: The service was outstanding! Sitting at the bar, I had the pleasure of being served by Renee. She was not only attentive but also offered fantastic suggestions that complemented the food perfectly. Our conversations added to the warm atmosphere. Overall, this spot is a gem for sushi lovers. I really, really liked this place. Friday night in Wilmington for dinner and a show -- Mikimotos…read morewas perfect. The layout is great. An Asian-modern feel, kinda happening, makes you feel part of "the scene" and not just any restaurant. I got the same thing I always get whenever I'm eating Japanese: seaweed salad and some sushi. Everything was fine. I give it a four-out-of-five only because, well, I'm in my 60s, I've eaten a lot of sushi, and when it comes to Mikimotos ... the nigiri, not the biggest pieces I've ever had, which is a shame because it was quite good. The seaweed salad could have been drained a little better, a bit on the briney side, but eat up! Seaweed salad is a superfood. Beautiful selection of sakis. I picked something light and cold, on the sweeter side, of which I did consume a lot. I had a fine time at Mikimotos. Price point? Ummm ... not cheap, but nothing ever is these days. I can't think of any reason not to recommend Mikimotos. (But perhaps a word of caution. Wilmington can feel a little sketchy to the out-of-towner, and there is a public park two blocks away that I found a bit harrowing to walk through. The inhabitants of said park were eager to engage, so steer clear and keep your wits about you.)
