When leaving King's Fitness this morning I was blocked by a El Monte police truck pulling a horse trailer. The cops parked their rig on the street in front of the Donut Man but its length blocked King's drive. When I hit the horn to alert them that I was attempting to leave a guy (cop ?) approached me arguing they have horses in the trailer and that fact gives them the right to stop there or something just as incomprehensible. I quickly explained they were blocking the entrance to a commercial business and no amount of horses will excuse suck conduct. When the guy continued to argue with me I finally ask did you guys become entitled pricks after becoming cops or did you bring that offensive personality to the job. I called none emergency line to report kids riding on my driveway and on the street. They told me they couldn't do anything unless they are blocked your driveways. They just ignored the complaint. When I called the dispatch immediately ask if it was an emergency even though I had called the regular number and not 911 and then proceeded to put me on hold, when she came back to the call she had told me there is nothing I can do but just leave a voicemail and wait for animal control to come later (in 24 hours )which they said they would not be coming till it is business day( the business days for the animal control El Monte is only Monday through Thursday ) instead of offering some type of assistance on what to do or some way they can help or even sending someone over she proceeded to tell me the same shit that we would have to wait for the person to answer the voicemail and that I would just have to wait for them. Filed a complaint after a horrible experience with dispatch. Email I sent to the department below. Hello, I would like to write in a formal complaint and need some information on how to do so. I spoke to dispatch this morning to report some men who had broken a lock on the gate to the back entrance of two businesses and the person I spoke to was very dismissive, rude and raised their voice at me on the phone. I think this is a disgrace and in a time that requires compassion and dignity, quite honestly saddening. If the dispatch operator had allowed me to speak they would've known that one of the businesses I was calling about had been broken into last week. That we have been losing sleep over the fact that we have been broken into three times before this and it is traumatic every time. Each and every time EMPD promises us that they will do their rounds and check in. I review camera footage almost every night, the night after the neighboring business was broken into, a patrol car did arrive at my parents business. Do you know how long they stayed? Not even two minutes before driving off, you promise to protect and serve and in all of these instances I have yet to see that. So maybe your officers should learn a little compassion and empathy. read more

We have 2-3 Suspicious person showed up at our private property parking lot at 2:00 AM last night , and we called El Monte PD too see if they can send any officer there to check it out as we did have person break into the property before , and the officer showed up just in couple Minutes , dispatcher was super exceptionally helpful. Someone hit and ran on me, got their license plate number and went to the police station the next day to report it. The lazy cop there kept trying to discourage me from pressing charges because the damage wasn't significant. I asked him can they at least track down the guy and give me his insurance information so i can file for a insurance claim, he said no and that he couldn't retrieve any information for me even though I had the guy's license plate number. El Monte Police Department is by far the worst encounter that I've met. There has been a break in at my restaurant and we immediately called the police once we found out. They said an officer would be there shortly. Okay, I understand it's not an emergency but telling me "shortly" and 5 hours later, there was still a no show. I had to leave with other errands of my own, I couldn't just waste my day. They eventually called and asked to come out. While I told them I was no longer there, was I able to do a report tomorrow? She said yes and for me to come into the department and write a report instead. Next day, I arrived at the department and told them my full story. I felt like they didn't care after they said "you need to go back to the restaurant and wait". Dude, how more rude can you be? I drove back to the restaurant and waited a couple of hours and still nothing. At this point, I knew they weren't going to do a damn thing so I ended up leaving. No wonder El Monte is the 22nd miserable cities in America. 22ND!!! that's SUPER HIGH up there! You should be ashamed of yourselves. Can somebody just tell me that's just how they are? I was assaulted by an individual that served me court papers. I was hit in the face and verbally attack by my husbands friend. I went to the police department to file a report since they didnt take any statements when the incident occurred. I was told that i need to Obtain a copy of the incident report before I even go into the police station to file a report. I filled out the request and I waited 1 19 days for this report to come in the mail. After I open up the letter it was a completely blank form there was nothing just an empty sheet and then the request form. I then started to call detective Trejo and left maybe 20 messages or more Before I was finally contacted. I also emailed him at least 40+ times. After I was finally contacted I filed the report directly with him and gave the details regarding the incident and this was within the statute of limitations. I file this report back in october 2021. I have probably emailed detective trailer another 30 times and yes and I would get maybe 1 or 2 emails saying that he was sick or had some personal reason that he couldn't file it right away and that he would contact me when it was filed. It is now July of 2022 and I haven't heard anything back I haven't received any phone calls no emails and the report still has it been filed. I want to strongly believe in the judicial system and that police department But how can I when I get the run around over and over and over. I don't understand why things have to be this way. It's easier to just be honest and up front and to try to help the person that that is asking for your help versus shining them off and ignoring them, that's not humane. It's disheartening because it makes me wonder what type of world we live in. read more

This is a great police department, yes things have change from time to time but overall I'm happy with the service I have revived. Just now a male and female were outside where I live, they were fighting and yelling at 12:15am. I went outside and called El Monte PD right away and bam they showed up. I was happy it was over and the couple were taken away. On a side note, some people post their own personal negativity about certain cops just out of spite. This homeless individual would come by our shop at least 3-4 times a day. He would disturb our customers by begging for money & throw a tantrum when they refuse to donate. To make matters worse, he often picks up leftover food from the trash can to eat ( we do have sign stating food from the can is dirty or contaminated and not safe to eat). When we try to warn and show him the sign, he would flip us off and say if he gets sick, he will just sue us and the city! It is so ridiculous and we don't know how to stop this. We have been making complain calls to the station so many times but the officers never showed up. We feel very hopeless. Recently, he has been showing up very high and drugged up, he peed in front of our store once. We feel bad for him but as the same time his actions are disturbing and dangerous to others. Many customers did request us to ask him to leave ( he tried to sleep inside a few times, or touch food from our customers plate). When we ask him to leave, he would try to attack us and threat to kill us. We desperate needs the authority to be involved. The nicest police officers! Recently my car was stolen from my driveway, within 30 minutes of reporting it they dispatched a very nice officer to my home to take the report. Officer Salmon found the car not too far from my house a couple of days later and gave me a courtesy call to ask if I was able to pick it up or if I preferred it was towed to the local towing company. Very pleasant police officers. They have a hard enough job dealing with criminals, thieves and bad people. Involved in a hit and run accident but we were able to get the culprit's license plate number. We were told that the car wasn't stolen and the officer also told us that they would try to find the guy and asked if we were willing to appear in court; we told them yes but haven't heard anything from them since. It's ridiculous how they were able to tell the car wasn't stolen in half an hour and yet they couldn't locate the car's owner. This is probably the reason why so many crimes happen in this city. When you need police officers in an accident, you wait for hours for just one person to come but when you pass by the streets, you see at least three cop cars with 5 or 6 uniformed cops whenever they try to arrest an old homeless guy. My sister came to this police station to pick up a police report she filed in November 2016. She was told to fill out the release of info form and was asked to dial an extension which NO one picks up! If it is not because the incident happened in El Monte~ my sister won't be coming here! The two police officers sitting behind the counter just chit chat and enjoy their coffee! Last time when my sister went to Temple city sheriff station, she was able to pick up the police report in less than a minute after showing her Drivers license~ different city, different polices? This El Monte police department is similar to San Gabriel Police Department. They are bunch of useless cops who were provided poor services to the community. I have my car stolen from the San Gabriel gate apartment. This police department recovered my car and they didn't took any fingerprint. They deal with the towing company and have them tow my stolen car to their lot. They should have call me to pick up my car instead they call the towing copy in El monte to pick it up. The f*cking Freddie Mac's towing company charged me $215 to take my car out of their lot. There are lot of thieves in Freddie Mac's towing. They stole my battery, spare tire and remove my two speakers. That low life mother fucker who stole my Honda accord in 2017 on August 2 and stole my cash, jewelry and everything else inside my car. It's sad that we have these kind of corrupted police department. The captain( William) of this El Monte police department is useless just like the chief in San Gabriel.
