Worst gas experience in San Francisco. I would advise you to steer clear of this unfriendly and overpriced establishment. I came here at 10:45pm on a Thursday and was the only person pumping. The terminal did not accept my credit card, and as is so often the case at gas stations, I was told to "see cashier." I entered the mini-mart and was asked if I was paying credit or debit. I said credit. The attendant asked again, "Credit?" I said again, "Credit." "I'll need to see some ID," he said seriously. I gladly handed my ID and credit card to the attendant, who looked at it, scrutinizing it, and then he asked me, "This is you?" "Yes," I said. "A little skinny," he replied. I proceeded to remove all my ID cards from my wallet to prove my identity, but the attendant still hesitated to approve the transaction. He finally authorized it after a minute more of thinking about it. So, basically, tonight I paid someone to give me overpriced gas AND body dysmorphia. Ewww! read more

I have had my smog checked here, get gas once very 2 weeks, and recently had an issue with them. I found they don't honor their long term customer. No special on smog, even though I had the coupon. I didn't buy gas here and I never plan to. I was on my bike at night with two blown tires after going over a serious pothole going down twin peaks. I pulled out my repair kit and was working on my bike on the gravel on the side of the station. I successfully repaired one tire but the second one required me to patch the inter tube with a patch kit which was quite difficult without adequate lighting. I moved into the lighted area near near the pump in order to see the inter tube. Within 5 minutes the station attendant came out and told me I that the station was private property and I had 5 minutes to repair everything. He told me I should leave for my safety in case somebody hit me and that he was protecting himself. Ended up walking home with a bad impression of the station. Saw a customer smoke a cigarette right near the pump while I was there which seemed a lot less safe than me repairing my inter tube but what do I know. Oh well. read more

There is a reason how they sell cheaper gas. The gas is impure. I had started using this gas station because I was going up and down O'Shaughnessy each day and it was right there. A month later after receiving some problems I take it to the mechanic. First question after the mechanic looks at the car is if I took my car here for gas. Cheap gas. What else can you say? This gas station has the worst rating I have ever seen. I didn't have any of the problems other people seemed to. I guess I didn't have to deal with any poor customer service, I just gassed and left. The prices were by far the cheapest in the area, comparable to prices across the bay! I was expecting to pay a huge premium for gas in SF, but did not have to here. The station looked pretty clean in the pumping area. I am pretty meticulous about mileage and keeping track of how much gas I have in my car, and the pump seemed to be pretty accurate to me. What more can you ask for? read more

I haven't pumped gas here in a while, and just left with a bitter taste in my mouth. I was actually going to go to a different gas station but decided to stop since I was in a rush to get back to work. I went in and asked if I could use the bathroom, and of course, the attendant scoffed at me,was very rude, and said that I shouldn't mess up the bathroom when I went in to use it, and I should keep it clean. Mind you, the bathroom was filthy and smelled heavily of urine, not to mention there was no tissue or soap to use. Luckily for me, I had some Kleenex with me which I used. When I went back to the pump the machine wouldn't accept my debit pin, and I didn't want to pay the credit price, so I went back in and asked the same attendant if there was an issue with my card. At this time,another customer (White male) also came in to ask for the key to the bathroom, which he gave him without scolding him about "keeping it clean".He then abrasively ordered me to put the card in the reader, and push the green button twice,which I did. As I was about to walk away,he told me that I was fat, and should lose weight. I was in shock and just tried to keep my composure. He then asked me how much I weighed, to which I said, "That's none of your business.That is rude".He gave a nervous chuckle. I walked out. I have never been so embarrassed in all of my life. I've heard of people who come from other countries and are insensitive to certain questions and comments, that may not be appropriate in the Western world, but this guy was totally out of line. I myself, being from another country, cannot understand how you try to tear down someone that you don't even know. I will never return to this establishment again,and I hope in the future they learn to hire people with more common sense and compassion for others. read more

I tend to go to this gas station because it's near where I live. But lately when I would fill up, I would see the gallon amount on the pump and think, man, I really cut it close that time. BUT, last week when I filled up I knew I had at least a half gallon left in the tank and the numbers on the dial rolled to 10.025 -- which is pretty amazing, considering my 2008 Honda Fit only has a ten-gallon tank! I didn't have time to check it out last week, but this week I was determined to see what was going on. My gas light on the dashboard is supposed to go on when I have one gallon left, but actually activates at about one and a half gallons. I had been driving mostly freeway miles all week and averaging about 30 mpg. So when the light went on at 246 miles, I drove an additional 20 miles and figured I had at least a gallon left. This morning I filled the tank at the same pump at this same station, and the dial rolled to 10.222. So I go in to the cashier and said how can this be, my tank only holds ten gallons and it wasn't even completely empty, and this is the second time this has happened. The douche says maybe you have a leak. I say right, maybe it's in the back seat...maybe I'm out here making Molotov cocktails. I ask for the manager and he says the owner is not there, but will call me, and he takes down my number on my receipt. I told he had better because he's basically screwing everyone who uses that pump -- maybe all the pumps -- out of $4 each time they fill up. No call yet, of course -- next stop Department of Weights and Measures, which is supposed to regulate gas pump calibration. DO NOT BUY GAS AT THIS PLACE!!!! read more

This place is very expensive compared to other stations in nearby neighborhoods! However convenient for me because I can stop on my way to and from work. It is kinda of tricky to pull your car back into traffic when there is high traffic volume in the area. And those darn tourist buses always blocking your view of oncoming traffic...if only Twin Peaks wasn't so close! Locals know what I mean.... read more

The City of San Francisco appears to be targeting this small business which the City apparently owns the land that the station is situatuated upon. beware: card skimmers routinely steal customers' information to be used in unauthorized transactions. never use a debit card to buy gas at the pumps. pay cash inside if you must get gas here. neighborhood customers have reported this problem for months. police and banks have been notified in addition to the owners of the gas station. yet customers continue to be scammed, including having large sums of money withdrawn from bank accounts associated with debit cards. read more

Was looking for a good place to get my oil changed and checked over. Who can afford to go to the dealerships these days??And are any auto repair places good? OK, so who likes gas stations. Really, they are not like restaurants where you pay to enjoy the experience. Anyways, read the other posts and couldn't stop laughing. I've been going there for over 15 years and was curious about the gas too. They sell Chevron and Unocal gas. Those are the refineries around here and an newspaper article recently addressed that. And a Honda FIT has a 10.6 gallon tank plus the nozzle hose, so there you go! And the price seems about right. Not too much and not so cheap that every scum bag goes there. Just a thought. read more

I would never wanted to fill up gas at this gas station anymore. I fill up my tank this afternoon with cash of $40. Total is only $36.67. I should have change back of $3.33. Instead, I only got back $3. When I returned back to asked for the rest of my change, I got another $0.26 from the cashier. It's not about the change. IT'S ABOUT HONESTY!!! I would give it no stars if I could. I was there July 4th around 12:45 pm. I asked to use the bathroom and the cashier said they didn't have one! I went to the autocare next door and one of the workers said they did have it and to ask the cashier for the key. I went back to the cashier and he said, "we don't have a public restroom!" ... Another customer who overheard kindly suggested starbucks near by. As I was coming back I meant to ask the cashier's name, went in and found another one, I asked for the previous cashier and he said, "what for?" ...I said, "he didn't let me use the restroom" and the new cashier said, "well...he must have had his reasons"..and reached to his right and handed me the restroom key. I was perplexed! (what reason could it be? the fact that I'm hispanic?!! ...I was dressed well and clean. I am a engineer who works in Cupertino but was visiting SF for the holiday) ...So, I asked him, "what reasons could he have had?" and he said..."the system was down." ...(really?!)...and I had to ask...."does that affect the bathroom?!" ...and the new cashier said, "no, it just makes him upset".......I cannot belive it! Apparently, when the system is down, this cashier becomes an upset racist! ...The new cashier didn't want to give me names but he was working on that shift. I would encourage his supervisors to keep an eye on him, he will cause problems.... and God forbid the system might be down again! From my end, I will consult with my lawyer this weekend. read more

The auto care and gas sales are separate businesses. I think the gas sale business was responsible for my experience. I came to Twin Peaks Auto Care with a flat tire from a screw I picked up on my way to work. They refused to help me, saying that they were too busy. When I began to change the tire myself, they told me that their insurance didn't allow me to change a tire on their property. What could I do? They told me to move my car onto a Portola to change the tire. That's a busy street -- a really dangerous location. When continued to change the tire and promised to be done in 10 minutes, they threatened me and shouted abuse. Not a good start to my commute. I occasionally fill up here because the gas prices are good and my tank is empty, but my advice is to avoid this place when possible. read more

The attendants at this gas station are (you know what I mean). The other day I was there and an elderly woman was needing help to fill her gas tank and the cashiers would not even help her. They provide no paper towels to dry your windows and they wait until the squeegees are not working until they replace them. The oil they sell costs almost double than what I get it for on San Jose Avenue. The lot is set up to be very confusing because of the four way traffic stop (it's on the corner). I just had the same problem as Tucky D. The nozzle didn't shut off automatically, resulting in gas all over my car and the pavement. I've lived in the area for over 30 years and get my gas from Twin Peaks Gas 99 percent of the time. I've met the owners too and they are AMERICAN and speak English. Don't mistake cashiers for owners. Sometimes their little kids are even around. It's pretty cute. Definitely a local mom&pop place. So I ask them questions about the business all the time. And to debunk all those comments about putting 87 octane into 91 octane tanks- that would never happen. Also, the credit/cash thing is everywhere now because credit card companies charge them so much for transactions that they lose money. read more
