The Convention Center station is one of 33 stops on the Light Rail and is right next to the Baltimore Convention Center. It is also one block away from Camden Yards and the Royal Farms Arena. There are many other attractions close by as well as eateries, hotels and restaurants. The station is a simple outdoor platform with minimal signage and very few places to escape the elements. I think of the light rail as being a single north-south line with a branch for Penn Station and a branch for BWI airport but technically there are three routes as follows: 1. Hunt Valley-BWI (Blue) 2. Hunt Valley-Cromwell (Yellow), and 3. Penn Station-Camden Yards (Red) All three lines come through the Convention Center Station so be sure you get on the correct train if leaving from this station. They also seem to have both green and lime green as colors if it weren't already confusing enough. And the buses are NOT color coded to their names. We saw a purple heading in the opposite direction​ while we made our way to the parallel bus stop, and waited. And waited, finally a for pay bus came and took everyone else waiting around us away. Google map did nothing as it wasn't showing us anything about the purple we were looking for after we got to the bus stop. Transit kept telling me the bus was coming soon, but I don't think it really knew where I was. We ended up walking to the hotel. I finally took a look at Passio GO! after we gave up on the free bus and decided we'd take a pay bus to Penn Station for our trip home. It took a while to load up, which concerned me since it was completely blank at first, but it might be the best of the lot. For the ride to Penn, we actually waited for the purple that seemed to be on the way according to Passio GO!, but got on the silver only because it came by first. Yup, we never did end up taking any of the Circulator buses on this trip to Baltimore.

It's a great way to get around Baltimore. On some lines the busses are more frequent than on others. I have Global Entry and TSA Precheck so the process was much easier and faster. However, there was no signage where to exit. I found somebody to ask and directed me to the right direction. Then, I encountered 2 separate lines: connecting flights on the left and exit on the right and I was told to go to the right which didn't make sense since I need to catch my connecting flight but CBP agent told me I need to exit and go through security again and get to terminal B. So, why the signage? It's either no signage or if they do have signage, it's wrong. I made it to security before heading to the domestic terminals. The touchless TSA Precheck was closed off so I went to regular Precheck. I told the TSA agent I had touchless Precheck and he told me "next time go to touchless Precheck!" I asked him if he has seen anybody in line for touchless Precheck, no, because it's roped off meaning it's closed! He then drops my passport and boarding pass. There are moving walkways to expedite hopping from terminal E to B. However, people were blocking the walkway and not moving! If you're standing, stay on the right and let people that are walking pass on the left! It just seemed like everyone's first day on earth. The restrooms aren't the best nor the cleanest. They don't have good options for lounges so I skipped that and went to eat at two airport restaurants. They do have a nice selection of restaurants.

This place was completely unexpected to come upon for a multitude of reasons. The obvious one is that there are farmlands so close to the nations capital. The second is that I literally live a few minutes from here and had no clue about it myself. I knew there was a nearby campground and walking trails, but not farmland. My reasoning for coming here was for a work event. When I drove up to the building I didn't think it was going to be a literal log cabin. Yes, it is the name of the road, but I just thought it was going to be a regular old building. Inside it is an event space. Set up to hold conferences and meetings, I was told that in the past it was used for weddings and parties as well. This place is completely set up to be self sustaining. Working kitchen, bathrooms, separate meeting spaces. There is even an outdoor area with picnic tables for warmer months. My favorite piece here, the working payphone, yes, they do still exist. When you are not working while in the building take a moment to take things in. It may be a small space, but they do have some artifacts to look at. Mostly noting when this place was built and remodeled. It was a great space that when I reported back to the office I told them it would be a great place to hold a training.

This station services the commuters of Baltimore working in Washington DC. It also makes stops at several towns along the route. One way ticket costs $8. The small lobby was clean and well lit at night. Only problem is the limited operating hours. The last train leave Baltimore to DC at 8:05 a.m. The 1st train leaves DC at 4:13 p.m. for commuters going home. There are no services in between those two times. If you plan accordingly, it is a cheap way to travel to DC from Baltimore for sight touring.

So I've been thoroughly sick of the Penn Line here recently - the trains are always breaking down,…read morelate, etc. I decided to attempt getting to work on the Camden line instead; it turns out that it's actually better for me in some ways. The Camden MARC station is right on the back end of the Light Rail - all I have to do is hop off the train in the morning, and there I am, no walking, no inconvenience. There's only two tracks, so the train will come in on one or the other. There's a small waiting room for those who don't want to freeze to death. And the conductors seem to be a lot friendlier on this line as well, so that's a plus. There are a couple of negatives that prevent this from being a 5-star review: - The Camden line itself doesn't run enough trains. There's maybe 4 or 5 in the morning, 3 at night - that's it. I'm surprised, as this line goes through Laurel, which is really heavily populated. - The Camden line runs those awful single-level cars where everyone's squished into their seats. It's rare to get a bi-level car, but when you do, there's nothing better. This line is much quieter than Penn (despite having almost as many passengers) and, in my opinion, better run. If it was convenient to me in the afternoon I'd use it (unfortunately it takes twice as long to get home), but for the morning run it's perfect - I get off at Greenbelt, transfer to the Green line on WMATA, that's it - no more fussing around at Union Station trying to fight the masses on the Red line.... Love me some Camden.
