I give 5 stars to Twin River Commons, Binghamton. My daughter stays here for school, and it has been a great experience. The building is very clean, well-maintained, and feels very secure. It's also in a nice area of town. No complaints at all -- highly recommend. It's like a luxury hotel. The grounds are nice. There's an inner courtyard, safe and secure where the students can congregate and barbecue. read more

It's a great location but the office overcharged me $315 for the month of July. The office personnel are unable / unwilling to address this problem. Also my apartment was so dirty when I moved in it took me 3 hours to clean 4 rooms. I do like the furniture with the exception of the bed which is hard and uncomfortable. Views of the river are blocked by filthy windows Also they changed my room assignment on the first day from 256a to 223a because the first assigned room was very dirty. The computer still has me listed in the wrong room. They gave me a survey to complete regarding the inspection of the property that was supposed to be done 24 hours after moving in. I am already out. They will lie to college students about not having space getting you to sign early and then if you decide not to return they will make you pay the entire lease for the whole year even if you don't live there! They don't care if you are a college student! And guarantors beware! They will ruin your credit just to get extra money even if they lease your apartment to someone else! I lived in Twin for 2 1/2 years and have nothing but amazing things to say about the building and staff! First off, the management is amazing. Compared to other buildings around the area, Twin was the most reliable. When you put in a work order, the maintenance ACTUALLY fixes it!! In a timely manner too! What a concept! Your packages are kept safe because you have to go to the office to sign out and pick it up. They also do a lot of building events that are actually good and people want to go to. All of the staff are super friendly and go above and beyond to really help you! Secondly, the amenities are unbeatable. Laundry machine in apartment. Brand new appliances and countertops. Study rooms on each floor. A cool lounge in the middle. 2 minute walk away from the bus stop. 8 minute walk away from downtown, which was so convenient for weekend nightlife. Gated community. Super clean throughout the building. I also lived facing the river and my view was amazing. Gym, computer room, tanning bed, and patio with grill to hang out in when it's nice and warm. Reliable WiFi. They are pet friendly, too! Love petting all the doggos that walk by! 10/10 would recommend. Had the best memories spent with great friends in this building. read more

This place is convenient but it is such a rip off and all that the managers care about is money. When I originally signed on there was a different leasing manager (Kenny) who was so much nicer and was the person who honestly convinced me and all of my roommates to move in. He even offered extended deals on the spot. The current people are really condescending when they talk to you and keep on bringing up random hidden fees. Upon moving in they charged a $150 move in fee that no one knew about. Additionally, my apartment was filthy. My roommates and I had to spend DAYS sanitizing it because it was so disgusting. You would think that with the amount of money they charge (they even charge a $250 "transfer fee" to switch rooms) it would be better kept and cleaner -- especially now during the pandemic. They claim that some of the fees are to cover cleaning between leases but they don't actually bother doing that. One of our roommates lived here the year prior and even admitted that they didn't stop by to clean at all before we moved in. It's also really loud here, especially if you face the courtyard because there are no restrictions on usage of it. The wall are also really thin so you hear any and all sounds from both within and outside your bedroom. If you want to sleep/study, don't live here. The only really good part about twin is the maintenance staff. They are the all the sweetest. There really is no other reason to live here though. read more

After living here for almost a year I would say that they are not worth their rent! Dont get fooled by the Scent as soon as you walk in. This place Stinks! This new management does not care for their employees, nor their residents. They have been promising renovations and closing off all amenities during Midterm week, the same way they did over winter 2021 courses. Paid rent a while ago for the previous year and received confirmation there was no remaining balance. Fast forward 2 months and Mr. "manager" Dalton has sent me to collections as well as ghosted my number and email. If you were considering living here, definitely don't- about the worst option for nice student housing in the area. Small apartments, terrible staff and managers, as well as lack of responsiveness to problems. And the best part is Twin river will throw a weekly ice cream party for residents but won't answer the phone in their office. Please read the "not currently recommended" reviews. Some are the only honest and accurate reviews of Twin River Commons and it is unfair that these are not factored in. This apartment building has scammed me out of so much money. The rent is over $1,000 per month and IS NOT WORTH IT. There are much cheaper apartment buildings in Binghamton that are way nicer than Twin. There are countless maintenance problems (my favorites were the bug infestations in my bedroom and the black mold in the bathrooms and laundry rooms, to only name two). All of the amenities and appliances are clearly cheap because they break easy, don't work, or are very loud. They also threaten you about 3 weeks into moving in to resign your lease or they will sign your room away, (which is not true, but we fell for it). I would have rather stayed on campus, slept in the street or lived in a frat house basement than throw $17,000 at them for the year and a half I unfortunately lived there. The maintenance staff are extremely nice, but the office staff ranges from clueless to heartless. They are horrible with paperwork and communication, and the lease is very vague, thus open to many expensive fees being thrown at you on top of the crazy rent. Upon move out, they refused me a confirmation of my lease termination and the complete refund of my security deposit, so we had to spend WEEKS trying to get a hold of them to get our money back and my name off of the lease. No one would answer our calls or our questions and it was very stressful. Please read through all of the reviews. Enjoyed living here a lot but my experience was ruined when the management neglected to give me a valid security deposit back. After moving out in August, I was sent a check in the mail which immediately bounced, so I contacted Dalton in the management office about the issue. It is now January and Dalton has promised to send me a new check twice, ignored my emails and phone calls, and somehow blamed this issue on being "busy" and the "new ownership". I have reached out to him personally at least a dozen times with no luck! Really bizarre and disappointing. Please don't live here. Not sure where to start. I've lived here for 2 years and I swear it just gets worse as time progresses. Both times, moving into my new apartment it was FILTHY. They unplugged our mini freezer over the summer between leases, leading to all of our food rotting. They said they would compensate us for all of the lost food but did nothing about it. The ceilings in the hallways are covered in something black, looks like mold, however they claim it is dust. The walls and ceilings are paper-thin in terms of noise cancellation, so expect to be woken up at all hours of the night by your upstairs neighbors. Also, the wifi is close to unusable at times. Most of the staff are really nice but some of the people in management could not care less about our satisfaction. Don't waste your money and find a place with a better location too. Can't wait for my lease to end here. read more

Don't move here. I never felt safe living here. I was placed with a trouble roommate who had a records of driving her other roommates away. I constantly complained to management, which they did nothing but try to speak to her and the issues were persistent. She had mentioned things like finding chopped up bodies fascinating and being so angry she felt like punching someone and needed to take her medication. Management simply said everybody is "battling their own demons". For the parents who care about the safety of their college kids I suggest other student housing rentals. It would be cheaper and stress free. Also for the parents or anyone considering signing the lease...read the lease or have a lawyer read the lease! When I tried to get out of my lease due to the advice of my professor, who is a lawyer at Binghamton University and the advice of an NYPD officer, they decline it, although I was in a constant state of fear and stressed out. This has negatively impacted my grades. I really suggest searching elsewhere for student housing where the college experience would be less stressful and most importantly where you can feel safe at your own home. Down below are pictures and emails in the conditions I lived in. Along with an incident where my roommate had a psychotic breakdown because I had the blinds up. I was working on a midterm and had to leave in order to find the nearest police station. You can't imagine the amount of stress it is to be working on a midterm and then having to contact the police. When she complained to management about me keeping the blinds up is when they decided to move her. They called me and seem unhappy about the situation and expressed annoyance, rather than concern for my own safety. There was also another incident here, in which by law they are required to tell you, if you ask. The incident took place in the fourth floor, the police arrested someone due to the use and possession of crystal meth and finding it in the current apartment I live in. If I knew this information beforehand I wouldn't have signed the lease. This experience has definitely been anything but common. read more

It's funny because I wrote a one-star review for Twin River Commons on their website last year and it never appeared.. huh!! Living in Twin for a year was full of unnecessary stress for me. First of all when I signed my lease THE FIRST DAY SIGNING STARTED my friends and I requested not to have a courtyard view. The leasing agent assured us we would have a street view. Months later we got our assignment and what do you know.. the windows looked right into our neighbors apartment across the courtyard!! And the apartment was filthy when we arrived! Thanks a lot Twin!!! Then, DURING FINALS WEEK Twin decided to construct the new courtyard beginning at 8am every morning. Nothing like waking up to jackhammering after a night of studying! They also installed string lights below my bedroom window. Not only did I wake up to drilling next to my head but the lights shined in the window every night until the end of the semester. The walls in Twin are super thin so expect to hear everyone around, above, and below you! Oh, and all of the drunk people in the courtyard will keep you up during the week as well. It is truly obvious Twin, like many student housing options, does not care about their residents and only wants to rob college students of thousands of dollars over the year. read more

Twin river is truly luxury college student living! Amenities are top notch and they always are there to address any problems that you do have. It's prime downtown location and I wouldn't live anywhere else, especially compared to any of the other apartment complexes. Worth the price in my opinion. I've lived at Twin for two years and love it! The apartments are really nice and having your own bathroom and laundry in each unit is a huge bonus that most apartments don't have. The location is super convenient being walking distance to bars and restaurants as well as the Downtown Center, and just a short drive to campus. The staff are always really friendly and helpful, and will do whatever they can to accommodate for your needs. I moved here from Hawley after my junior year and do not have enough good things to say about the people who work here and just the overall environment. Everyone is SUPER friendly and receptive to any issues that might come up or really any requests at all. After coming from Hawley which felt extremely cold, had no sense of community, laundry machines were always broken, printers were always broken and staff members were not friendly, Twin could not be any more different - the people here are so kind, the staff jump at any opportunity to help out, things get fixed quick. I always feel comforted when I walk into the building after dark and a security guard is watching video footage to make sure the building and the parking lot are safe. One of my absolute favorite parts of twin are all of the events that they put on for the residents. They are ALWAYS giving free stuff away!! On Super bowl they have tons of catered food, during finals week they give away free Starbucks coffee/hot chocolate from the machines and have a ton of free de-stressing events like local Binghamton yoga coming in, Valentines Day treats, free Dominos pizza, Parade Day treats, free waffles on the weekends... the list goes on and on. After reading some of the reviews residents left that weren't super flattering I wanted to set the record straight - people might get stuck with crazy roommates that they don't like or maybe students are loud and having too much fun/enjoying themselves too much in the courtyard (like students are supposed to be doing??), but at the end of the day I can tell you its the people that make the difference. I love following the Twin instagram account and staying up-to-day on everything. They have dogs walking through the lobby all the time that act as communal therapy dogs. I'm staying here for a second year for grad school and cannot wait. One of my roommates is staying here for her third year. You don't see repeat customers like this unless they are doing a good job. With so many downtown Binghamton apartment options Twin is the best by far. I love twin! The staff and maintenance team are super friendly and always around to help with anything. The apartment itself is beautiful and always clean. The location (near bars and right next to the UDC bus stop) is extremely convenient. The community is also gated in which is definitely a plus. I've never had a problem with finding a parking spot in the lot. It is also EXTREMELY convenient to have laundry units within your own apartment as well as communal machines too in case roommates are using the machines. Printers as well as study lounges are also available all throughout the building.The only complaints I have are that the gym lacks in variety of machines and the walls are very very thin, which makes living on the first floor somewhat of a pain. read more
