If I could leave zero stars, I would. I appreciate the practical uses for metro, especially when it is raining. Metro had lots of maintenance issues on a weekend I was traveling. I always research trips and I thought I was informed about my travels. The wmata web site was wrong. On Saturday, Twinbrook was the stop I used when the red line was impacted by single tracking and repairs. On Sunday, I started my trip at Twinbrook since that stop was the solution the day before. The glitches switched locations. I learned that Twinbrook wasn't in service (after swiping my card). A nice customer told me about the changes. I left the platform and asked the station employee for help. He was probably having to repeat himself dozens of times during his shift. But I am one customer, hearing the information for the first time. He was frowning, unpleasant and gave confusing instructions. He was also pointing to the wrong exit. When I asked him to clarify where I needed to go, he was rushing me out of the area, telling me to get on a shuttle that would take me downtown. Where? I am fluent in sarcasm but I would not be disrespectful to a customer. Metro employees should be awesome whether I am paying full fare or $2.00. A nice bus driver told me to walk to the other side of the block. She was kind. I walked back into the station. Another Twinbrook metro employee walked me to the area when I explained that his colleague was needing a time out. I had already traveled two hours by car and was wheeling luggage around. Even when I am tired, I am nice. I took the shuttle to Medical Center from Twinbrook. Two opposite experiences in the same day. The employee at Twinbrook needs retraining. The employee at Medical Center needs a raise and a promotion. Kindness matters. read more

This is my go to metro stop because it's super close to my home. There ample parking on both sides with pay as you exit stalls. There is also a parking garage if you prefer that. The station is pretty small in comparison to other red line stations. This station is also third from the end so if you miss the stop it's not a huge deal. It is less busy than the Rockville metro stop (one stop down) which is nice. The station itself is almost always clean. You have to wait for the trains above ground which depending on the weather can be good or bad. Overall we haven't had any issues with other passengers at this station. People tend to keep to themselves. I haven't interacted with staff so I can't speak to their friendliness but there is often a metro security car parked in the kids and ride lot at night for added safety- which I appreciate. read more

I took the DC metro for the first time this past week and really enjoyed it! Luckily, my dad was able to drop me off so I didn't have the hassle of paying for parking. On Sunday, my ride only cost me two dollars plus the cost of two dollars for my initial card which is refillable. Apparently you can use some kind of app instead of a card? But I haven't quite figured that out yet. However, there were three available machines to purchase cards and add more time. A worker so I needed help and was great. He got me set to go in just a couple minutes. I made the next train with no problem. I only had to wait about two or three minutes. The only confusion I had on my first visit was how to actually get up to the train. LOL. I could see it above, but couldn't quite figure out how to get there. Well you actually have to go down the steps to then go up after you swiped in. Just a heads up! read more

One of the nicest Station Managers you will ever meet works at this station, Mr. J. Byrd. He is so very helpful to every passenger that seeks his assistance or if he is out making his rounds. This above ground station is centrally located. The new Safeway / Galvan Apartments is a few steps away, another 5-7 minute walk across Rockville Pike is Trader Joe's & a few blocks down on the Pike is the Target, Sports Authority to name a few & restaurants of many. The station is pretty quiet, never hear of or see any issues & they offer parking. The flip side of the positive, is that when it's freezing or storming outside, the platform isn't too user friendly. However, since its one of the slim stations not enduring heavy traffic towards the end/beginning of the Red Line - Shady Grove, the seating is usually spacious. read more

During our Washington, DC part of our trip, we stayed with a friend in Rockville, MD. Twinbrook Metro Station was the closest station to our friend's house, so this was the station where we would catch the red line into DC. I have only been to a handful of Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) metro stations, so I don't really have much to compare to--I don't know if Twinbrook is better, worse, or a typical WMATA metro station. There was nothing overly great about it, but nothing overly horrible--it seemed just as ugly as any other metro station. The reason I am giving this station three stars though (instead of two) is because of one particular metro employee. I was travelling with my mom and sister, and my mother is quite.... difficult. I'm seriously convinced she has some sort of mental illness. Anyway, on the day that this story takes place, we were going somewhere in particular in DC (I no longer remember what we had planned for that day), and in order to get to our destination, we had to take the red line to Metro Center, and then transfer to one of the other lines. We explained this to our mother, and she just had a fit. She was freaking out and yelling about how she didn't understand why we were going to Metro Center, when on a previous trip into DC, we had gotten off at Union Station. We tried to explain numerous times that we were getting off at a different station because we were going to a different part of the city, but she just screamed and yelled, and wouldn't listen. A metro employee saw (and heard!) what was happening, and could see that my sister and I were embarrassed and stressed out, and came over to help us. She managed to calm my mother down by telling her the exact same information we had been telling her (which station we are getting off at), and after, she gave us all a hug. My sister and I were so thankful for that employee helping us with an extremely difficult situation. read more

We were only using this station one day, since we were traveling and we're just passing by. We couldn't find parking in their lot, but were able to park on the street. It was hard to figure out their card system, but I guess if you ride the train often, you should be ok. The employee at the window wasn't very nice nor helpful when we got back and our cards were not functioning in for some reason, even though we had charged enough credit. We were willing to add more $ but the machine inside wasn't working for credit card payment. read more

Nice, easy access, above ground metro station. Pros: 1. parking available. 2. Fairly safe area. 3. Really convenient if your staying at the Rockville Hilton. 4. Some cool stores and restaurants nearby- REI, Trader Joes, Matchbox, Pizza CS, Miller's Rockville Ale House. 5. Seats available. Station located near the start of the Red Line. 6. No commuter crowd. 7. Clean. Cons/improvements: 1. not much protection from the weather. It's been hot lately. 2. Could use better lighting. I've used this station for the last 2 weeks. Never had to many problems on the metro red line. Now that I am not riding the metro subway anymore, I am hearing about a number of problems. Anyhow, Twinbrook metro station area has changed since I was there last. I now see more people walking to the station because of all the redeveloping land and housing. Should I ever move back to Maryland, I am not sure where I would want to live, but it would most likely be near a redline station. read more

It is a nice little metro station on the Red Line - close enough to the shopping area in Rockville. Getting to it from anywhere from the Pike is at least a 10 minute walk tho. And the sidewalk along the kiss and ride are slanted at a crazy angle - was the intention to provide an out of the world experience of walking on the moon or did they go cheap on the general contractor that built them? read more

I've traveled to/from this station several times as its not too far from my office. There's plenty of parking here and the station is pretty clean. The station is above ground. As others have mentioned it a short walk to nearby shops and restaurants also if you work in the area there's plenty of local buses or you can walk if you're close enough. I've knocked off one star as there are actually two pedestrian exits to the street and the signage isn't clear as to which way to go which I discovered on my very first visit to this station so just keep that in mind and google maps can be your friend in this circumstance. Typical outdoor train station. It has ample parking but you can find cheaper parking in the lots adjacent to it or by parking at a meeter Its in Rockville Maryland so you really don't have to worry about getting robbed as much as you would at one of the other stations. The station's never really crowded. You don't have to fight for a seat because its near the end of the line. If you're hungry there is a Chinese spot with a bar (Green Bamboo) and there's also a Subway within walking distance read more

Twinbrook is a nice stop for getting access to restaurants and shopping in Rockville. There is a new parking garage here, but it still isn't the main hub for drivers compared to the other suburban stations. read more

I got stuck here while the red line was single-tracking between Shady Grove and Twinbrook. It's an above-ground station, so I had a lot of time to check out the views, and people watch. It was a nice day , and It is just a metro station after all!!! read more

I've never written a review for a Metro station before. What is there to really say? It's pretty much par for the course. The station is above-ground, so there's no real protection from the weather. There are various buses (both ride-on and Metro buses) that service this station. The location is pretty great too, as far as North Bethesda/suburbia goes. A block or so away from the Rockville Pike. Right next to a Safeway and a bunch of apartments. Also there's quite a bit of retail and dining establishments nearby. read more

It's just a Metro station up in the burbs, you say? Parking makes all the difference in the world. For months, I had no idea there was a massive parking lot (not a garage) in the back of this station (accessible from Twinbrook Pkwy & Ardennes Ave or Parklawn Dr) and I have NEVER had trouble finding a space. Also, there are several hotels within walking distance of this station - I mention this because there are several tourists who save a few bucks by staying up in the burbs and then pay the $2.35 (off-peak) price to get to the tourist spots downtown. (After 9:30 am, the all-day pass is $6.50 on Metro). As far as stations go, it's about the same as the others. The escalators have been in a state of repair and, this week, the elevator is out, too. But it's safe and clean and anyone who has ever searched for parking at one of the other outlying stations knows that an open space is a HUGE plus. read more
