I always research trips and I thought I was informed about my travels. The wmata web site was wrong. On Saturday, Twinbrook was the stop I used when the red line was impacted by single tracking and repairs. On Sunday, I started my trip at Twinbrook since that stop was the solution the day before. The glitches switched locations. I learned that Twinbrook wasn't in service (after swiping my card). A nice customer told me about the changes. I left the platform and asked the station employee for help. He was probably having to repeat himself dozens of times during his shift. But I am one customer, hearing the information for the first time. He was frowning, unpleasant and gave confusing instructions. He was also pointing to the wrong exit. When I asked him to clarify where I needed to go, he was rushing me out of the area, telling me to get on a shuttle that would take me downtown. Where? I am fluent in sarcasm but I would not be disrespectful to a customer. Metro employees should be awesome whether I am paying full fare or $2.00. A nice bus driver told me to walk to the other side of the block. She was kind. I walked back into the station. Another Twinbrook metro employee walked me to the area when I explained that his colleague was needing a time out. I had already traveled two hours by car and was wheeling luggage around. Even when I am tired, I am nice. I took the shuttle to Medical Center from Twinbrook. Two opposite experiences in the same day. The employee at Twinbrook needs retraining. The employee at Medical Center needs a raise and a promotion. Kindness matters.

There are rarely delays. If there are, you'll be notified via text etc or check online. Its still $6 I prefer this station because of the parking and its more safer and its off a 118. A major road. The. Gaithersburg and Wash Grove doesn't give me the piece of mind I need. The trains are quiet and clean.

Now they are putting up surveillance systems aganst Teenage Take overs where they are in a rampage not bejbg in Schol at and hanging where kids are jit allowed at . Its ruining the reputation od good customers there . But im glad improvements are being made . This place has now two parking structures one at the station and ine across the street . It includes elevators to take uou into the metro train areas . They even have apps such as Metro bus or ride on bus app or ateansit app to know schedules to buses or trains there . This is "my" stop. I do not live in Washington, D.C., but I did for more than a decade before…read moremoving on, and, as importantly, my elderly father still lives on his own in the Maryland suburbs. So I am still in the area, this specific neighborhood, just about every month. This is the closest mass transit station, and I probably have used it a dozen times in the past year. All of that is to say I am familiar with it. I am not a daily commuter though. I write for three reasons. The first is to praise the design of this system. Brutalism is a terrible style of architecture. However lovely it is in Instagram pictures, it does not work for users, and the name itself would suggest an attitude toward people. But the Metro system is not like office plazas. Massed concrete is aesthetically appropriate, even pleasing, for this usage. These are modern cathedrals (not an original thought of mine as to train terminals; as a college freshman, I took a seminar about the beauty of engineering). The deeply coffered ceilings above the platforms, the incredibly long escalators, and, in this instance, that circular antechamber all give this location a dignity you might not associate with getting large numbers of people on and off the Red Line tracks. The second is to note this specific venue is, if not unique, at least unusual (I detest the abuse of "unique," which means one of a kind -- I don't know how many other stops of the DC Metro or any system are like this, but I doubt this is the only). It straddles a border. You can enter/exit on the city side or the suburban side. These are officially different legal jurisdictions. That's just neat. For my purposes, I almost always, unless I'm turned around, need to head into Maryland. The third is to express positive feelings about the neighborhood. I am biased and self interested. I acknowledge that. One should. But this is a livable residential part of the capitol. I have traveled to various capitols. DC is my favorite, and that is not only because I am an American; DC is easy to get around in, even for tourists, and it is eminently suited to middle class families being able to raise children there, which is not true of so many of its counterparts elsewhere. Friendship Heights, in particular the Village (Maryland side), is close enough to downtown to allow easy access, but distant enough for easygoing day to day activities. They say the Village is the single most densely populated municipality in the nation, ahead of New York City even, due to it being a handful of high rise condos packed into such tight quarters.

Bus stop is right around corner and running every 5-10min. Across the street is shopping center inc doller tree and 7-11 and Dunkin etc. You can spend time around this neighborhood too. Try to take 46 to rose ave. They have a new town and explore the modern neighborhood. Spring and summer is the best to be at this location. Nice winds come and go. weekend fair is $2.50! This station is also more cost effective because it is in DC & metro charges by zones. I've never had an issue at this station. The station manager is always friendly & willing to help you with an issues (farecard, SmarTrip, or questions regarding your trip). The buses seem to also be on time so there is always someone at the station but there is never anyone loitering. This is now my go to station when traveling into the city. I have never used their parking lot but I'm sure that your car would be safe if you leave it there...never heard of any issues at this station with robberies or carjacking; very commuter friendly station.
