Stopped in here for a flight of wine and a warm bowl of soup to enjoy after driving back from my sister's house in Jersey. I choose a full body Merlot's Merlot named after their dog which was a contrast to the strawberry wine and white semi sweet that I also had. The location is about 25 minutes from Newark and Wilmington across the Delaware Bridge so it made it easy to visit and had a nice day trip. The Italian Wedding soup was served with bread to mix it up with the wine flight. The space was quiet and quiant with a group enjoying themselves outside while two couples were at the bar. I parked myself at the bar and was introduced to Steven who was a retired engineer/entrepreneur who shared the history of some of the wines with me and some tastings. One of the reds was named after their international son in memory and it's always personal and valuable where a small business remembers its roots. read more

We had the winery to ourselves on a hot summer day when everyone else was 'down the shore.' Ok, we showed up at noontime and were the first customers of the day! The two ladies serving us were absolutely amazing. They gave us details about the names of the wine, the vineyards, the labels (hint- ask about the labels, the label art, the wine names, and the artwork on the walls). These young women were friendly, knowledgeable and professional. They're Definitely an asset to Salem Oak Vineyards and the NJ wine industry. We had two wine flights, three glasses, a peach slushy, bruschetta, and 3/4 of a case to go. They offer a variety of reds, whites, sangrias, slushies. If we had one recommendation- wine tastings in shot glasses can be a disadvantage. Tasting in a wine glass to open the wine by swirling will enhance the nose and flavors. I understand winery's do not have 5 star chefs but simple food can be good if prepared properly or with pride. I asked about the nachos, 'are the real nachos or crappy winery snacks'? No they're real nachos but the best is the pulled pork it's a nicely made large portion. What was called nicely made? Pulled pork on top of nacho chips with cheese wiz and NOTHING ELSE. I asked for jalapeños they had none. How are you serving nachos without salsa or something like onions with tomato or at minimum JALAPEÑOS!!! This is the first winery in at least 12 others I've visited in the past year that I couldn't get through the flight. Sorry but I was disappointed some wine lacked the normal/standard aroma and body. I've never had a 'light' body Cabernet Sauvignon. Some wines taste like the bottom of the bottle and others no so fresh. I went ask far to try the slushy better but no winner. What has never happened? Me walking out of a winery empty handed, today I did!! Would I recommend or return? Nope too many options for a second chance. read more

Came here Friday afternoon to kick off our festivities for the 4th of July holiday weekend. Since very few vineyards don't allow children of any age in their facility, we called ahead to make sure children were allowed. And we were happy that my daughter would be able to enjoy the scenery. Salem Oaks Vineyards is tucked in a residential area with houses relatively close together so it would have been easy to miss it. Once we pulled in, there was ample parking available as well as indoor and outdoor seating since a downpour had just ended and the sun was just coming out. We sat outside at a bench table with my daughter sitting in her stroller. The server came promptly and took our order. She was very pleasant and helpful in making our selections. The atmosphere was nice and it turned out to be a beautiful afternoon. We selected to buy a bottle of the Sweet Caroline to take home and enjoy during the fireworks. We ended our day by taking pictures of ourselves at the vineyard. It was a great day! read more

I've been to Salem Oak Vineyards many times and I'm always impressed with service and friendliness. Today was the first day doing brunch and it was a good start! They are open for brunch Sundays from 10-2 and reservations are required (inside and outside dining). Salem Oak had a brunch menu and their regular menu available with 3 varieties of mimosas (orange, peach, mango). I had the Broccoli and Cheddar Bread bowl which was creamy and cheesy. The waffles were cooked to perfection and the strawberries were yummy! The mimosa was very tasty! We had my sisters surprise 60th birthday party here The atmosphere there was very nice and relaxing. Note: it was hard to find the winery. There is a sign on the road you have to turn on saying Pedricktown, period, no street sign. The staff seemed friendly. As far as food we brought our own. Salem Oak Winery is now open for brunch on Sunday's from 10:00-2:00, reservations are required. The winery has a variety of brunch options available. They also have their regular menu if you are not up for brunch. I went with the chicken and waffles. I opted for the chicken and waffles without gravy but when it arrived the chicken and waffles was covered with gravy. I also ordered a scrambled eggs with cheese bowl but that didn't make it to the table. Our server was extremely friendly as well as the staff at the winery. I am sure that their brunch service will improve with time. The mango peach mimosa was a perfect addition to our brunch. read more

I don't like NJ wines. There, I said it. I assume that, in years to come, they won't taste so young. BUT I went to Salem Oak Vineyards with friends this week. What a surprise! I can no longer make my initial statement. I truly enjoyed the cab/ Sirah blend (Katie Marie) and my friends all enjoyed their selections, as well. The entire evening was memorable, from the owners' tour of the vineyard and the chocolaterie (their sumptuous Belgian dark chocolate is amazing) to the varied food menu that our entire group enjoyed. The hospitality of the owners/ operators, Mandi and her daughter Julia, is unsurpassed. I can't wait to return. read more

This is a beautiful New Jersey Winery with a fairly expansive indoor seating and bar area. You can come with a large group and not worry about finding a spot. The staff was very kind, joyful, and attentive. The wine flights here were a little differently done than what I'm use too but it was cute. They came out on the wooden planks you'd expect to see for a beer flight and the 1.5oz pours were done in shot glasses. We all joked we had to resist the urge to do the tastings as shots. I think I would have captured more of the wines' flavors if they had been placed in traditional glasses so I could capture more of the smell, regardless, the wines were tasty and we had a lovely visit. This was all of our first time here. I'm not sure how this winery stayed hidden from me over the years. I'm glad I found it and would like to return in the summer to see what kind of outdoor seating they offer and take in more of the vineyard. If you enjoy wine you must stop in for a tasting, I do not think you'll be disappointed. The staff was very friendly and accommodating and even gave us a free tasting for the entire table of a wine I wanted to try. I'm leaving four stars over five because I would prefer my tastings to be in wine glasses. I believe I'd have enjoyed the essence of their wine better in a traditional glass. read more

I have been to this vineyard on multiple occasions as well as other domestic wineries throughout the US including Oregon's Willamette Valley and California's Napa and Temecula regions. This is a first class establishment and Mandi and her staff are second to none. I happened to be in the winery recently when a group was asked to leave because they were loud, obnoxious and appeared intoxicated. I came on here to leave a review from my recent visit and recognized the person posting the one star review as one of the customers who was asked to leave. So show up drunk and then trash the place on line when the establishment is doing what they are required to do under the law. Stay class drunken fools. read more

Visited this vineyard last weekend! I was a bit apprehensive of this place when I saw it was just off the road from a neighborhood. However, I did appreciate that we were all very well socially distanced from other tables. The waitress was very nice. We ordered the honey goat cheese, 1 sangria, and a slushie. I much preferred the slushie to the sangria. The slushies come in a variety of flavors so be sure to ask your waiter/waitress what the daily flavors are. The portion sizes for the sangria and slushie were a lot smaller than I expected them to be. I regret not sampling their wine list. I personally did not care much for the honey and goat cheese, would probably order something else next time! The vineyards were off limits to letting us walk through them. They had lots of group games for people to play. I would give this place a try if you're looking for a new winery in the area. read more

My fiancé and I stopped in here on a whim yesterday and had a wonderful experience. We shared a wine tasting of 7 dry wines and then each ordered a glass of our favorite. The half cab, half Syrah was my personal favorite - so delicious! And they gave generous pours, too! For food, we ordered a cheese, pepperoni, and dipping oil platter which came with bread. I wish it had come with some crackers for the cheese, but to be fair, the menu didn't indicate that it would and I'm sure I could have asked for some, but it wasn't a huge deal - we were fine with just the bread. We didn't get to try their soup this time but it sounded delicious and the bread bowls looked huge. They have a yummy (but tad pricey) chocolate selection as well on one wall near the bar - I had a chocolate covered pretzel which was a perfect sweet tooth fix. The service was great; the woman who took care of us was so sweet and personable. We would love to come back when it's warmer outside so we can enjoy the outdoor patio area. What an amazing hidden gem! My husband and I stopped in to check this place out on our way into Chester, PA for a soccer match at PPL Park, and absolutely loved everything about it. It was 100% what a small, rural winery should be: warm, welcoming, and inviting with outstanding wine. We tasted 6 dry wines, and bought a bottle of each one we tried....they were just that good. Delicious. We even got to try (and buy!) a couple of new wines that aren't being sold yet because the vineyard is waiting for their labels to arrive! And the service! Wow. That was some of the warmest, friendliest welcoming attention we've gotten in our quest to fill our Jersey Wine Trail passport book. We immediately felt like old friends. The adorable and knowledgeable Megan was behind the bar, and when we said we liked dry wines, she knew just which ones to pour. We met the vintner Chris, a delightful guy, and chatted up a long-term employee at the bar who was enjoying a glass after being out in the heat, literally picking grapes all day. This was an absolutely lovely way to spend an afternoon. I didn't want to leave. But we had to. And after the Union lost their game, my husband muttered under his breath, "We never should've left the winery!" He was right. Go. Have some wine. You'll be so glad you did. read more

Went to the Salem oaks winery today for the board and mimosa breakfast. Very disappointing, $9.50 for a 4oz (house brut champagne) mimosa. They weren't serving flights. Two of the chairs were so wobbly we were afraid to sit in them. I asked to change them and was told no and they didnt have extra chairs. ONE napkin per person and no silverware. The breakfast boards were between $19-$23 each. When the bagel board came, it had one knife. When the French toast board came we had to ask for syrup. The bagel and pastry board were not freshly made, tasted more like a large tray purchased a few days earlier at a box store. The lavender lemon mimosa tasted like a shot of lavender syrup and a slice of lemon. We were splitting the bill evenly, the server figured out the amount per person on her tablet and stood waiting. We had to tell her to come back so we could add a tip and collect the money. I have not been there for the winery aspect so I make no review of that, this is strictly for breakfast. read more

Wines mediocre at best. Ambience is a warehouse setting and very noisy, outside sitting area sparse with not much to see. Second time visiting last time was pre-covid not not impressed but though we'd give it a second go. Went for a pasta and cheese tasting... four small assorted cold (though not meant to be cold) pasta tastings and four "1 oz" wines in a shot glass! Even for $17pp would expect a tad more wine and warm appetizers. Bought a bottle of Merlot for $22 they say full bodied...like drinking a watered down bottle of Barefoot Merlot. Locals must must have no idea what good wine should taste like to pay these kind of prices, speaking of which they charge for a $10 for a flight of 4 1oz wines that equates to $60 dollars a bottle. Now I can understand charging more for a flight but holy mackerel! Taking advantage of the ignorant? I can't believe people pay these over inflated prices. Fool me once shame on you... read more
